A Day Off in the MMP

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 8c/47f with a predicted high of 13c/55f and mostly sunny. Weather app says “If this fucking weather was a soup, it would be fucking called Bouillabullshit.”

For the non-RDOS amongst us, I have a day off work. It was a very busy weekend and I decided a day of rest was needed. So I’m off to get my haircut, do the grocery shopping, and go to the gym.

What do you like to do, when you’ve got nothing serious planned?

I like to be FIRST!!! in the MMP.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 83 and cloudy. I shall betake myself to the pharmacy this mornin’ to pickup two ‘script refills and to get the ick stuff I will have to drink to prep for my roto rooter on Thursday of next week. We will do some more work on the cee-mint pond as well. Sup is pot roast with N.O.T., and carrots, baby lima beans, and rolls.

Seein’ as I am a RDOS, every day is a day off irk. However, I do have vague memories of the joy that was a random day off. Enjoy it BooFae!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify and don some sort of acceptable attire for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

That sounds like planning for not having anything planned…

If I have nothing on my agenda, things unroll as they unroll. I may get motivated and do ignored chores, I may go someplace I’ve been meaning to visit, I may read or watch TV or waste time on my tablet. Kinda depends on which way the wind is blowing.

Today, I do have plans. I’ll be doing the pre-painting cleanage in the aft cabin of the boat, so wiping down all surfaces and sucking up whatever crud the small shop vac can manage. Then I’ll touch up a couple of areas of teak that FCD ran the sander over - gotta find the Cetol. Then when that’s done, I’ll head to Lowes to buy the paint, plus I want to look at some plants there. And if there’s plant success, I’ll come home and futz on the hill - I’d like to get an azalea or two put in there. If I don’t find any plants that I want, I’ll probably prune the ones I have.

The day is starting with 59 Ferrets, on the way to mid-80s, with lots of sun. There’s a warning for very dry and possibly gusty conditions, so a no-burn order is in effect. I’ll likely also run the sprinkler on the new plantings, even if I don’t buy any since I did put some stuff in the ground on Firday. Looks like today is pretty much full.

For now, it’s caffeination and computer time, then on with chores.

Happy Moanday!!

He who fails to plan to do anything serious is planning to do nothing serious. I have no plans today for anything other than the MMP. Thus, I am planning to do unserious, silly things today. We’ll see how that goes.

When I was employed I would take days off to do chores/errands. I hated wasting a day off like that, but that’s the curse of the working class.

Today is rainy and ick and I have nothing planned. Currently I am listening to the washing machine go out of balance because of a blanket. Guess I need to redistribute.

Serious waits in hiding until I let my guard down then launches an ambush.

Good morning all! My plans are to do as close to nothing as possible. Even more nothing than I usually do to make up for the amount of stuff I got accomplished the last few days.

I learned about the local flying stomachs, I originally thought they were all Starlings but then I noticed some differences and got curious. We don’t just have common Starlings (all black/rainbow), we also have European Starlings with their fancy orange beaks. The ones with the brown heads aren’t Starlings at all, they are Cowbirds but they all happily flock together en mass and cover entire yards while pecking around in the grass for bugs. (Or on our mobility ramp for the entertainment of the fuzzbutts)

I ordered this year’s mystery piece from Kathy Rees and got my threads Saturday. As usual, I don’t have the stretcher bars I need. This piece is called Liberty and the original colors are red, white and blue. She usually has my colors as one of the choices, but not this year so I picked Christmas colors. I’ve been thinking about decorating for holidays and have actually got a few Easter things already finished, so it will work out.

Its currently 70F and we are looking at the mid 80’s this afternoon. I have a few things I should do outside, but they might not happen today.

I hope everyone is having a good start for their week!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 47F and cloudy outside. Our daytime high is projected to be only 54F, with a slight chance of a rain shower or two.

When I worked, I would occasionally take a day off to handle cleaning when the kids were still at home. I’d have the whole house to myself and could knock it all out undisturbed. As I got older, the occasional day off was generally spent on multiple errands, or sometimes just to have the house to myself and do nothing.

As for today’s plans, I need to pick up the pups’ allergy meds at Costco. I ordered them on Saturday, so they should be ready. Other plans call for riding the bikes, because the lifting restrictions are finally, well, lifted for the husband.

Other than that, it’s the usual sweeping, tidying the kitchen, etc.

You all take care.

Good morning. Chloé and I walked. We saw a rabbit, and, like the creul horrible person I am, I wouldn’t let Chloé chase it. I like walking with Mrs Magill, but when it’s just me and the dog, I can practice my voice without feeling like a goober.

We had company Saturday afternoon, so we had a GI Party Saturday morning. Now all we have to show for it is a clean house.

Sunday, we had that mixer for progressives in the neighborhood. It was refreshing to see several friendly faces. Living in a deep red area, you never know about your neighbors. We got to meet the Democratic candidates for the State House and Senate. They seem like good people.

Seriousness should be something that happens to other people.

A mental health day on occasion is a good thing.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Not a whole lot planned today, but :dramatic pose: I’ll survive.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I was back to loading, this time on 100 Bottom blue and Bottom Green. Which wasn’t horrible, except the car serving the Fenton Place shopping center had 381 pieces, and the were almost all big boes. So after loading 3/4 of it, they did an add cut of Potty Barn ands Williams Sonoma, to get it down to 310 pieces. And that still mostly filled it, and the driver had to leave a couple of irregs behind. And since the guy doing the irregs was salvoing them, andnot taping open pacakges, I got a little cut on my had from one metal pole, and almost got my foot crushed betwwen a chair, and one of the Pottery Barn cut boxes. So I sounded like boofae’s weather widget. I got gas, then did my Aldi run, only $50 this week.
I ususally don’t take an extra day off, and when I do, it’s so I can help out a friend do something.

Sounds like work.

This.

Well, I’m mental every day.

I am in a really good mood this morning. Hopefully this meeting I’m in doesn’t screw it up.

60F at 1040. Severe weather was originally forecast for later today, but now looks to be veering off.

We were supposed to go on the outing, as mentioned, but the wife’s arm pain and a bouncing, swaying van aren’t going to mix. I hope it’s not serious, but it’s been going on for a number of days and she won’t go to a doctor. It’s up near the shoulder, so possibly a rotor cuff strain, but it could also be a compressed nerve or blood vessel. She’s worse about doctors than I am, if that’s possible.

Exercised and puzzles puzzed. Nothing else going on today other than making chili and awaiting a delivery of eggs and bacon from Amazon.

Nope! You’re going to have to try harder than that, day!

If I have nothing serious planned, there will be baking and cooking. And maybe a walk. And definitely some reading.

After two 4-day weeks, I‘m expected to work all 5 days. Woe is me.

Just in case.

And I’m back. I did the cleaning on the boat, then touched up a lot of wood with Cetol - more than I’d originally planned, but it was needed. Next stop was Lowes where I go an azalea, 2 pots of shasta daisies, the paint, and some roller covers. After that was Aldi where I intended to get 2 salads for tonight’s supper. Fifty-some dollars later… But I actually scored some good deals, including 8 oz packs of white 'shrooms for $1.15!!

Once I got home, I fed Otis, unpacked the groceries, and fed my face. Shortly, I’ll head out to plant my purchases. The house is open - it’s not too hot yet so no need for a/c. That’ll probably be tomorrow when it hits 90. Anyway, once my playtime in dirt is done, I’ll have some chillage time.

For those following breathlessly along with the silly workplace drama from last week, it wrapped up with a highly satisfactory ending, and how often does that happen.

S.M. was finally back yesterday, clearly feeling like shit but determined to return. She pulled me aside for a quiet word, and y’all, it was like she had read my posts here. Apologized for the lack of communication with just me when everyone else had gotten a heads up, and for all the fallout that came from that.

I felt soooo much better hearing that from her, unprompted.

She was damn grumpy during the subsequent rush of orders, but once things calmed down she very genuinely apologized to everyone for snapping, explaining that she still hurt & felt sick but that we were all doing a really good job.

Class act, that lady.

As a bonus, the teenager to whom I apologized earlier (nobody told me he was in this assistant manager training program they literally just cooked up!) was clearly making some efforts to communicate better, so that was nice.

Oh, and Monkey did NOT shoot out the door when I got home (though he was thinking about it!) good thing too because I had no intention of staying up one minute longer than necessary. Was already in bed & dozing off less than 20 minutes after I got home.

Heard the rattle-bang of the trash truck earlier, so the bin needs to be retrieved, and if the rain holds off I need to take out Monkey’s litter box .. and set up the replacement, too.

(Plus some nonsense about “being a responsible adult” and “get your taxes done” with a side order of laundry.)

For now, he’s curled up right next to me, rumbling softly. Whenever he starts to drift off to sleepyland, I reach over and give him gentle pets, which re-starts the purr motor.

Afternoon all.

I have not forgot about tomorrow- I have all the stuff ready to go. Thanks for the reminders!

Had a very silly day though. Sadly it would be a bit too complicated to explain why it was so silly, but basically all the stuff that should have been complicated was solved by the right person unexpectedly appearing at the right time, while all the stuff that should have been extremely basic was screwed up in novel and interesting ways.

Saw my first swallow of the year on the way home. Summer is on the way… Honest.

When Daughter was here on Sat, she pointed out some iris growing in the ditch. They were some I’d flang is too a word as likely dead when I was transplanting last fall, and they were resurrected in the leaf debris. So I moved them after I planted the azalea and daisies. They’re all getting a drink right now.

I then started beheading the far-too-numerous wisteria creepers that were climbing trees and spreading across the ground. Didn’t get them all but I got more than half. So I’m taking a break and deciding if I’ll do anymore gardening.
