A (dreaded) vaction in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy, I say all the way cloudy however, with a predicted high of 93 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. A cool down is comin’ this way as well. About three days of temps in the mid to upper 80s! I fully expect to see an iceberg in the cee-mint pond! The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by a whole lot of nuttin’. There’s all kind of sammich makin’s here at da cave so that will take care of any need to feed.

Poor Mr. Boyd Walker! He will loose his job and be homeless before the day is over.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence. EYP is back from his vacation so it’ll be good to see him.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to day. I shall do laundry.

He’s got a trunk full of money in Arkansas. I’m sure Flytrap will help him out.

Then maybe he’ll move in with his brother, Dog.
It was an interesting place. A large house in a private communitity; it was < 1 mile from the beach. Like many of the houses down there, there was no basement & the first floor was only the garage; IOW, the houses are raised for when flooding comes.
The ‘walls’ are angled wood slats so that one can’t see in but water can flow in & out when it does get high. However, most people have golf carts to get around the roads in there. Once they get hit with a hurricane there’s gonna be an awful lot of trashed golf carts!

If you walk up the full flight of stairs to the front door, when you enter, there is a bedroom on either side, a flight of stairs up & a hallway back to the washer/dryer, another bedroom & a den/sitting area. Going upstairs takes your to the family room, the kitchen, den, & another bedroom. All of the bedrooms had their own, full bathroom. There was also a loft above that. IOW, the house was ‘upside down’.

All of the adults had bedrooms but there were more kids than beds so there was some consternation amongst them as to who got a bed or who got a ‘good’ sofa.

I went for a run one day; damn near melted. Speaking of which, Imma gonna go outside now as it only feels like 97°at this early hour & the temp is forecast to go up another 12° later in the day. Iffn it wasn’t so hoomid, I think it might be a good day for sidewalk omelets.

Morning all. Did a Krispy Kreme run this early am, so now I’m stuffed with dough, sugar, and chocolate milk…in other words, all is right with the world.

Happy Sunday!

Another hot N.O.S. day.
I got up early and got to the dog park at 7.
Now I am in for the day, and staying in.

We only stayed about an hour. Kind of a shame that as we were leaving Zeus, the doberman who looks like a weimaraner, was coming in. He and Ripple play well together. Both of them are what I call stalkers. When Ripple sees a dog he sort of crouches down, his tail goes to half mast, and he walks very carefully, his front paws crossing in front of him. Zeus does the same thing. The first time they met that is all they would do, and they would keep circling each other, so I did a play bow and they were off and running.
Ripple also bunny hops when he wants to play, he looks like a rabbit.

I’m looking forward to the cooler temps next week, the mornings are supposed to be in the 60s.

Nothing special going on today. Too hot to do much, so I will be irking most of the day.
It’s been a good week, I’ve already made twice what I usually make.
It feels good now, won’t feel so good at tax time.

I’ll drive over and check it out. Screw this guy’s 20%. Do you suppose this trunk will fit in a Ford Ranger? :dubious:

Watched the Apollo 11 film on CNN last night. Very well done, I have to say. After it was over, my wife (who has saved a lot of odd things over the years) brought out the 1969 Fall Edition of Whole Earth catalog, which featured a photo of the planet from Apollo on the cover. The catalog apparently now sells for more than the combined value of everything that was in it. She still surprises me after 25 years. The oddest thing she ever showed me was a letter to her signed by Jim Jones.

The heat wave has finally broken. Friday and Saturday the heat index was over 105. My only concern during the heat is Ariel, but the horses came in early. I bathed her Friday and I got wetter than she did. It stormed last night and is cloudy which is good cuz I am sick of the sun. My only plan today is to pick up a prescription. I slept til 8:30 which is the middle of the day to me.

Did you feel a disturbance in The Force? I just finished dusting  and vacuuming. Plus I managed to clear the counter that collects crap and give it a good wiping down. Plus before I showered, I scrubbed the shower - the only chore I hate as much as dusting. Go me!

Despite the house temp being set to 74° and all the ceiling fans going, I’m sweating like crazy. That merits a popsicle and some TV, methinks!

metal mouse, when I left SIL’s, it rained briefly coming through Lakewood and Old Hickory, sprinkled for a minute in Mount Juliet and then it was dry. Once home, I walked the dog, came in and about half way through supper, Ma Nature unleashed the thunder, lightening, wind and rain. It stormed for a good two hours or more. I’m just glad I was home when it broke.

Up, caffeinating, towels in the wash, puppy crate cleaned. The only things that have to be done today are the breakfast/lunch preps and going to pick up prescriptions. I may (or not) do the clothes laundry so’s I don’t have to tomorrow. Otherwise, it’s lazing around today.

We have trash and recycling picked up every two weeks. I miscalculated last time, so we had a month’s worth. The plastic and metal took up all three (milk crate-sized) recycling bins. The paper and cardboard fit into a cat litter box. I moved the Prius onto the lawn, put the MGB out on the street, and put the RAV4 back in its place in the driveway. I’ve only had five cups of coffee today, but it’s getting late so I don’t think I’l make another pot.

Supposedly, there’s a car show down the beach. My MG isn’t a show car, but it will be fun to drive down to see what’s happening. We’ll take it to Rite-Aid later, too.

Tonka took off Friday, and stayed away a lot longer than he usually does. Someone’s putting in a driveway across the street, and I think Tonka may have been frightened of the heavy equipment and activity. Mrs. L.A. kept him inside the house yesterday, even though nothing was going on outside. She’s keeping him inside today, too. Since he was gone so long, she’s suddenly taken to thinking that he has to stay inside to keep him safe. Poor thing! He loves lounging on the deck. He normally stays pretty close to home.

Forgot to add; thought I pulled a Rat & lost my car keys when I put my hand in my pocket at the airport. Had them, they just ended up in the wrong place after I went thru the TSA theater. Didja know a bag of Twizzlers is suspicious & required extra screening?
Mooommm make sure you see my latest post about dash cams, one on sale today.

Lazy day thus far. Nap time right now then cooking and laundry and running the mop which will take all of 10 minutes. Pup is settled down for his nap too. And Hubs is napping. Talk about a disturbance in the Force. He did work until noon.

I am disheartened re irk. Too many changes in such a short amount of time. Some are good. So many are jumping ship and more than a few are walking the plank. Then Mr. Perfect strolls in for a month and tells us how perfect he is…he would be well advised to just leave me alone as my patience is thin. I used to love my job. I know, I have a bad attitude.

Hawt as hell. It looks like the south, northeast and Midwest will have a cool down while the west suffers. Looking at you Shady and Sunny.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, came back to da cave, made sammiches and et ‘em and then nappage ensued. Nice day so far all in all. OYKW shall grill some burgers for sup cause he got a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a burger. Works for me. I might even make fries. The only other task on today’s agenda will be to haul the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for tomorrow.

Afternoon all. Dishes are washed and nappage is complete. 80F outside and N.O.S., but no particular desire to go outside. I may have slightly overdone the Krispy Kreme…

Butters, sometimes a ‘bad attitude’ is ‘I can’t stand the incompetence around here’. Think you have caught this. Hopefully folks will let you and yours alone to do your job.

Spidey, that’s what I though at first, it’s something I do now and then. Or leave them in another pair of pants (yes, I looked). That reminds me, need to go to the dealership tomorrow.

LA John, yeah, show off the MG, even if it hasn’t been babied and prettified; you have a real car, not a showpiece.

Sari, hope the heat gets turned down soon up there. Do they have water for the dogs at the park, or is everyone supposed to bring their own?

Finally finished my Big Project (refinishing the dining table). All put back together and looks pretty sharp. After 20 years of use, it was nicked, scratched, burned and dinged up pretty good. Now it’s clear and smooth as a baby’s bottom.

A Krispy Kreme just opened up in town.
We haven’t been, not much desire to go.

The park does have a water fountain, although it is turned off in the winter, probably because the pipes would freeze.

There is a normal height fountain for people and a lower fountain for the dogs, but the lower one doesn’t work.
Several people have brought bowls that we fill at the fountain.

There is a pump on the small dog side, along with their fountain.
Sometimes somebody will walk over and fill the bowls at the pump, or tall people can hand the bowl over the fence.
I wish the pump was on the big dog side since it is a lot faster and easier.

Some people bring water, and some even bring water and a bowl just for their dogs. One woman got a bit upset when Ripple tried to drink out of her dog’s bowl. There are some who quite literally do not want their dogs drinking from the community bowl or want other doggie germs in their dog’s bowl.
Okay then, dogs drink out of toilets, and mud puddles, stick their noses up each others butts, lick their private parts and you don’t want another dog’s drool in your dog’s bowl.

A girl was there the other day, her dog has a horrible rash, but she packed up her dog and went home because her pit and Ripple were playing too rough and she was afraid her dog would get hurt. Not from Ripple, but because they were slamming into the picnic tables and bumping their heads on them. If it hurts, they’ll stop.
I sometimes worry that Ripple might hurt another dog because he plays rough, but I never worry about him hurting himself running into something.

I laundered, I napped. Making poke chops with Penzy’s Bicentennial spice with baked sweet **N.O.T.**s and sauteed green beans with shallots and tomatoes. Back to work tomorrow.

[bFlyboy**, show off the MG! Someone will appreciate it.

Howdy Y’all! We supped and the kitchen is all cleanded up. I hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. We sang a hymn that is one of my particular all time favorites this mornin’, Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise. Always makes me happy.

Johnny, one of the local car shows around here has an area for vintage vehicles au naturale along with areas for rat rods and customized (non standard) restorations. That’s the one I like to go to.

metal mouse like sari’s dog park, all of the ones we’ve been to have a fountain somewhere. Usually it’s one with one at the bottom shaped like a bowl and a human one on top.

When I went to pick up my prescriptions this afternoon, I paid for them and got about halfway to the car when I realized that one of the packages was the wrong size and shape. I went back in and they had given me vials of the daytime insulin. I use pens. We ran into this last weekend and they called my PCP to get it straightened out. Only it wasn’t straightened out. I flat out told them that I can’t take vials past security at irk because they have to be refrigerated or in an insulated bag and insulated bags are a no-no at my irkplace (ruble likely has to deal with the same type of security). So they will have a come-to-Jesus with my PCP tomorrow and leave me a voicemail.

I fixed pozole verde con pollo and cilantro lime slaw for supper. Tis yum!
