Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then were bears who brunched at the hog trough buffet place. This was followed by nappage. ‘Tis cloudy out and there is a possibility of rain in a bit. I wish it would. I would love to sip an adult beverage out on the back porch whilst it rains. That is so soothin’ and relaxin’ to me. Oh, the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down the road for pickup tomorrow. Tomorrow is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. Thus it is in swampland this Sunday evenin’/
I (clearly) had no idea that it was not only OK send live animals through the mail, but common! I learn somethin’ new every day…often, from y’all.
It is definitely about to rain here: it’s gotten darker, the wind has picked up a little, and the dog is acting the way she does when it’s going to rain. Radar shows it about an hour away, but I won’t be surprised if it starts sooner. Swampy, I totally hear ya about being on the porch while it rains! One of these days I’m going to have a back yard “storm observation gazebo,” but until then I will be content to watch the rain/storm through my kitchen windows from the couch. I just hope that sometime later I can catch a glimpse of the amazing moon we’re supposed to have tonight.
The rain started just as I clicked “reply”…
This reminds me - live fish get shipped too.
We had a bit of a scare earlier - we thought Roxy had let Taz out. I looked all over the house and couldn’t find him. We looked around outside, too. Then after a bit, he came moseying in from who-knows-where. Idiot cat.
The birthday party was a success and the kids seemed to have fun. I can now put faces to the names of her classmates. They all seemed to have fun running around in the basement - it was too wet to go outside. Daughter will come back tomorrow to clean the basement - she was exhausted today.
We had sketties for supper, then I ran to Food Lion to get some ice cream for later. Chillage shall ensue - I’s tahred!! Oh, and I had to turn the a/c on - it was muggy in here!!
Cleaned, napped, took Gordie out a few times. Watching the NY/Pittsburgh game to see what group of insufferable drunken Yankees will overrun the Arena next week.
Live things I have handled:
Bees
crickets
chicks
mice
reptiles
Amphibians
Also lots of (smokeless)ammo. and Chute Lube

We also handle samples for a couple dozen labs and the N.C. State Vet school, so if a zombie/rabies/Captain Tripps outbreak occurs, it will probably be in my work station.
Well, if something escapes, it’s more likely to be in the building. But package car drivers tend to work long hours so YMMV.
Evening all. Had a full day of travel, checked out of my downtown Portland hotel and took the light rail to the airport, where I picked up my rental car ($1.25 for the trip, it took about 40 minutes but for the price…). Then drove down to the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville and saw the Spruce Goose (impressive) and many other planes and rockets–Museum is definitiely on my approved list. Then drove West to the coast, then North about 40 miles and on the Coastal Highway (barely saw the coast), then back to check in at my Airport Hotel. Will try for Mt. St. Helen’s tomorrow.
Have real all but absorbed little (travel can really wear you down). Will try to update daily and hope to be back full time on Wednesday, American Airlines willing.
See all y’all on the next MMP.
Take care of that knee Mr. Di Griz. You never know when you will have to run from the Infernal Revenue Service.
