A Friday The Thirteenth MMP

(stupid character count)

Evening all. Back from the Dalles in Oregon, walked to (and from) numerous beautiful waterfalls and had dinner on a stern-wheeler boat, and the weather was extremely good (67F and some sun, no rain). So you’re welcome Portlanders for me bringing good weather with me…

Jane the Cane, you have some good and wise friends.

Baker, glad you are doing better; my knee got a little twisted on the trails today, if I move it wrong I get a twinge, but still moving pretty good.

FCM, hope the discussion helped; I think you have reason and logic on your side, but that doesn’t always carry the day. As an alternative, is there someone else in the family (or a good friend) who could come along on the boat to help keep an eye on things? Only idea I can offer.

OK, tired and tomorrow I take the light rail to the airport, get a rental car, and try to make my way to the Museum with the Spruce Goose in McMinnville.

Everyone take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Light rail runs right into the airport, so it’s relatively easy. Are you going to drive straight back up to Portland, or can I start making restaurant reservations?

Sunny, staying at a hotel near the airport Moanday and 2sday, but I can make myself available if possible. Will send you a PM.

It won’t. And I can’t not go - that would be beyond bitchy. But my displeasure at being excluded from planning will not be ignored! I will say that I’ll be so glad when Thursday gets here and we’re on the road south. I’m already getting the same questions for the third time - I think MIL is starting to lose it mentally, too. And it makes me unreasonably crazy that she pronounces quiche as kish. And she says “boughten” :open_mouth:

Today is finally Roxy’s b-day party. Since she was 4 last month for her party at home, she’s obviously 5 today, right?? How do you explain time to a little kid?? Not my problem, of course. heeheeheehee Anyway, my daughter will be over early to finish preparing, then SIL will bring the kids a bit later, and guests theoretically arrive at 2. Here’s hoping the rain holds off.

Other than that, just the usual. Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 and partly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by bein’ bears who brunch at a local hog trough buffet place as a change of pace from the club. I foresee nappage and sloth after that, with some possible quality cee-mint pond time thrown in for good measure.

I did not post again yestiddy (duh!) as I was tahrd when I got back to da cave from assistin’ with spiffin’ up the church house grounds. I scored Diet Poopsies and ham steaks from the Food Kitteh as well. Anywho, I trimmed a buncha shrubbery over to the church house and beat up my arms while doin’ so. My fault for not wearin’ longsleeves, which I know to do when tacklin’ a task like that. My right arm is especially bruised up cause shrubbery is rough. On the plus side I think all the shrubs look quite good if’n I do say so myself.

MOOOOOOM have you brought FCD to Jesus yet? He and daughter deserve that for makin’ the plan without you and should be the ones to walk the plan back.

Oopsie congrats on the cert! Of course you did well. We knew you would do well.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Good morning!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP and lunch / breakfast prep. Other than that, the day’s plans just have me cooking supper (Brazilian fish stew) and going to bed with the chickens to get up for irk tomorrow. Such a life.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 18c/64f today, weather app says “Oh Mr Sun. Please show the fuck up, you twit!” - which means it’s cloudy. We have windows open for some fresh air as the house does get very warm so it’s nice to get a bit of a breeze coming through.

Oopsie conga-rats on the exam result!

Moooom how did the conversation with FCD go? Sorry to hear about your MIL too, she isn’t helping FIL at all by cutting his dosage, someone needs to remind her that docs get to be docs for a good reason, and they know what they’re doing.

Swampy you had a duel with a shrubbery? Did you say “Ni!” a lot? And have you cut down the mightiest tree in the forest…with a herring? Sorry, can’t see the word “shrubbery” without having a Monty Python moment!

shoe glad to hear you’re still alive, please stay that way!

I have very few plans for today. First plan is to finish this cup of tea and then make another one, I need some lunch, I have some buffday pressies to wrap for 'im indoors, and I have to put something together for lunch tomorrow as I’m on campus. And it’s my turn to make dinner tonight so that will be chilli, which means there will be leftovers for Tuesday. Then I shall spend the rest of the day impersonating a sloth.

Yes, well, she obviously knows better… You can’t reason with her when she makes up her mind. Neither of us try any longer.

So much for Daughter getting here early. But I did remember to throw a load of unders in the washer, and I pushed the vacuum cleaner around the carpet, so there’s that.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall do the usual cleaning. And from yesterday, and the “odd things I’ve seen shipped” file, there was an envelope of LIVE BEES . Also, I had to rebox a case of purple dildos.(I won’t kink shame anybody for their Barney fetish. )

Hangovers are temporary. Epic family rants uploaded to TikTok are forever.

He knows they are Invisible Mole People in neighbor suits.

But yay!

Would a preemptive Mayday to the Coast Guard be out of line?

:tada: :birthday:

I have zero plans today. Ahhhhh. I intend to stay indoors: it’s going to be warm and humid all day, with a chance of storms in the late afternoon/evening. Yesterday it got muggy enough that I turned the AC on: doing so annoyed me a little, because it’s only mid-May and the high was only 71, but I have zero tolerance for humidity. Based on the forecast, the AC is going to stay on for a while.

Yesterday I lazily watched several episodes of a Fresh Prince of Bel Air marathon on MTV2, and after a few hours I succumbed to the repeated ads for Nuts.com. I ordered a few pounds of almonds – dry roasted, covered in sugar-free milk chocolate, and covered in sugar-free dark chocolate – as well as some dried pineapple chunks, unsweetened banana chips, and sugar-free fudge. I still never feel hungry (production of the hormone that causes hunger got interrupted by the gastric bypass), so I rarely snack, but when I do it’s usually almonds. I figured “what the heck” about everything else; it should all keep for a decent amount of time. While I don’t need any of it I really don’t need the sugar-free fudge – I’ve been deliberately avoiding “replacement” sweets/treats – but I was weak last night.

I bet that created quite a buzz!

…but seriously, what were those people thinking?!?

Apparently it is normal to send queens through the mail and/or UPS, to keep hives going. It’s routine enough that UPS carries a LIVE BEES sticker for the envelopes.

Very similar to my plans, except I’m using coffee. I did get a new water boiler, so I can drink tea again.

I’m thinking I should use this instead of a “Fragile” label in the future… I’ll bet that package was handled very carefully.

He’s not wrong…

What about snakes? Scorpions?

Last night was the first night that we had to run the A/C. Most nights it cools off here. We’re close to the Bay/Delta, so we get the winds or sometimes the fog. Last night it was humid and hot all night. I object, strenuously.

Today shall be TV and sloth. I might even make popcorn. Perhaps I shall take a nap! It’s a crazy day, here at the Sunny residence.

Snakes (and other reptiles) are constantly sent via overnight shipping.

… just, ah, something to keep in mind the next time you see a UPS van.

I’d also like to point out that Ruble used to get his black powder (not smokeless powder) via UPS, 25 lbs. at a time, in a box clearly labeled "explosives, " “handle with care,” etc. all over it. Made for some mighty nervous delivery drivers, to our great amusement. (It only goes boom when exposed to a spark or flame - not on impact.).

Happy Sunday!

It’s lightly breezy 80 degrees outside today. The sun is shining. This morning was cloudy, 61 degrees.
It’s hard to know what to wear. I was a bit too warm in a sweat shirt, but my friend in a t-shirt was chilly.

The dogs were a bit lazy again today. Even though they don’t play much, they still enjoy hanging out together.

I didn’t sleep well last night. I had a strange dream.
There was a monster in my bed, a cross between an octopus and a squid, and it had me in its tentacles. I was screaming, in real life as well as in the dream. My son ran upstairs to see what was wrong, and couldn’t understand why I kept saying there was a monster in my bed.
I think this is the first time I have ever screamed for real while screaming in a dream.
So strange.

I didn’t get much done yesterday, and today isn’t looking too good either.

We’ve got tickets for the new Downton Abbey: A New Era movie next Friday. Movie and Japanese food next week!

I asked SWMBO if we could to see Smokey And The Bandit on the big screen at the end of the month. She said I could go see it. Alone. :frowning:

Wifey had scrambled eggs with cheese on top, and bacon for breakfast. I wrapped mine in a couple of low-carb tortillas with a nice dousing of Tapatio.

I read that as ‘walk the plank’, which is a viable option, I suppose.

They’re thinking ‘Ooh, I want some bees.’ Makes perfect sense to me. One can buy both queens and small colonies (known as ‘nucleus colonies’, or ‘nucs’) through the post here as well, though I prefer to catch my own freebees. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to start up again…

The end of the course seems to be approachething rather fast at the moment; I have too many things to do before then, so obviously I’m not doing them, in favour of messing about on the internet and relying on last-minute panic. It is the way of the student.

That’s how I did most of my coursework, and still got good grades, so for some of us it’s an effective approach.

(crossing UPS delivery driver off possible job options)

sunny, you can buy live baby chicks and have them shipped to you. Back when I was doing the dippy hippy thing, we did that a couple of times.

The fish stew is marvelous, but now I’m winding down to psych myself up to go back to irk tomorrow. Retirement is looking damn good about now.
