I had the chicken pox but never the mumps. I also had the measles. Back then we just had the disease. Maybe I should get the shingles vaccine.
The cat is more normal now that hubby is home. She didn’t hardly even come in the house while he was away but she slept inside last night part of the night. Pup barks at her and that needs to stop.
Thank goodness for two days off. I need to go grocery shopping. I have laundry of course.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today, possibly. Gonna stay inside, since it’s triple digit Heat Index out there. I’ll need to get the shingles shot, since I had the pox as a teenager. Also, Alex Catt is snoring.
Try turning it on, too.
Congrats Nut!!!
So you were Down With The Sickness? But get the shingles vaccine. Shingles made a friend of mine miss a pub crawl, so you know that’s some serious suffering.
It’s hot.
I went to pick up the rocks and it was in the high 70s.
I wanted to take Ripple to the dog park early, but I overslept a bit and by the time I got home and got the rocks unloaded at 8:30, it was 82 feels like 91 outside.
Supposed to get up to 97, so today will be another day of staying indoors.
Irk has been busy though, I am going to have a really nice paycheck next Firday. Should be another good one the Firday after that, then everything will go back to normal.
Sitting in IHoP since the line was too long at Chick-Fil-A; chose that mainly because it was the first place I found. Dropped others at the airport & after i eat i get the joy of bumming around Charleston until its time for my flight.
They all liked me…& only partially because I did what I do best - took all the family photos & grilled (a good) dinner outside while they all sat in the mosquitoless A/C. I also held my own in the give/get shit dept (I know, you’re shocked, right.).
Saw a bunch of 'gators but one bite from one of them would be less than the collection of skeeter bites I collected…& that’s with applying bug spray they way they vote in S. Philly (Early & Often). One morning i was out for a walk, about 8am; the damn skeeters were pacing me…at 4mph. Anyway, 3 days at the beach/pool & I never pulled a bathing suit out of my bag…& I’m entirely fine with that!
Just hoping I can get the same marks next year, as I am going back for the top-up year. The final marking is something like 10% first year, 30% second, 60% third, so there’s still time to screw it all up for that!
Had to clean up after total slobs at irk today; was getting flashbacks to the old share house. I mean, I know people staying there are on holiday, I don’t expect them to clean everything, but in self catering accommodation, it really ain’t on to leave a heap of washing up in the sink, and floor to adult height sticky gunk on everything in the kitchen. There are waste paper baskets in every room, so there’s no reason to just drop multiple dirty tissues on the floor. I don’t even understand how they managed all that mess in only one week.
Anyway, never mind, now my weekend starts, and a long one too- I got nuttin’ on (or pyjamas on) til Wednesday now.
Half my laundry is inside and put away, the rest is still on the lines because it’s HOT out there!!! I’ve been knitting and watching West Wing. I should probably get the jeans and shirts in now…
Howdy Y’all! We had a mornin’ of errands followed by some quality cee-mint pond time. We et a late N.O.L./early sup of majik intartoobz pizza. Since that time chillage has ensued. I had chikin pox durin’ Christmas holidays when I was in the fourth grade thanks to my younger sis and bro. They got 'em and got to stay home from skool. I got 'em and had to stay in bed on Christmas day. That was the most evil thing they ever did to me.
Went outside for a bit to sit with Ripple.
Didn’t even last a half hour.
The air vent in the kitchen is in the floor, so he went and stood over it for a while.
I wondered what was all over my recycling bin, then figured out the something is chewing up the Great Stuff we sprayed into the squirrel hole. I don’t know if it is squirrels or birds, not that birds chew, they peck.
Glad you made it safely back from your dreaded vacation Spidey.
I took my new computer into the Apple store to get Office for Macs. I got cat litter. I stopped off at the carnicería for some chiharrones. I went to the supermarket for a few staples. I’m about to go to the Mexican restaurant for a couple of taco salads.
butters, my SIL’s younger cat is why Nelson couldn’t stay there today. Her chi, Diddy Boo and FizzGig’s mama, Luna are OK with him, but he terrifies her.
We had a good ramble today. We split a fried cherry pie from the Amish bakery, had lunch at an old school soda fountain and I bought maple syrup, some peach-jalapeno pepper jam for my dad, some SF rootbeer barrels candy and a couple of pounds of havarti cheese. It was good to get out on the backroads again.
Well I had a wasted day. Took a long nappage or sleepage. Did not make it to the store, did not do laundry, did not cook. I did play fetch with buddy, inside. He has fully mastered the stairs up and down to the bed. I just lay or sit in bed and toss the toy as far as it will go and he runs down the stairs and fetches it back. Rinse and repeat. Tis great exercise for him. He has mastered both up and down the outdoor stairs but more reluctantly. Baby steps. Potty training is hit or miss. He will use wee pads at least half the time and when I take him out he will lollygag around doing nothing and come inside and go. I am still reading my puppy training book. He has been here a week today so I see much progress. At the “rescue” he must have had to battle for treats as when I give him a nice chewy he will then growl like I may take it away. Silly pooch.
As I expected hubby irked all day and is even still irking right now. This coming Wed and Thursday are Lobster Mini Season days before the regular season opens around the 6 th of August. The hoards of ocean rapers are here. This will not affect my irk except the commute. The bag
limit is six per day per person so the hunters will bring grandma and every kid they can beg, borrow or steal. They will leave behind trashed rooms and houses like Nut has had and litter on and off the water. Several will die either from stupidity on the water or on the highway. More than a few will wind up in jail for BUI or various fishing violations. They will spend thousands of dollars for lobster that they could wait three weeks and buy legally. Insanity. I really wish this practice were abolished. It was created back in the day when the Keys were dead in the summer. Not needed now plus it is not fair to the commercial fishermen IMO.
Evening all. Pants taken to the cleaners, a little shopping done, a load of laundry completed, then the afternoon was pretty much Do-Little. Rain has been in the vicinity, heard thunder this evening but no real rain has appeared. Bleah day.
Red, looking at the Radar map, hope you got home before the storms arrived. Loos like Opry-Town is getting hit pretty good.
Butters, not working is a tough job, but I know with practice you can master it…
Sari, stay cool. I’m surprised the heat doesn’t bother Ripple more.
Got an email from a Mr. Boyd Walker informing me that there’s a trunk full of money addressed to me at the Arkansas International Airport and he wants to confirm my identity before he sends 80% of the money to me.
I’m kinda sorry I already deleted it because among other things, the sender apparently couldn’t even fill out the scam letter completely - one line said “It will be returned to Geneva by date.” or words to that effect. And, of course, if I don’t comply quickly, he could “loose” his job.
Big plans for today, especially the part about avoiding the heat, include vacuuming and  dusting  and possibly even running the mop over the kitchen floor. I’ll probably drag the hose out and soak down the planters, since they’re looking droopy - damn this heat!!! but a cold front is due thru tomorrow and Tuesday’s high right now is forecast to be 74°!! That would be loverly.
I survived traffic so thick that the drive took twice as long as it usually does. I think about 75-80% of France was going on vacation yesterday, and half of us were on A-10 (which is only two lanes to a side through a lot of its length) along with a bunch of people from Places Further North Or West.
