This really sucks. Some folks had issues with Q.E.D. but he never bothered me to the point of disliking him. He was definitely a major character on this board and he will be missed.

There are some people who–whether right or wrong, popular or unpopular, following rules or breaking them–are a major part of the “personality” of the SDMB. Q.E.D. was most certainly one of those people. He helped to define what these boards are.

I have no words. When I was a lurker and a newbie to this forum I found his GQ posts to be top-notch and one of the reasons I stuck around long wnough to appreciate this place.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. I remember when he joined! He was memorable, from the very start. Offering prayers for him and his family; may he be granted eternal rest.
I am shocked by this. So young, so bright and with so much to contribute. A terrible loss to his family and this community.

I once PMed QED to ask how he knew so much. I work with high schoolers, so I get to feel like the most knowledgeable person on earth most days, but QED could make me feel like I’d barely learned anything. I remember that I didn’t entirely understand even his job description he told me.

I’m just floored by this news. I feel sick. He was far too young to leave this world. I haven’t posted since the troubles this summer, but I had to comment on this loss. He was a great asset to these boards and they will be a lesser place because of his passing. Wherever you are, Michael, I hope you have found peace. My condolences to his family and friends.
