A Football Follow-up MMP

Thanks, doggio, and anyone else I missed thanking. I’m too tired to brain tonight. I think I’ll exchange my respectable clothing for a robe and slippers, then assume the afghan position.

Tahred…

Charged with “going over into the left lane.”

Okay.

Good luck on getting the ding on the credit report cleared up, sunny. I had one that went on for ~15 years. All I knew was that it was from the state of Indiana. Unfortunately, no one seemed to know what departement I owed money to and how much. When I began making car loan applications, all of a sudden, I received a “tax amnesty” letter from them, reducing the bill by 75%. :smack: Had they told me that fifteen years earlier, they would have received payment in full. :smack: :smack:

And then flipping his truck.

Doggy still at vet. Doggy will be mad at me. Actually not true. Doggy will be VERY glad to see me and pull me out to the car and be very glad to come home. He was shaking when I took him in and tried to hide behind me. He’s just a little too big to get away with it.

I hope we get answers from this… poor kiddo.

Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. ‘Twas good and a larger crowd than expected so that made it double good. Tomorrow I shall spend time in puttin’ together food boxes of non-perishable items as well as gettin’ stuff like blankets etc to shelters. Lot of people displaced due to the tornado. OYKW and I are makin’ a donation to the Deacon’s discretionary fund at St. Pat’s. Our Deacon (her name is Joy) if fantastic at findin’ resources and has been workin’ tirelessly to assist victims of the recent storms. We love Joy. Whenever we sing the hymn, “I Come With Joy To Meet My Lord”, we point at her when we sing “Joy.”

Sunny hope you get the credit thing cleared soonest and that doggy is OK.

Today has been a wasted day. I slept until noon, stayed up for a while, then went back to bed and slept until 5.
I’m not sick, but I am tired. I had cramps in my leg all night, the kind that run down the front of the shin. It’s still sore.
{{{Sunny Doggy}}} Hopefully it will be something easy that just needs a pill to fix.

A Dam Cat won’t eat canned cat food but he totally flips for canned dog food.
He’s starting to understand DO NOT SCRATCH MOM’S LEG. He hasn’t quite got it yet but he’s getting there.

I can’t stop yawning. I hope I sleep all night tonight and can get back to some kind of normalcy.

Good evening!

For me there aren’t too many stories of direct silliness. My job last week was to help set up venues Tuesday through Thursday then run a satellite truck Friday on the mall.

Our station rented space on the roof of the Canadian Embassy for the event. Tuesday and Wednesday I assisted others in setting up the cameras, lighting, electronics and set in a tent on the embassy’s roof. Also on Tuesday three of us went to the capitol to set up a camera on a riser about 40 feet from where the swearing in would take place.

Thursday I came in to work to find out my Friday in time had been switched from 9am to 3am. I wasn’t happy but there’s no sense in complaining. Thursday I then set up the live shot on the National Mall which involved dragging out 1200’ of fiber optic cable to connect the truck to the camera on the riser.

That night I got 3 hours of sleep before heading back into work at 3am. Then a group of four of us were dropped off by courier at 12th & E Streets NW to hike about 6 blocks into the live site at about 3:30am. We were the first ones at the gate on 12th Street when the Secret Service told us they had no information about letting the media in there (we were supposed to enter here then go to the National Mall entrance at 12th and Madison. Within 20 minutes we were joined by another 200 media types trying to get in, including about 50 or so from CNN.

The Secret Service adamantly refused to help and we were ll stuck outside for hours, everyone missing our scheduled morning live shots. Finally around 6:15 I overheard an officer say they were letting media in at 10th Street 2 blocks over. I then guided my group over there and was able to determine that yes we would be let in while the general public was still being held back. As we were waiting to be let though we found ourselves face to face with CBS’s Charlie Rose, who was also being jacked around. We added him to our group and got him through security. Charlie was due on the air at 7am for CBS and I saw he made it there with about 10 minutes to spare.

The sad thing is that none of this was surprising in the least. Dealing with security, police and the general attitude of fuck you that you get from people in authority in this town makes me certainly understand and sympathize with those who are fed up. I don’t agree with everything, but I sure understand it.

So with us in so late to miss all the morning shows we set up and checked our gear for noon and evening shows. At this point my job as a satellite truck operator gets very boring: if everything is working right I have nothing to do other than throw a switch and monitor the equipment. So to be helpful I turned on 3 scanners I had with me and listened tothe police and fire response in town.

Over time I heard the riots break out and helped our staff find report on it all. It was quite interesting to listen to. By 6pm the decision was made to tear down the live shot as our work was done. It took about 3 hours for two of us to carry out all the gear and rewind 1200’ of fiber cable, then we had to wind our way though the roadblocks to get back to the station.

After cleaning everything up at the station it was 19 hours after my work day started.

Fortunately none of my coworkers were injured during the mayhem, and this week is starting off a lot calmer.

That’s about all I have going on from my angle.

I’m working on teaching Alex Catt that is not acceptable to claw my chair when she wants skritches. Not having luck so far.

2gig, while a certain idiot in chief who shall remain nameless may not have an appreciation for the job you media folks do, some of us are glad that you’re excercising your first amendment rights.

{{{sunny pup}}}

You are a good man, Swampy.

How often do you speed vs. how often do you get pulled over? Belichick & Brady have been *caught *twice; knowwhatI’msayin’? :dubious:

I would have liked to see Packers/Steelers but now I’m rootin for [del]not New England Cheaters[/del] Hotlanter Falcons.

45[sup]th[/sup]itis?

Then I won’t wish ya’ one. Not a big fan of 'em myself…Old/young, rich/poor, want one or not, we all get exactly the same # of them per year. I don’t get why they’re such a big deal.
2gig, Nu-skin, aka Liquid Band-aid works wonders, both in advance if you’re known to get blisters in certain spots (as that rubs off before your shoe starts rubbing your skin) & after you got a wound.

Adam Cat does it because he wants treats. He ALWAYS wants treats and I am trying to cut back. He went through a 16 ounce, that is 1 POUND, container of treats in one week.
He tries scratching on the couch to get treats but that doesn’t work. Scratching on his scratching post does.

2Gig I don’t envy you your job. I think what you do is so cool but there is so much bs that goes with it.

All of this talk about football caused me to break out my old US Eagles jersey - circa 1980. One of the guys I teamed with playing back then went on to play for our national team. The only real comment from any co-workers was “why does the football look so fat?” :smack: C’mon folks ---- with all the foreign nationals we have at work SOMEONE should have recognized the design. Of course, with that old “Sam the Eagles packing a ball” crest and considering the teams record ---------

Hey, 2gig moved to Canada for the inauguration!

Blurf. Some friends and I went to the March in Washington and walked right by the Canadian embassy!

Irk is irk. Now that I’m back to where I need to be, I’m taking over my department’s resource email account. It’s a catch-all that resembles a fishing net. There’s the stuff that’s important and that has to be dealt with. There’s the stuff that’s not so important, but that still has to be dealt with. The rest is debris that doesn’t need to have anything done to it, so it goes into the garbage. A lot of it is stiff that makes me want to put my head on my desk and wonder how these people managed to finish college, let alone find gainful employment in the law enforcement profession.

Happy belated birthday, Moooommmm! Here, have some apple pie. It’s delicious.

**Tugig **- come clean - we all know you’re making the glamour and glitz of TV reporting sound less-than-desirable so we won’t envy your jet-setting life…

It wasn’t a very good night for me - I woke twice. Once, I was dreaming about our Dalmatian Pixel - she’s been gone at least 15 years, then next I was with Bryan Cranston, but the young version from Malcolm in the Middle. Plus, in the real world, I just felt lousy - I don’t think last night’s supper sat well with me. We probably won’t be going back to that restaurant.

Speaking of which, what kind of restaurant will serve one person at the table fully 5 minutes before the other? Is part of being a chef/cook knowing how to time different dishes so they’re ready about the same time? I’ll be looking for a review page for this place.

Grump grump grump grump. Happy Tuesday, I guess.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 46 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 65 and N.O.S. for the day. At least the weather is nice for all those folks dealin’ with the aftermath of the tornado. Hopefully people will be able to get back into their neighborhoods this afternoon to assess damage. I shall go over to the church house around ten to assist with the packin’ and deliverin’ of food boxes. A crew will also be makin’ up N.O.L. to distribute to crews out workin’ to continue to clear debris, restore power, etc. A lot of area restaurants are offerin’ free meals to the people who are involved with cleanup and recovery which I think is a great thing.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I suppose I should purtify and go about the public.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Glad to see you’re using your retirement for good instead of evil!

I can finally start work - the overnight maintenance was just wrapped up. Time to be productive…

Swampy, sounds like you are a good person surrounded by good people. I hope the folks you are aiming to help are appreciative, and that the damage is not too severe.

Nothing exciting going on here, I have a meeting this afternoon but nothing special, and one to prepare for tomorrow where my troublesome staffer will be told he’s moving elsewhere. I anticipate wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The banshees were swirling around the house last night. Today is a good day to stay inside. Especially since I can’t find my boat anchor anywhere.
