Spaz the senior citizen’s discount is a hoot! HEE! So, of course, I had to post a comment.
I’s sleepified but I want to watch “My Name Is Earl” (if it’s on tonight) at eight and do the horizontal tango with ol’ y’all know who. There are times when havin’ to get up early for work is just not fair!
Extra hugs for Soapy today and sending healing thoughts to the family.
Yikes about the flooring in the basement apt., Mooom! Hope it is just a once in a lifetime thing, although maybe you should look into a sump pump? gah.
I am so glad tomorrow is FIRDAY that I don’t know what to do! My daughter came be the office this afternoon and we left a bit earlier than usual, although it didn’t make too much of a difference in the time I got home. We did stop at Starbucks and I used up the rest of a christmas gift card to get an iced chai latte for me and a strawberry frappruchino for my daughter. Good stuff! I think what I might do is just put $20 on that card and then use it for treats every now and then.
In doing my usual reading of obits, I came across one that I’d seen for the past few days; today, for some reason, I was looking at the names of the surviving relatives and discovered that it was the mother of someone I went to college with; he and his then-girlfriend had gotten married and had two kids! I haven’t seen them or even thought of them in over 35 years, sadly, although the GF was a fairly good friend of mine at one point. Long story short: I joined a religious cult my sr. year in college and pretty much lost touch with a lot of my college friends. At any rate, I’m going to contact her and see if maybe we can reconnect.
**tarra **- we don’t need a sump pump. The water came in under the door - the drain just outside was clogged. We’ll need to do something about the outside drain and maybe put an awning over the doorway.
Sketties were good. Ice cream was good. Now I’m going to knit.
I keep screwing up posting. So to summarize: large doses of ibuprofen are my new bestest friends, and I want to propose marriage to the nice lady at the dentist’s office who gave me a few of the biggest ibuprofen pills I’ve ever seen. Ahhhh. That dull background ache I’d been mostly ignoring? Gone. The question of what to do next is still open, but we’ll see.
Just a quickie, I haven’t been on since I was taught that if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all. Life so far this year has been full of suckitued, and I have been trying to just deal with it and not go Section 8 on it all. Reading through the MMP it is apparent that I am not the only one mired in the quagmire of TVCTP(US)O, so I am sending out (((hugs))) and prayers to everyone who needs them. Li-li I have been where you are, and you and your family are in my prayers. Extra (((hugs))) for you, hon.
Spring has finally come to Alaska, and hopefully the suckitude will cease, it’s been going on since the first week of January, tis time for some happier days.
I still love you guys, and for the two who have sent messages regarding flowers and my absence…muwah!!!
HI KAI! waves frantically in the direction of that place where when it’s springtime it’s 40 below Why yes, I’ve been listenin’ to a lot of Johnny Cash lately, is there a reason you ask?
My mother loves that she still gets carded sometimes for her senior discount. In general people assume that if two women, quite clearly related and several decades apart, ask for two tickets (one normal, one senior), it’s true, but she does get asked for her social security card or ID card. It totally makes her day. Some places apply the senior discount to people over a certain age (so, ID) and some apply it to people who are legally retired (SS card).
Hola Nava!!! waves back energetically As a matter of fact, the temperature at the moment is 46° F, and yesterday the temp got up to 55° F and after my shower I sat on the deck and let the sun and the light breeze dry my hair. It was a treat!
I was raised on Johnny Cash, have you listened to any of the American Recordings, produced by Jerry Rubin? In my opinion they are fantastic, although heartbreaking. I highly recommend them.
I’l look for them. Sadly it’s the kind’a stuff that in Spain can pretty much only be obtained through piracy… pretty weird for someone whose work has had such a HUGE influence in Western music (by which I don’t mean Country’n’Western).
That’s a bummer. I got mine from Amazon, and if you really want them and can’t obtain them, I would be happy to buy them and ship them to you for cost. It is Johnny Cash at the edge of the end. His voice has a waver, and he exposes a vulnerable, honest side of himself. There are also songs with brutal truth and raw pain, as well as songs of deep love and the belief he held for the afterlife.
I feel very strongly for the man, and June as well. They had a special love story, and their passing was a very sad time for me. I frequently listen to both the old stuff as well as the American Recordings CDs.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Just a quick howdy. I’m about to purtify. We’re goin’ for some brekkies at Waffle House then ol’ y’all know who is on his way to West Alabammy and I get to go to work.
Morning all, up and caffeinating here, very glad it is finally FIRDAY. No waffles for me although Swampy has now put them in my head. LOL Yay for kaiwik and spring in Alaska, and especially for flowers there!
It’s not my imagination. I’ve been thinking my surgery for George hurts more than it did for his brother Fred, and I heard that this one was more involved than the last. Well, when I purtified this morning, I got my first look. instead of a cute little incision across the knuckle and 3-4 stitches, he opened my finger up lengthwise from knuckle 1 to knuckle 3.
Yuck. No wonder why I spent yesterday popping pills.
It’s better today. No pills so far, and I’m at work drinking coffee.
Hey Wiki, long time no hassle. How you doin’? <flirtacious ;)>
Good morning, and Happy Firday! It’s my RDO, and I don’t have to do much.
We’re going to the Art Car Parade tomorrow. We haven’t been in a few years, and it should be fun!
I’m gonna go see if the dog park is still flooded. We’ve been walking them every night, and it’s been very pleasant. We have some nice people around here. But the dogs need to RUN!
I’m so sorry for all the suckitude in everyone’s life of late. I wish I could share some of my mundane and mediocre life to even things out.
kai, it’s getting up into the 50s now during the day, but at night it’s still getting down to near or below freezing. Still, the afternoons are glorious! The trees should be leafing in maybe two or three more weeks if they act like they did last year.
Brains have been found and coffee has been consumed. Actually, the ladies over at Tim Horton’s pretty much have my order down pat at this point… by the time I get to the counter, they’re already dispensing sugar and cream into my cup. Clearly, I spend way too much time and money at Timmy’s.
Spring is officially here - all of my tulips started blooming in the past couple of days, the lilac is just fixin’ to do some blooming of its own, and the peach blossoms are out in full force (and the blight seems to be staying away, which means I just might get an edible peach or two this year if the squirrels don’t get to them first). Hurray.
Absolutely nothing to do work-wise today. Someone entertain me please?
