So sorry to hear that you were sick last night, FCM; hope that you are feeling some better by now. Ginger ale is definitely a good tummy comforter.
Yay on the bill being taken care of, CutiePie!
Back to work tomorrow, then off on Tuesday. I hope hope hope that it won’t be too crowded when I go to vote on Tuesday morning, but have a feeling that I’m still going to have to wait in line. However, it will indeed be worth it.
MOOOOOOM chicken soup and ginger ale. Yo mama taught you well!
Hope you’re feelin’ better.
Howdy Y’all! I’ve been productive. YAY!!! I did laundry and spiffed the cave up. Now I can haz beerverage and relaxate.
Ima go veg in front of the teevee.
Nighty Nite Y’all!
Less than half an hour to Treehouse of Terror* - this year they’re ripping on “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, among other things
Mostly, I watch to see how they manage to work the aliens in each year
It’s been a semi-productive day. After puttering around for the first half of the day in my jammies, I decided to put some clothes on and get some stuff done. Sheets have been washed, grandmother has been visited, groceries have been purchased, and there was even time to pick up a few Trinidadian doubles on the way home for nibbling. All in all, a nice wrap up for my vacation.
Din din tonight is a quince and chicken stew with saffron and sumach. I’m uber-happy quince season is here… I predict there is a quince tarte tatin in the near future, mostly because this gives me an excuse to buy a new cast-iron skillet that I’ve been drooling over.
I’ll probably put the sheets in the dryer closer to bedtime so that we can crawl into a nice warm clean bed. Mmmmm.
Spaz, as always, your snark is impeccable.
Man, I wish I wasn’t so good at wasting time. I hardly got anything done this weekend - I’ve emptied & loaded the dishwasher, washed dishes, ripped a few CDs to my computer, and made lunch for next week. (Apple Butter Chicken - my mom used to make Marmalade Chicken, but since I have homemade apple butter…). At least I can use my kitchen counters and sinks again since they’re no longer filled with dishes.
Hi Nikki. Glad you stopped by again. Still like your name. There are no rules here (well, except that we’re nice, dammit).
Sorry you were so sick, FCM. Hope everything’s settled down now.
Yay on the info from the hospital, Pie!
Shopsin’s sounds like lots of fun, Muppet.
Got home from work at 7 or so. Got lots done. Edited most of the document we need to have done tomorrow. Pitched a bunch of stuff. Emptied out several file drawers. Will refill a couple of them again tomorrow.
Now I’m relaxing and trying to have a bit of a break between work and more work.
Looking forward to hearing about Puggy’s travel tales tomorrow…

I’m just sitting here waiting for Soapy to bring me some chocolate.
I sent it, I sent it!
Well, kinda.

I have a question for California dopers. Proposal 1 on Tuesday’s ballot here in Michigan is about legalizing medical marijuana. The anti-prop 1 ads show a mom & young child walking past a storefront establishment that has “Cannabis Club” in large letters in the windows. Raucus music & crowd noise comes out of the “club” & “patrons” stumble in & out the doors. A voice over informs us that this sort of establishment is found on every corner in every California town, & will take over Michigan if we vote for the Preposal. My first reaction was, “bullsh*t”.
California dopers (& anyone else living where medical marijuana is legal), are there any “clubs” of this sort? Or is “legal” grass only in drugstores, available by Rx? How has your life changed since medical grass was legalized in your state? I’m not looking for deep sociological ramifications (or maybe I am), but I’m just curious how different things might become.
Thanks for an honest answer to a (probably) stupid question.
Love, Phil
btw, I’m inclined to vote for it.
:sitting here innocently with a sweet smile on my face and the halo shining above my head:
You could not possibly be talking to me. I get more innocent by the day.
Now that is not possible. Even with the ‘almost’ quantifier.
Where are Haze’s Halloween pictures? I think they were promised somewhere but I haven’t seen them delivered yet.
Until the pictures get here, I’m sitting waaaay over here, quarantining myself from all the sick people. :shouting: Get well, sick people.
Well, since I’m in CA, I guess I could answer your question but then it would require me to show my ignorance once again and that’s getting kinda tiring. But here I go again.
I had no idea medical marijuana was legal in CA. So to answer your question, it hasn’t changed my life one bit. And I live in a CA town, and no, it definitely isn’t on every corner. But since I don’t go looking for those kinds of things, I probably wouldn’t be finding them.
I did read an article though, in a law journal, about some physically sick people who have clinics where they sell medical marijuana. I thought I read that it was in Santa Cruz, but that part is hazy.
