I hereby nominate Soapy as the recipient of ice cream sundae love offerings. Better?
Spaz, glad the finish line is now in sight. I am in awe of your monumental achievement. We’ll have to throw you a ticker-tape parade when you’re done to celebrate.
It quite suddenly turned gorgeous and warm and sunny in the past couple of hours (after being hazy and blah earlier), so I’m gonna change into my grubbies and go do some weeding in the garden. Stoopit dandelions sprouted up practically overnight… but I will emerge victorious because I’m bigger, stronger and have one of these.
I think I might be able to convince The Boy to grill up some more chicken for din din, and there are plenty of leftover NOT from the weekend that will make a lovely sallit.
Have I mentioned lately how damned much I love coming home and knowing I’ve still got a few hours of daylight to do stuff? LOVE it.
Beware dandelions! Muppet comes forth with her Fiskars of Doom!
{{{LiLi}}} many good thoughts and prayers headed your way.
I decided to make a run to the store and buy a head of cabbage and make coleslaw for the hotdawgs. That way there was truly a veggie. I only used a quarter of it, so tomorrow the rest shall turn into steamed cabbage to go with the meatloaf I have already made and will pop in the oven upon arrivin’ at da cave after work tomorrow. The good thing about goin’ in early is gettin’ off early enough in the afternoon to make stuff like meatloaf and cabbage for dindin. YUM!
Whew! Our little neighborhood had a cable/net outage for over 3 hours!! I called to ask and the lady on the trouble desk thanked me for not being nasty about it. Sheesh - like it’s her fault?!? Anyway, I’m back - yay.
The kids went to the Japanese steak house for their anniv dinner. I gave them my check card - dinner is on us.
Welcome, Enniaunus! I think you’re our first “first post” Mumper. That deserves… um… something. ummmmm, have a muffin!
If I didn’t have to go to Archivin’ Work tomorrow and work on a huge stack of photographs, this would be occurring. Instead, I shall do that this weekend. When I should be graduating.
Hell with it. I didn’t want to walk this time. One of the people who should be able to see me do it can’t.
Congrats on the thesis-izing!
I am out of a hot bath and in my jammies. Annoying coworker who won’t (ever) reciprocate left me a message on my cell (how did she get that number?) asking me to work tomorrow at 0530. Um, NO. Two reasons: I am working the rest of this week and only have tomorrow off, and you never fill in for me, and I don’t like you calling my husband and asking if I’m off tomorrow. (he told her to call my cell–good on him. Oh, that’s how she got the number. Duh).
Usually I try to help out, but this is the second time in 2 weeks she’s asked me and she never, ever works the afternoon shift. She’s the one who thinks she’s doing me a favor by “letting” me take her days.
Ok, enough venting about that. I’m waiting for darkness and bliss in the land of Nod…
I’m pooped, but I’m off tomorrow. I’m eating dinner(corn, hash browns, leftover deli chicken). Nelly is either playing with Gordie, or trying to kill and eat him in a most lethargic way. It’s raining.
FCM, it’s a most tremendous time waster. Congrats to SiL and FCDaughter!
Muppet, that looks like an alien anal probe.
mnemosyne, the Canes’ back up goaltender played in the longer game in AHL history(82:58 minutes of overtime). He also was once ejected from an AHL game for fighting our #1 goalie.
Fact: Because I cannot stand the teacher’s lectures, I have not actually been to lecture in a month.
Fact: I started reading the material the test would cover on Saturday.
Fact: I skipped sleep last night to study.
Fact: I took the test this morning on no sleep and having only begun looking at the material two days prior.
Fact: I not only got an A, I got the highest exam grade I’ve ever gotten on one of this teacher’s exams, in both Physics 121 and 122.
I’m exhausted, stupifyingly so, but so happy. Between this A, and A’s on my last Dynamics exam and Calc quiz (both last Thursday), I actually feel somewhat competent for the first time in way too long.
Other than that; I got nuttin’. I am too tired to rack my brain for little factoids.
Welcome to the nubs.
Great big hugs to** Li-Li **and family. I’m thinking of you.
FCM, check your Facebook.
Grats, **Spaz, **on the completion of your thesis.
Work was pure suckage, but what else is new…:dubious::mad:
Sigh…I guess I should get dinner going. I’m tired, but I need to cook.
Oh, I had a blast at the horse races yesterday. I never won big, but I always won enough to cover my next bets with a little left over. The food and drinks are way overpriced, but that’s not surprising. Fortunately, the weather was very nice yesterday.
I should cook dinner. Can you tell I’m procrastinating?
I was reading the overtime wiki, and at the bottom, it says that a high school game was halted for the player’s safety after 109 minutes of play, though the longest high school game was 125 minutes total.
I can’t believe you already have exam grades within a day of taking it! Is this a final exam? I’ve been done my finals since Thursday and I don’t expect to get my grades until at least next week, most likely! Congrats on your good grades, though! I’m feeling alright about most of mine but I’m nearly certain that I managed to flunk my Differential Equations course, despite having studied like mad and going into it feeling like I understood everything. The exam was so hard!
Not a final, those are next week and the week after. My Physics class has four Discussion sessions of about thirty students each, one on Monday, one on Tuesday, one on Wednesday, and one on Thursday; exams are returned during Discussion. I have the Monday section, which runs from 4:30 to 6:20PM; the class itself is Mon/Wed/Fri 11:00AM to Noon. So, the teacher had four hours to grade 30 exams with three TA’s helping; not quite the herculean feat necessary to get the entire class’ exam grades back to them on test day!
Still, it was impressive, and the only time I’ve seen such prompt response. I was totally surprised to get my exam back so fast.
I’ll be taking DifEQ next semester, myself, along with Linear Algebra, Mechanics of Materials, Statistics, and Technical Writing; should be a relatively (by Engineering major standards, anyway) semester overall, although Mech of Mats is rumored to be tricksy…
Anyway, vilkommen to the MMP! It’s nice to have someone here who doesn’t make me feel so damn young!
Fact: I love it when MMPs get new people! OK, so it’s an MMPish kind’a fact
The Nephew finishes school after lunchtime on Wednesdays: last Wednesday I picked him up and I’m doing it again tomorrow. Last Wednesday had started pretty gloomy, but while I was on my way to the school the sun came out. I asked The Nephew whether he’d made the sun come out and he answered “yep.” “Preordering the weather” is a running joke with the family: I don’t know whether he gets that it’s a joke but he already knows how it goes.
Yesterday I had three phone inerviews for the same job (first with an agent that deals with consultants, then with his partner who deals with clients, then with the team leader). Today I’m having the interview with the customer. If he doesn’t decide he hates my guts, I’ll miss my brother’s birthday lunch on Sunday because I’ll be on my way to my next project. When I told him this, he said “thank you! It’s a wonderful birthday gift!”
Fact: today is the 64th anniversary of Victory in Europe (German signing of the Treaty of Defeat); I just bumped the thread Coldfire started about it, 9 years ago. It’s an SDMB tradition.
Hello to all the new Mumpers!
Yay **Spaz **for thesis completion being a few sentences away!
Yay **Moonie **for good grades and prompt professors
Yay **Nava **for (hopefully) new employment (hope I’m not jinxing you here  )
On a more somber note – more {{{}}} for Lili. You are in all of our thoughts
Fact: staying up past midnight makes Muppet a very blurfy girl.
And it’s not like I was up for any good reason or anything. Nope. Just puttering around with website designs and logos and such, when I should have been tucked in bed and getting my beauty sleep.
Needless to say, I ain’t all that purty this morning.
Congrats to Spaz and Moonie on your fantastic feats of scholarly kick-ass-ness (is is so a word).
Fingers crossed for you, Nava.
And I’m about to miss my bus, so that’s all I have time for. More random ramblings when I’ve caffeinated myself. runs
Fact: it takes a toddler less than five minutes to empt a box of tissues or completely rearrange your desktop.
Thanks, everyone, for the hugs, prayers, and thoughts. We appreciate it. I’m doing okay. Mr. Lissar stayed home from work yesterday, and Attacks Husband (who hates and loathes his job) is blowing off work today to come help. I don’t want to be alone right now. Also, Nat permitted me less than five hours sleep last night, and I’m tired.
TVCTPMO has attacked 3 times this morning. Twice they talked Freya into getting outside and playing ‘Fuck You’, which bracketed an overturned semi about a mile down the road from the VunderLair. I was first on scene…
The driver was unhurt, and crawled out the broken windshield. He was hauling a load of peanuts, and they were EVERYWHERE. Wet ice coated with greased cow turds would be easier to walk on, because an inch deep layer of raw peanuts is more akin to a layer of ball bearings.
LiLi, get yourself to the gyno ASAP. You may well need some work done to avoid an infection. More {{{{}}}} for you.
I’m not going to Brussels. 'twas weird. First, lately there’s more and more requests for consultants to be “experts” in 3 or 4 modules, sometimes with lists that really leave me wondering. For example, Quality plus Accounting plus Environmental plus Human Resources. This job was “we want someone who knows A, but who also knows b, c and d,” and they were related things; I’m an expert in A and B, but also know C (better than many so-called experts) and d. D is common enough to have manuals and books; A and B? Good luck finding people who know them, even as a and b, no books at all; C? it’s a part of E and many experts in E don’t know C at all. Today’s questions were completely focused on D and they were the kind of stupid questions that you can expert to find in a Certification exam, completely unrelated to the actual work needed to set things up. “What values can be parametrized in suchandsuch screen?” And why the heck should I remember that by heart, pray tell…
As the agent told me, “we’ll see if they don’t have to call you again, because there simply isn’t people who know A, much less who know all four.” But whatever. Now let’s see what happens with the uni…
