@#$%^&*!!! My headlight is out; to replace it you have to remove screws & go in thru the wheel well, some of said (plastic) screws are stripped.
I came home, turned the wheel all the way to one side, went inside to get the screwdrivers, came back out & it’s now spitting & more importantly, rumbling. Imma not sitting on the ground in a thunderbooming rain.
Iffn I don’t get started, Mr. Murphy states that the storm will pass w/o making the driveway wet. Iffn I do get started, I’m liable to see Noah floating by.
You do NOT use a defibrillator on someone who has fainted. :smack:
Having an extra day off today, as due to building works, irk has no electricity for half the night. T’was decreed that one of the normal night shift should come in with the manager at 2ay emm, for a 4 hour shift, and the other should just take an extra day off. Bizarrely, my co-irker volunteered for the crazy o’clock short shift, so I get a 3 day weekend.
Glad I did, 'cos it was too hot to sleep this afternoon- in 'Murrican, it was in the 80s!
It’s hot for us, OK?
My main excitement for the day though was getting a few thousand new pets; yup, only about 5 years after getting interested in the idea, I finally got bees!
Annoyingly, I forgot my camera, (though I’m not sure the new pet rule applied to bees anyway), but as I left them in the container they came in overnight anyway, to settle down, pictures would pretty much have been a box. I’ll move them into their new hive tomorrow, which should be exciting. I hope they like it!
I keep worrying I’ve forgotten something important about setting it all up, but that’s probably just paranoia.
Funnel clouds sound scary, but… Kind of cool? We just don’t get weather like that. We just get normal clouds, and plenty of them.
We have defibrillators hanging on the wall at work, like unto fire extinguishers.
I have a list of folks I’d like to try them out on. They don’t have to have a heart attack, or faint.
I just want them to hold still.
:dubious:
Well for one, it’s dangerous to shock someone who doesn’t need it & fainting doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with cardiac rhythm. For another, an AED will analyze the heart rhythm & if it’s not the right one, it won’t do anything so all you’ve done is waste an expensive set of (previously sealed) pads.
A defibrillator (not an AED) can be set to manually shock, even if otherwise not advised; Bobbio & I know how to use both types. However, I would not do something that would potentially cause harm to you.
If your neck is hurting, I suggest some rope - tie a short, sturdy rope around your neck & tie the other end around a sufficiently large tree limb. If done correctly, your neck will cease to bother you. (This is where you should thank me for the free medical advice that I’ve typed just for you.)
Didn’t rain here, but my friend was at a concert about 10 miles away. Originally a ‘lawn’ show they decided to move it to the covered stage. At least the stairs were clean & washed. She said the pit seats totally flooded in about 3 minutes.
I was going shooting today ---- until I went down to the gun safe and found the water heater tank was leaking. From near the bottom. That ain’t a good sign. The good news is that it hadn’t been leaking long. The bad news is that final repair won’t be until tomorrow costing me another day out of my life and screwing up all my plans for basically the entire week. Welcome to time off around here. Oh – and repairs will be about $1100. <sigh> The joys of being part of the Landed Gentry.
<Checks the SDMB Portrait Gallery - finds no picture. Doesn’t remember Cats gender or marital status. Thinks fast.>
QUICK! Someone else start mouth-to-mouth!!!
Unless it’s Flytrap and we load his pockets with popcorn first?
Totally forgot a story from today. So I had an easy day early, and my odd assignment was to go to the Capitol and video a statue in the Statuary of a guy from California for a story we’re working on. It takes a lot of begging to get into that area with a camera and tripod, so at 4:30pm they let me in to shoot a few minutes of shots.
After this I marched back over to my illegally parked car near the Supreme Court and began feeding the video in. Then about 5:15 I hear a call go out for smoke in the Metro station at 12th & C NW, Federal Triangle. I bust ass over that way but on the way I hear it’s just smoking brakes on a train and the train already unloaded, went out of service and left to go to the yard. However the station told me to keep going and I did.
So I get on scene a few minutes later, park, grab camera tripod and scanner and walk up. The street was blocked on our side by a fire truck sitting across all lanes, and on the other direction a ladder truck blocked all but one lane, making it (I thought) obvious the road was closed.
Except for this one guy from Ohio… He say there waiting for the light to turn green and I could read his expression - he wasn’t going to U-turn like all the other cars.
I yelled “Road’s closed!” He waved me off.
“Are you serious? What do you think the firetruck is doing here?” He shoots me a dirty look and tries to drive by me.
So I set up in front of him. He edged forward like he was going to bump me. I looked at him with a grin as if to say ‘try it!’
I get a couple shots then go to move for another angle. As I step away I say one last time “Listen you dumb fucker you can’t drive through there.” He shoots me the finger and proceeds around the fire engine…
Right up to the approaching police officer. License and registration time.
I made short work of the scene and was heading back to my car to feed the video as I overheard the cop saying “You should have listened to the news guy!”
