Yes, I’ve been a few times; can’t go this year, though.
:dubious: Here, Swampy, have a fish.
All in all - es macht nicht. It is an odd company. Right now the AMZL side is the “best place” in terms of being treated like a human and the FCs are waaay worse than we are. Depending on who the site lead is and who their team is. It really does depend that much on the 1-2 people at the top of your particular food chain. I helped Cincy when they opened and a couple people who remembered me came and helped us some this winter. They were all WTF happened here??? And I told them wait your turn. TNG (The Next Generation) isn’t always as dedicated as the first cast.
We got three trucks tonight they never told us we were getting and one 53 foot trailer I (personally) had to wait for to deal with had 4 packages. I managed that myself. :smack: So basically the line forms behind me.
And my doubles start tomorrow.
Worked, came home
It was very Monday. Late for work “thanks” to the bus, so didn’t have time for breakfast* until my first break (2hr in). We were also quite shorthanded today, and Moanday is always super-busy. Argh! On the plus side, no significant crazy, nasty, and/or stupid.
Today. Full moon is tomorrow.
Back in the office - rah!
Nettie? Wait - you haven’t been here all along, have you? Am I that out of it? No, I’m not - welcome back!!
Happy Tuesday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 98 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. This bein’ Tuesday I shall launder. Rah. Also wait around for my meds to be delivered. This is fine by me as I have no plans to leave da cave today. Sup shall be beastloaf, smashed N.O.T., and peas 'n butterbeans cooked with okra.
{{{Nettie}}}!!! ::tacklehug:::
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work.
Hey Nettie! Long time no see!
Happy Toosday!
It was a cool 66 degrees outside, but it is warming up quickly.
I had to be a little bit of a bitch this morning, but I got my son to put down the last three bags of mulch.
Now I am waiting for him so we can go pick up the chair.
Better to get it over with early before it gets hot, and while there is parking out front.
It is supposed to be in the high 90s all week and up in the 100s over the weekend.
Good to see you again Nettie!
How is your daughter doing Sunny?
That’s not being a bitch - that’s parenting!
Waiting for Josh to get his butt to work. I’ve got 2 tasks I can’t finish till I can talk to him. I swear, these engineers…
Sari, best you be a bit… female canine now; one of these days he’s going out into the real world and there are a lot of folks who won’t be as patient as you.
Howdy Nettie; hope you can stick around some.
Rain has retreated for now and it’s due to hit 88F today, but 80% chance of rain tomorrow. Need to get some soccer stuff started, but otherwise all is well. Might even get dressed…
Time to make the donuts ------- er, mine the boxes. Later dudes.
Got my other chair, still need to put the legs on it.
My son had to take it out of the box to get it in the house as the box was too big to fit through the door.
You can see a definite difference between the cheap one and the more expensive one.
I told my son no rush on getting the stone down. It’s on the side of the house where it is not in the way and the stone won’t get moldy if he doesn’t get it out of the bag.
He left the pallet out front and somebody took it. May have been the neighbor as I had given him the other pallet.
I thought about putting them in the basement so we could get some things off the floor, but then at some point we’d probably want to get rid of them. Probably could have put them in the shed though. I’m looking to get rid of stuff though, not acquire more.
Dammit. I think I’ve discovered part of the reason for my bees being crazy; I’ve lost a swarm. The site owner said he caught one that then declined to stay caught about two weeks ago, which is probably it.
Hopefully there’s a shiny new queen in there, but as there’s currently approximately 40 billion bees in there, trying to spot the one that’s not like the others isn’t a very fun game, especially when a substantial proportion of the others are trying to frantically sting you. I’m not sure how long I should leave it before trying to fix it by adding a new queen or similar.
Oh well, at least the hive’s somewhere pretty rural, so odds are good the lost swarm is somewhere not causing too many problems, rather than in someone’s chimney or cavity wall. None of the neighbours have complained yet, but they’re top of the list for getting a jar or two of honey if I do manage to harvest it. One of the newbie beekeepers in the group had to get rid of her hive 2 weeks after getting it 'cos they swarmed and the -lawyer- neighbours threatened to sue.
Anyway, hi Nettie! Hope everyone else is having a less frustrating day.
I ordered a four panel dog pen that arrived with only three panels. Now I have to send it back. My neighbor brought over a kennel that she uses for her German Shepard so therefore it is huge. Buddy took right to it even with the door open he still goes in there. He is really settling down now. Our cat Scooter is majorly pissed and will not even come into the house. I picked her up and brought her in and she immediately wanted back out so I am feeding her on the porch. Maybe when hubs gets back she will act more normal.
I am home today just because. I think I shall try to find a movie to watch. The house is fairly clean and the maid comes tomorrow. There isn’t even much laundry. If I lived alone my house would be clean all the time.
Hubby loves Maine. Said it is beautiful up there. I am glad he is getting a little break from irk. He forwarded his phone to his employee so no one is going without a/c service. That phone rings non stop. It has been so blasted hot this summer.
I made an appt for Buddy to get his initial vet appt and probably a rabies shot and will find out about the snipping then. Poor little thing. I looked up some images of Chiweenies and am positive that is what he is. He has a longer snout and bigger ears plus longer body than a chihuahua. So being a mix hopefully he will healthier. He’s a mutt. He is growing on me. He is also not as growly as he was. He didn’t growl at the neighbor at all. I also put him on the landing of the stairs so he had to go up or down. He went down so we are halfway there with the stairs.
Welcome back Nettie!
Nut how does one acquire a queen bee?
Got the other half of the table sanded down. It was by far the worst damaged of the two pieces, so took some effort. Then I thought: well, hey, it’s overcast and I’ve got the piece sitting on the sawhorses, so why not put the first coat of finish on it? Of course, about halfway through, the damn sun came out and I had to work like mad to get the rest covered and get it into the garage before things started setting up. Nothing like being soaked with sweat and covered with sawdust at the same time.
Home. Roxy had her 15-month checkup and shots today. She’s in the 100th percentile for height - her dad’s tall, and she’s obviously taking after him, altitude-wise. The shots have made her a bit crabby, but I’m sure that’ll pass by tomorrow.
**FCD **doesn’t want supper, so I’m making myself a tuna steak. Everyone else can fend for themselves.
We got a letter from our mortgage company - once again, our monthly payment is creeping up. This time, it’s because we increased our insurance to cover the new building, so it wasn’t a surprise. Still, we’ve got 11 more years of payments. Once it’s paid off, it’ll be like a major pay raise!
Butters, there’s two basic ways you can get a new queen in there- sometimes other beekeepers have spares, or some people breed them for sale, so you can straight up buy one by post. They come in a little box with a few workers who look after her, and a wodge of candy in one end that they can eat while in transit. The candy also can act as a stopper, so when in the new hive, the existing bees can smell the new one, but can’t get to her until they’ve eaten through, by which point, hopefully, they’ve calmed down about the new scent and will accept her. Otherwise your $30 bee gets dedded by the workers.
The second way is to sweet talk another beekeeper into giving you one of the frames from their hive, with eggs or newly hatched larvae. Bees will pretty well always just accept eggs and larvae, then they’ll turn one into a new queen. That does risk passing pests and diseases round, but they’ll accept a queen they raised no problems.
I reckon they probably do have a new queen in there, it just might be a few more weeks before she starts laying eggs. I might not be able to see her, but I should spot eggs or larvae. It’s late in the year for a swarm (so sadly the lost swarm is very unlikely to survive wild even if it did find a hollow tree) but there’s still plenty of boy bees around, so the new queen should have been able to find a few cute ones.
By whatever means, I hope that you get a new queen soon nut.
Yay Buddy! It sounds like he’s progressing nicely butters. Scooter should come around soon. The crate that Nelson hangs out in during the day is one that a Rottweiler could be transported in. He has a bed, a blankie, food, water and a lovey. Like Buddy, he walks in on his own accord.
Irk was slow today. My cow-orker is training the new guy this week and I get him next. On the home front, SIL and I are looking to find some trouble to get into this weekend. We may go on a day trip like we used to: just start driving and flip a coin at an intersection to determine direction.
Worked. Spent an hour on the phone waiting for a conference call, only to have it rescheduled for tomorrow.:smack: Making Chicken with Orange Ginger Sauce and rice for dinner.
Shipped like this, I assume?
But if the dead swam comes back as ghosts, does that make the boo bees?
red, Gordie has a crate, which he liked when it was in the living room. But since I moved it, he prefers the hockey goal.
So is he at least a good goalie?
