A Fishin’ we will go. MMP

Drae, I wholeheartedly agree with you. Ugh. So much to do today. I’ve been telling everyone and their brother that I got into Amsterdam, and that’s been fun. I only hope I hear from the other schools soon.

This weekend I’m chaining myself to my E&M textbook in preparation for the second test.
And now, the last Condiment …

Next week: SI Unit of the Day!

Lord, how I miss that. And I don’t know why I don’t do it anymore. It’s not like I have any kids waking me up or anywhere I have to be most weekends … at worst, I can throw the cats off the bed and they can be hungry for another couple hours. I just don’t sleep late anymore. My roommate stays up later and gets up earlier than me naturally, and I think that once I hear her moving around downstairs at 9 on a Saturday morning, something in my brain thinks that maybe I’ll miss something if I stay in bed.

I don’t miss anything. Maybe we watch Doctor Who and drink coffee. I could do that just as easily after noon.

Good morning and happy Friday all!

It’s been a long week, and I’m glad it’s just about over.

I’m probably too late rosie, but have a good trip and have fun meeting the other Dopers.

I hope everyone is feeling better today.

welby, sounds you like stuff about wars. You might enjoy some of the First Man in Rome Series by Dorothy McCullough. In the first few books there’s quite a lot about the Roman battles and wars. It was really interesting reading their war plans and strategies. In the books that include Cornelius Sulla, I was amazed at his strategies. Do you know they still study him in War College today? He was a weirdo of the highest order, not to mention a perv, but, his battle plans were good.

Other than that I’ve got bupkus. Hubby is home again today, but he managed to get quite a few things done around the house and yard yesterday. He’s planning more of the same today. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate.

I can’t sleep in either and it’s not because of the kids. Frankly, I just become too sore if I stay in bed too long. Also, I feel slightly guilt, and finally, I just feel like I’m wasting part of the day if I stay in bed too long.

What happens is that I get out of bed at 8:30 or 9:00, and then I spend the morning and early afternoon looking forward to my afternoon nap. Then it’s 4:30 and I’m thinking it might be too late to take a nap, and then it’s 10:00 and I say the hell with it and go to bed. Not only do I cheat myself out of sleeping late, I cheat myself out of my nap!!

The most exciting thing I did all week (other than catching up with the MMP today) was get my haircut. On one hand, this is a good thing. On the other hand… nope, pretty much a good thing. Unless the more exciting thing would be winning a bizillion dollars (US) in some lottery. That would be better than getting a haircut.

But another exciting thing was I didn’t get bitten by a dog. Another one of our techs wasn’t so much the lucky on that score though. Not the the dog was mean so much as stupid. I think the other tech was trying to “jolly” the dog along and get him into the cage. He wasn’t buying into the whole scam and bit her a little. (I don’t think he broke her skin, but he did rip a hole in the sleeve of her shirt.)

So it fell to me to cage up the stupid beastie.
“Ha ha!,” he thought (because dogs can’t talk). “If I’m a butt, I don’t have to do what they want! So I’ll be an uncooperative butt!”
“Fine, you do that,” I said. Then I grabbed him by his scruff and his “back end” and chucked him into his cage. Like a “Bum’s Rush” only into a cage rather than out of a bar.

I’ve found that subtlety is the key when you’re dealing with a recalcitrant dog. (I just looked “recalcitrant” up, and lo! It’s spelled right and used correctly. Scary.)

In other news:
Get better.
Congradulations!
Happy Birthday!
That blouse looks lovely on you. Is it new?
Pick any one that applies to you.

Oops. I forgot to add my sig so’s I can subtly pimp my little gathering.

I introduced my son to the wonders of tweezing last night. He’s a few months over thirteen, almost looms over me, has a very deep manly voice, mustache, and has extremely hairy legs. What does this have to do with tweezers? He was growing a damn unibrow, so I plucked him last night. Good lord, you would have thought I was inflicting torture on the guy.

I told him if he keeps up with it on his own, it won’t be such a painful chore. We’ll see if actually takes the lesson to heart.

As usual, I’ve read most of the MMP, but I’ve been too busy to actually respond until now. I don’t have much time as it is, so I’ll just hit a couple of high points.

FCM - I hope you get to feeling better soon. Being sick is no fun. Oh, and I’d vote for you for Overlord.

welby - Happy Birthday!

loune - Welcome to the MMP. All the Cool Kids hang out here. Sometimes they even let me wander through.

Rifty - Much Grats. I hope you enjoy it and do well in your studies there.

chaoticbear - good luck on the CLEP test.
**
Swampy** - Great MMP. The fishin tournament couldn’t have been that bad if it involved beer and bar-b-que.

I’m too lazy to scroll back through the other pages to comment on each thing. I’ll just say “Howdy Everyone” as I quickly make my way towards the exit.

This coming Monday (April 3rd) will be my 13th anniversary. Well, it will also be my wife’s anniversary, so I guess I should say it will be our 13th anniversary. I’m not sure what kind of special thing we will do to celebrate. I’m open to suggestions if anyone feels like offering any.

And before I run back out, time something <snerk>worthy. I picked up some orange flavored chicken for dinner last night. My wife and I both laughed at my fortune. Of course, she also threatened to beat me silly if it comes true.

You will meet many interesting new friends.

Hey y’all. Hi Rue!

I don’t want to share quite yet what my 3 p.m. thing was. Not just to keep you all in antici…pation. But because I’m not sure yet what will come of it. May know today - may be a couple weeks. Who knows? But what I can say is that the 3 p.m. thing went well. And I’m sure that you all can be guessing a little bit of what it is from that, so I’ll leave it at that.

It’s Friday! Whee!

Susan

See?!?! See?!?!?!
You’re missing out, chica. Be one of the Coolest of the Cool and sleep the afternoon away. You owe it to yourself! Mark it down as one day of pampering.

That’ll be $100 for my professional sleeping opinion.

Bah. For $100, you’d better be sleeping with me. And then bringing me breakfast.

Well, I’m still kinda snuffly and coughing, but this did give me a giggle. :stuck_out_tongue: The steamy shower really helps, and I tried to nap, but I’m too awake. So I’ll surf and watch TV and maybe nod off in my recliner.

FCD** was supposed to be working at home today, but he just left for Hunt Valley - he’s having problems with the programming he’s trying to write. So I’m alone again. Except for the dog. And the cat. And that one remaining brownie… Excuse me for a minute…

Hmm… your 3pm thing sounds an awful lot like my 3pm thing. If it’s the same kind of thing, good luck!!

Excuse me, but are you trying to make me into a whore?!?!?!

'sides, I believe in mutual spoiling. Equal opportunity breakfast, as far as I’m concerned.
I’m more expensive than a hundred bucks. Lemme do the math…that’s um…hourly…carry the one…
100 bucks per 15 minute session, 400 bucks per hour. That sounds about fair.

I think I may be on the mend. Not good enough to go to work, but I should be able to return on Monday. So that’s good. I tried to go on line and do my time card, but my supervisor already certified it - she has me working today. She’s out of town, so she can’t know that I’m not working. I’ll need to get her to fix it first thing Monday.

I’m hungry, which is probably good. But FCD isn’t here and there’s not a lot in the house to eat - at least not easy stuff. I don’t feel like making a real meal, and I ate all the soup I bought yesterday. Plus someone ate the last brownie, so there’s no chocolate in the house. I am not pleased. I don’t think there’s any boxed mac-n-cheese, either, the ultimate comfort food. That’s what I want. I just don’t feel like building some from scratch.

Being sick sucks. Nobody wants to worship a snuffling Overlord. <whine whine whine>

Aw. Wraps FCMO back up in the comfy fleecy blanket and makes some chicken noodle soup

This is why you need a #2. What happens if you can’t perform your Overlord-ish duties for a short period of time?

We need fail-safe mechanisms in place in case you’re not around!!!
Ah…nice day…I skipped two of my three classes today to impart eternal wisdom. I’d say my priorities are raaaaaaaaaaather squared away right now.

Obviously, we need a way to get you a steady stream of high quality chocolate, as well. Do you prefer a steady stream of Godiva, or would you like some Russel Schmidt and various Swiss chcolates sprinkled in there as well?

Oh, by the way, what part of the chcolate bunnies do you eat first? I’m allll about the ears. They’re like lightning rods for oral attention.
…yeah, I’m going to exercise restraint now. I could/should follow that up with something, but I’m going to let it float on.

Makes Lissla’s cadre of husbands seem like a good idea now, doesn’t it FCM?

What, is Lissa reverse Mourmon?

Maybe she should change her name to The Sausage Creature .

Howdy Rue and BelZ! Good to see y’all.

I got stuff I need to get done but I don’t wanna! It’s like 82 degrees and sunny outside and I got me some spring fever! Guess I better do some work though, dangit!
