A Foolish April MMP

Morning all,

Happy Firday. Irking till noon then trying to figure out how to enjoy the 80 degree weather. Of course it will be back in the 50s next week. :eyeroll: Mr. Jynxster plans to take the lawn mower in for service, call the people who apparently have the lien on his truck title even though he paid it off 7 years ago and do the taxes. I is scared of the results of any/all of that.

Whew, busy week. No time to catch up today, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love you.

Rosie and Apes, am I the only person that actually enjoys moving? I love it. The organization, the packing, the unpacking and deciding where things are going to live now … Am I weird? I’m weird, aren’t I?

Still waiting on a buyer for the condo. I hate waiting. There is so much I could be doing, if only I had a date I knew I needed to do it by. Grr.

Good morning all. Not much going on now, but I’m assuming that it will change for the worse. After all, I’m not allowed to have a week at work that isn’t five Mondays in a row.

Hopefully, the porch roof guy calls back today to tell us that his crew can start dismantling it to see the extent of the water damage. We should have heard from him on Wednesday, but he only sent a quick text saying that he’d get in touch before the end of the week on scheduling.

Yeah yeah, I’m alive.

In other news…well there is no other news really. :stuck_out_tongue:

I put in an application yesterday for the Bus Guy job at a local district. HUGE place, over 250 buses, 12,000 kids transported every day. It’s in the district that both the **CatKid **and I attended school for 12 years, where my dad and I both served on the school board and where there’s a Middle School bearing his name.

The business manager, the superintendent and a couple board members are friends of mine, yet I’m not entirely sure that:

(A) I’m any kind of a lock because they have a capable, really nice guy that’s currently the soon to be retired director’s assistant, and
(2) I even want to leave my cushy K-8, 60 bus operation for a place with all that much more work.

Still I figure the worst that happens is that I end up right here where I’m pretty happy and very nicely compensated.

Oh, I also have my left arm in a sling these days. Tripped and fell in the yard last weekend. Finally made it to the doc on Tuesday and I apparently partially tore a shoulder ligament. It ought to heal with immobility, rest, etc… but this sling nonsense is for the birds.

BLURF!

rainy weather induces migraine-like sinus headache. no going out today. :frowning:

Morning, y’all. I’m up and caffeinated. Work tonight. Awesome tailgate last night, and a good game, even.

Good luck on the moving, Apes.

Congrats on being quo, rosie, good luck on your move.

Drae, i enjoy organizing and tossing old stuff away, just not moving(between my self and assorted friends, family, and priests, I’ve doen 40 moves in 43 years).

BusDude , ouch. hope it heals quick, and you get the choice of jobs.

FCM, maybe Higgs should have given the guy a deposit instead.

I’m not normally a Mumper, but with the.kind of week it’s been, I thought I could use a little kaffee-klatsch-type back-fence chit-chat (to coin a phrase). I must say, y’all do have an interesting dialect. I think I managed to pick up all the words (except Higgs), although it took until nearly post 200to figure out Sahirrnee’s HFH probably stands for Houseguests From Hell.

Did I get that right?

Anyway, thank you all for a very enjoyable thread. Perhaps I’ll be by next Moanday and join in the fun.

Since Higgs isn’t my dog, I don’t get a lot of say in her demise. And **FCD **would have gotten up with her this morning, but I was awake and not falling back to sleep any time soon. Now that I’ve had another 2 hours of semi-dozing, plus showered, dressed, and breakfasted, I’m in a better mood. At least for a while.

**CatDude **- you can’t have a sling without a collection of good stories of how it happened. Did you ever see The Big Fix with Richard Dreyfuss? He had a cast on one wrist and every time someone asked him about it, he had a different, more fantastic story. In the end we find out he broke it skateboarding. So you need to come up with tales of swash-buckling, fighting off ninjas, thwarting thugs, taming lions, or whatever! Amaze your friends!!!

I like moving just fine when someone else does all the heavy lifting. But I really hate figuring out where everything should live in my kitchen. We remodeled ours 10 years ago, and I’m still not sure I like where I decided to put everything, but I’m not about to change it now. I did move a few things when I cleaned the cabinets a few weeks ago and so far, I think I made good choices.

It’s overcast and windy, tho we’re promised temps near 70° this afternoon. For now, it’s just gloomy and dreary and unspringlike.

To clay or not to clay - that is today’s question…

**Dad **- Higgs is a black pug who thinks she runs the FairyChatHousehold. She’s named for Peter Higgs, discoverer of the boson that bears his name, because that’s the best we could come up with when we got her.

Welcome to the playground! Do come back - we’re a relatively harmless bunch… most of the time.

Oh cool now we have a Moooommmm and a Dad
So Dad now that you’re home what did you bring me?

Yes HFH stands for Houseguests from Hell.

Have you seen our sticky?

Welcome Dad, that was an easy nickname wasn’t it.

Mr. and Ms. Meth have not been seen for a while, hole punch will remain unused. Repo man is looking for their car, I see some quality walking time in their future.

Coffee and hippy breakfast coming up.

Cheers all

Jim

Most of us don’t bite. Much.

Don’t worry about staying on-topic. Each week’s thread comes conveniently pre-hijacked.

Blurf.

Blurfy blurfy blurfitty blurf.
Bed about 3ay emm, kept waking up, finally dragged self out pf bed at 1 pee emm, back out to do it all again shortly. Rotten co-worker getting grumpy with me because I’m listening to the client, not him when there’s conflict. He’s an idiot.

The event manager is now resorting to phoning our staff directly rather than trusting RCW, officially our coordinator, to pass messages on, because RCW’s more bothered about people doing what he arbitarily decides than actually meeting client needs.

He keeps doing stuff like telling me to leave an area, drive back to HQ, and then he’ll send someone else out, when a) the client’s contract with the venue says they must have 2 guards on at all times the building is open, b) it would take a minimum of about 15 minutes to switch and probably much longer, c) the event manager and site manager both aked me not to leave until a replacement arrived, d) there is no reason whatsoever why I should be swapped over anyway and finally e) the caretaker of the venue lives in the neighbouring building, so can check if they’re sticking with the rules by simply looking out of the window.

All in all, it meant risking losing one of the venues midway through the run (which would be an absolute disaster for the event as it’s taken months to set up) for no better reason than one eejit saying so, and he’s sulking at me for pointing this out (without the eejit bit even) and going with what I’m asked to do by, you know, the people actually paying the bill.

Only two more days at least…

This is not necessarily true; if we have a good OP we stay on topic for a whole 5 posts or so.
Oh, & Daaddd, [del]offerings[/del] gifts are [del]expected[/del] always welcome from newbies. Certain people, manly the guys (including me) like beer, good beer. Certain people, mainly females, like chocolate.

One other thing, there’s an [del]initiation[/del] fun welcoming ceremony involving squid & a goat, but [del]don’t worry[/del] try not to think about that.

Welcome!

I like money.

Money buys beer and chocolate. And bacon.
