So I, of the extremely obiquely understandable screen name, have known that handy was deaf. Yet, for over a year, the actual significance of his name had not hit me.

My dad and I had a small issue with our boat this summer. Father’s day, and this young family was nice enough to (literally) bail us out. He had two young kids, one was deaf.
As his boat pulled away, I noticed the name of the boat… “sign on”.
“I wonder if the guy is into computers or something… look at the name of the boat”
I had four or five people point out to me simultaneously that it was because his kid was deaf.

Only tangentially related, but yesterday as I was driving around town, I stopped at an intersection directly across from a small convenience store called… HANDY STOP. Not “The Handy Stop,” but “Handy Stop.” If we were still allowed to post pictures on the boards, I’d have taken a photo and posted it whenever handy gets out of hand. So to speak.
