Good morning. Winter has arrived! Temperature now (at 9am) is only 64°F/18°C. I may actually have to dust off the radiator today. Ceiling fans and ACs have fallen silent for a few months and we all now need to adjust to the night-time noises that are usually muffled by the dull roar of the ACs.

Blu–cough–rf. Cold still going strong, coughing has increased. Sucky. I’m going to reschedule the dentist appointment for next week sometime; the last thing I want is to have my mouth wide open with a dentist poking around in there when I suddenly launch into a coughing fit. That probably wouldn’t end well.
In other news, the GTA got its first sprinkling of snow. There were bits of white crap on the ground this morning, with more fluttering down from above. It didn’t stick around long, but it was there, mocking me. But I have my revenge now that the sun is out and it has all melted away. I suppose I should be thankful we had a mild November, but it’s (literally) cold comfort when the ravages of winter still lie ahead. Bleh.
I’m glad they caught that nutjob cop killer. Dead was probably the only way they were going to get him. Even if they caught him alive he’d be found incompetent to stand trial, so he’d just get stuffed into a looney bin somewhere, which would feel like justice to no one. I hope they nail the idiots who harbored him and misled cops though.
Well, off to slog through another day of work. I sound like such a downer this morning. Maybe the caffeination will improve my mood.

I get to take LibbyCat to the vets today for her shots - mr ems conveniently ‘forgot’ to make the appointment until I got home. Other than that I am going to pick up a couple of things at the mall for Christmas presents and then I am done shopping!
<hangs head in shame> Actually I was being serious. But there was a reason for it; showing up in boxers and a tank. Where I work I am two levels underground somewhere behind the furnace. This isn’t some sort of punishment - I like it this way. Not being around everyone else means I can get more work done faster and of better quality. I so rarely deal with customers except by choice that the last time I had to work the counter everyone was worried about Y2K.
Well, someone in the owning/managing family got a bug in his craw that everyone needed to wear more formal clothes even when we were closed to the public. Shirts had to have buttons and jeans (even Dockers) were out. The exception was Casual Friday when all rules were out the door. It was several weeks before anyone noticed I wasn’t playing along (that’s how isolated from everything I am) but when they did someone made a fuss. My boss didn’t care – but he’s just one of several shareholders. So I went along with it and made my statement on Casual Friday.
The good thing is that my boss, the partners and I now have an understanding that my physical location makes for an exception. The bad thing? I had to do it twice before anyone noticed. I would have probably tried for nekkid except I had that fear from the beginning. Imagine the ego-bust to be there in the all-together and not be noticed?
kopek, that sounds like my previous place of employment. Absolutely no customer was going to see or interact with me, so why couldn’t I have purple hair? It was such a silly thing but so frustrating that I kept the locks of purple hair hidden on my head (under a couple layers) as a silent protest. One of the first things that I did when I became self-employed was to dye a significantly noticable part of my hair purple
Yeah, so they caught the scumbag. They are of the opinion that his first wound, which he received on the day he killed those officers, would have killed him in the next day or so. However, I don’t know how I feel about him being shot dead. I kind of feel like the chance for justice has passed, on the other hand, maybe this was justice. Really, only the families and friends of those officers could tell you.
I wanted him to suffer, to really, really, really suffer.
They have three people in custody now, and will have a total of about eight in custody for aiding and abetting. His get away driver has been charged with first degree murder.
I watched the procession from the ME’s office to the funeral home. It was sad.

I just had a major code breakthrough at work. I’m really excited because it’s going to make an extremely painful, tedious process go lickety split. But I’m also a little :smack: for all the hours I spent doing this the painful, tedious way when this super cool fast way existed. Oops. At least going forward it’ll be way better.
Very much looking forward to quit o’clock. If I could crawl under my desk and take a nap without anyone noticing, I would.

Taters - If it’s any consolation, slowly bleeding out while he was on the lam probably wasn’t much of a picnic. If nothing else he couldn’t have enjoyed what little freedom he managed to scrounge before he was killed. And his wheelman is being charged with murder, plus all of the scumbags that harbored him, so there’s still some visible justice being served to all of those who had some hand in it. It may not be perfect justice, but it’s far better than nothing.
