Smokeage has been accomplished! Purty chikin boobs and laigs. Chikin and ribs shall be tomorrow’s feast. BBQ sammiches today. The chipped, smoked <snerk> Butt! <snerk> is in the slow cooker. Beer is also iced down bein’ as I also went over to the church house and got ice. Holy Moly Dip (the velveeta, ground beast, rotel ‘maters stuff) is simmerin’ for snackage out by the cee-mint pond. Other snack type stuff shall also appear as a couple folks are bringin’ munchie stuff.
Butters an electric smoker is a great thing. Like MOOOOOOM it’s one of my favorite appliances even though it is a kinda PITA to clean up. I foresee cleanage occurin’ tomorrow mornin’. ICK!
I’m feelin’ a little bit tahrd what with all the stuff I got done this mornin’. Who knew partayin’ could be such hard irk!
Woke up to a cool, pleasant 65 degrees. It’s now 78 and climbing. High is supposed to be 92 to 95. :dubious::eek: We thought we were going to get cooling trend starting next Tuesday, but nope, temps are going to be 90 and above through the next coming week too. Sunday is supposed to be 95 or higher.
I want my rain, damn it! This is the PNW, not the Southwest.
Not much on the agenda for today. Son is getting new wheels and tires on his Jeep; laundry, grocery shopping, that’s about it. Seeing as how I don’t have a cee-mint pond, I just get to swelter.
We went on an errand to find something **FCD **needs for his electrical work. No luck with that, but he wanted to stop at Popeye’s for lunch, so we did. I’ll never do that again. They put their damned cajun spices on everything! I don’t like spicy hot, but I got it.
I decided to try their hushpuppy battered butterfly shrimps. Where I come from, hushpuppy batter is sweet and very benign. That’s what I was expecting. Instead, my mouth was on fire. I realize some folks will scoff, claiming it’s not hot at all. Well on you! I’m very sensitive, and I deem it was to damned hot. So I will not eat there again. Which is too bad, because the shrimps were quite good and tender, but I’m not going to order shrimp and scrape all the coating off.
The house is closed up again as the temp has risen above 80. It’s looking like it wants to rain. I’m feeling like I want to snooze. I may empty the dishwasher, then assume the position in front of Netflix. We shall see…
My Army veterinarian friend called in some medicine for LOUIE that will slow the growth of this tumor. I made an appt with the best Vet in the Keys for Monday to see if further resection is possible. A good knowledgable friend sent me a message that this type of cancer is 80% curable if it can all be removed. I have a little more hope now.
The Vet I have the appointment with is a world renowned reptile expert and he speaks all over the world. He is expensive but I will mortgage my house if I can save my baby. At least I want to give him the best chance I can.
Home from irk. As expected we were crazy busy. It never did rain and it is awful hot. I think I feel a nap coming on.
Butters best of luck with Louie. Find out all of your options and make a reasoned decision. One piece of advice I will offer, FWIW. I went into debt that I am still paying off 10 years later for my best beloved, most awesome dog. I miss him to this day. My extended family still reminiscences about him at holidays. Kubla was a truly wonderful dog.
I looked at the options, felt that he was young enough to have several good years left if he beat the cancer, and we proceeded. The good news was, Kubla did beat the cancer. The bad news was it was a blood-based cancer. The treatments aged him prematurely, so he was never the same after. Always a little cranky and never really interested in anyone but me again. Second, he ended up with a completely unrelated spinal condition a year later. He couldn’t walk. I ended up giving up at that point.
I think your type of cancer is completely different, but make sure you understand what the treatments are and how they will impact your dog. PM if you want to talk. Good luck.

{{{Rosie}}} my spoons are low also today. I borrowed from today to get through yesterday.
Today is brekkie at Betsy’s and then we shall see Inside Out. I hope there will not be much crying. I hear it makes grown-ups cry.

DigiBeta is a digital Betatape based recording system, probably 15-20 years old. If that’s what was stolen they stole utter crap.
[/QUOTE]
I figured it was old and probably now just in the hands of high school students, even if it was state of the art or at lease a de facto standard years ago. Back when I was in school, we were using unreasonably bright orangecamerasand U-matic tape. All hot new stuff for the era, hopeless antiques today…
So what are the pros shooting now? I think the last time I actually had my hands on a camera, it was Betacam. No bloody SP, SX or digi.
Folks mostly use Panasonic P2 digital media cameras or Sony’s XDCAM (which is what I use). I record on 32gb SD cards and dub straight into the computer I am typing on now to edit.
They are a lot of fun to mess with. I started with U-matic, then went to Betacam, MII (a horrible pre-DVCPro format from Panasonic when they first started in the business), Back to Beta, then DVCPro (great system transitioning from tape to digital - digital on tape) to today’s XDCAM.
Also learned on huge old sat trucks, microwave trucks & the like. Now even networks are going live via little backpacks like TVU feeding signals over wireless cards via IP to the broadcaster…
dooogioooo yes a reptile expert. He also is on the faculty of two veterinarian schools and holds all sorts of specialty degrees and has a long string of letters after his name. He is the best we have down here at the end of the world. SUNNY. Whatever happens I do not want my boy to suffer. It’s not about me at this point.
doggio, I gotta ask - do you cook anything other than chicken and rice??
We had mac-n-cheese-n-peas because it was fast and easy. Shortly, we will drive to Lowe’s because **FCD **needs something and he doesn’t want to go out tomorrow. So that’s what we do for fun on a Firday night.
About as exciting as our projected evening, which involves a Walmart run for things like Lysol. DH is reporting a craving for Chick-Fil-A, so we’re headed that direction, looks like (it’s not like I’m going to say no to food I like that much, that I don’t have to cook after a busy day at irk). We’re also planning to stay holed up in the safety of the mini-cave tomorrow. My plans for tomorrow will probably involve a lot of sleeping.
I haven’t smoked anything in so long I almost --------- ah Hell, I remember damn well how to do it. Maybe Sunday. Or maybe all next week. I will give me a chance to stock the freezer for when Herself leaves me. (the 15th but I’m trying not to look like I’m counting or anything )
Prayers continue to ascend for Butters & Louie. Hugs to you both.
