Happy Monday!
**And Happy Anniversary to de la esposa de autobús! **
Our weather always goes like this:
Boo, I’m seconding Nava’s recommendation of The Cloisters. And enjoy Noo Yawk in general.
**GT **and ChiCopers meeting her – I’m jealous!
**Spaz **-- a sampler plus a pint and a half doesn’t sound like “cheap drunk.” Sounds more like headache city… I know I’d probably not be angry at that stage – I’d be out like a light!
Of course, t’wasn’t always so… I could handle 2 liters of beer. Once upon a time…
**Doggio **-- Of course Labor Day is in September. It’s a result of all too many couples getting drunk (and knocked up) during the Christmas / New Years’ timeframe…
I’m reasonably sure that was Herbs.
True, dat. It’s been a long day… :o
I still recommend The Cloisters, though…
So much for slothiness. See, I went out to check the mail. I got halfway down the driveway and remembered, oh yeah, Federal holiday. However, I got a good look at the grass in the front yahd. It was a shame for the neighbors! So, I mowed. However, I did not shave so there’s that bit of sloth still hangin’ on.
Taters is it an electric or a wood smoker? You can tell by whether or not you need to plug it in to an outlet. They’re both good. Find some good wood chips. Hickory, mesquite, pecan, apple or any good type of wood like that there in the PNW. Make sure you soak the chips at least an hour. Most people say thirty minutes but I say an hour. If it’s a big smoker, the good thing is you can smoke more than one thing and have smokey meat goodness more than once. I like to smoke a couple of boston butts and/or beef roasts at the same time. Maybe throw some chicken boobs or laigs on too. I got me a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig smoker so I can do that. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it!
It’s sunny out now. Maybe I’ll go have me some pool time.
I knocked out about three hours worth of work. Because I’ve got to VPN to my work’s network, everything was taking waaaaaaay longer than it would if I were physically in my office.
Mr. Taters is not thrilled about my doing work on my day off. I may try to get a little more done later today. I’ll have to see how things go. He wants me to run to the fish store with him and I need to pick up dog food for the dog. I poured the last of it in his bowl this morning.
Happy anniversary to Mr. Bus Guy and Mrs. Bus Guy!
Hmm, other than the above, I’ve got nothing.
On edit: Swampy, it’s a wood smoker. I didn’t think he was letting the chips soak long enough, but he’s cooking, so I’m not complaining. It’s a Char-Broil CB 600SX vertical smoker.
Hey kids. It’s my second MMP in a row! Woot!
Today has been a slothy, gray, rainy, dreary day (my personal 5-word forcast).
Had a leisurely breakfast at Cracker Barrel and put a pot roast in the oven for a later supper. The house already smells good. Mmmmmm.
I really need to work. Last week sucked in the Accomplishment Department so I’m behind. Alas, I can’t seem to get my lazy butt off of the couch and away from the Dope. Oh well, I’ll just have to take one for the team, I guess. It’s rough work but somebody’s gotta do it, eh?
Rubes we all gotta make sacrifices.
Taters it’s a propane smoker? I am impressed!
Le pool was nice. There’s a breeze blowin’ so it made it a tad cool but still nice to float around.
Happy Anniversary MrandMrsBusGuy!
Argh. I just had a long post written and something ate it.
I give up.
Happy Bus-i-versary!
4th load of laundry is in the washer. A yummy smelling soup is bubbling on the stove. I’m downloading an update for my brand new printer/scanner/copier. No more crappy Dell - I gots me a Kodak that uses much less $$$ ink cartridges. Once the download is done, I’ll try to print something. Yay!
And thus endeth my long weekend. Is it Firday yet??
HAPPY HAPPIES to the BUS-COUPLE!!
Damn. I just got blindsided by direct orders to shampoo carpets. There goes my sloth for the day.
Happy Labor Day to all and Happy Anniversary to the Buses.
boofae, anybody mention seeing Ground Zero when you are in NYC? The Village is interesting for a stroll if the weather is good. Rockefeller Center. Central Park. And the usual tourist sites, Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty.
I also have been very slothful today. I did do some laundry but for the most part it’s been a binge of Toddlers in Tiaras and Anthony Bourdain.
Back to work tomorrow.
Tupug
Happy Monday everybody.
I’ve got a bizzare simultaneous case of productive and not productive going… in that, while I’m convinced that I’ve been rather productive today, the to-do list doesn’t seem to be getting any shorter. Hrumph.
We did manage to get outside to meet up with Miami Friend for breakfast at the neighbourhood greasy spoon. He’s back in town… back in August, he got laid off from his job in Flawridah, and was told he’d have to haul his ass back to Canadia within a couple of weeks since his visa was dependent on the job.
I’m selfishly happy, because I missed him to bits while he was away (we’re both terrible at doing the spontaneous hey-how-you-doin’ phone call or email that’s critical for long-distance friendships).
Dindin was leftover burgers from yesterday which I thoughtfully heated up and fries. The fries were fresh, meanin’ I sliced up **N.O.T.**and fried 'em up myself. Tomorrow we shall have chicken ‘n dumplin’s. I boiled a chicken and it’s coolin’ down to be deboned. I may get productive and actually make it tonight and reheat tomorrow. I have some fresh broccoli and carrots so I do believe we shall have steamed veggies also. Gotta have veggies, right?
I’m also sleepy.
Where is everybody? I can’t believe no posts since my last one.
I just finished makin’ my cheat version of chicken 'n dumplin’s. I deboned the chicken, returned it to the stock, added a can of cream of chicken soup and let that come to a boil. Meanwhile, I sliced a package of flour tortillas into strips and when the chicken stuff started to boil, dropped ‘em in a few at a time and it thickened right up. Now it’s coolin’ so’s I can put it in a container to zap in the nukelator tomorrow.
Ol’ y’all know who worked for a while today, poor thing. Paperwork catchin’ up and such. Thus bein’ on my own, I didn’t do real well with sloth. Like, after I mowed my yahd, I decided to go mow his. I threw my edger and blower in truck and went over. I edged his walkway and the curb in front of his house, then used his mower (he owns one cause I made him buy it) to mow. Then I cleaned off the walkway and driveway with blower. His yahd is small so I can do all that in thirty minutes. Anyways, when he came by my house right from work, he made the comment that sloth does not involve mowin’ my yahd. Ok, true dat but I did point out I didn’t shave so I did indeed have some sloth points and he allowed for that. Then, he went to his place to do some laundry since last night was a spend the night night at da cave and thus no laundry got done. He called and asked me if the mowin’ fairy was on the loose. All innocent like I asked why he asked. He took away my not shavin’ sloth points, so now I have no sloth points for the day.
You may have some of my sloth points - I think I’ve accumulated plenty this weekend - and it ain’t over yet
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - I make good soup! I filled a container for lunch tomorrow, and the rest will go into the fridge when it cools down a bit more.
Last load is out of the dryer - I need to fold. It’s just unders and socks, so no rush since we don’t fret over wrinkly unders.
And I’ve got my new printer/scanner/copier installed - it makes purty pictures and nice clean documents. Yay! The crappy old dell with the ridiculously expensive cartridges is going to work as a give-away. The scanner part works great, but it’s not worth it as a printer.
Well, off to fold, then to knit.
MWAH!
I’m peeved at comics.com also, Swampie. I want my comics!
Maybe I’ll actually pick up the newspaper and read them instead. (I get the paper, I just don’t read the dead tree version often, Mom usually does though).
Feel like crap today. Was planning to go to a movie… not happening. So I’m going to go make lasagna instead right away here and chill, maybe pull out an old favourite movie later and to bed early so I feel better for work tomorrow.
Got a newspaper clipping in my mailbox on how to take care of my lawn. Is that a hint? I just mowed the darn thing, I mowed a couple weeks back too and it wasn’t real scruffy by this week. I have some weeds, but not many and I pull them regularly. WTF? Bylaw wouldn’t come out for my yard, it’s not bad, so wtf?
It’s hardly the worst lawn in the neighbourhood anyway.
Comics.com is back - at least it is on my intrawebz!
