Guess who no longer has a place to live? That would be me. Fun little surprise after coming home from a long day last night.
Not very happy with certain people right now. I’m in hiding for the next two days and then I’m going to have a talk with management on Friday. They might be able to help me out a little with this.
Daughter told me something today that really hit me. One of her students came to her and said she wouldn’t be able to get her lab notebook just now because they couldn’t afford it. We’re talking maybe $1 for your standard composition book. Daughter had bought half a dozen extras, and she told the girl to take one.
Same girl came to school hungry - no breakfast. Daughter had some animal crackers, but that’s no breakfast. I’m hoping she’s eligible for the free breakfasts. If not, I’ll send in breakfast money for her. I may send in some breakfast bars, too, just in case.
If you can swing it, send a couple of bucks to a local school - you’ll help someone more than you know.
{{{Spaz}}}. I hope you can find someplace reasonable and find it quickly.
FCM, I hear you on the sad story. It’s more common than people realize.
I guess I should get dinner going. We need to eat up the smoked tenderloin our daughter’s boyfriend made the other day. I think I’m gonna cook up some taters and onions and serve it wit the roast.
How do you not have a place to live? Where is your stuff? Are you OK, Spaz?
I am home after a looooonnnnng, but good day. IT, Marcus-a god amongst mortals, was able to fix my HUGE IT problem. Now I have another problem: getting caught up while everyone and his brother (and some out of town cousins) came by to either use the library or get my help. Seriously, I must have fielded about 50 article requests today. I didn’t eve get to the mail. I’d like nothing better than to go in tomorrow and tackle it all, but nooooo… I have a stupid class that is required at my other job. Grrrrr.
This working 2 places is getting difficult. But we need the money. And I am blessed to be working. Bennys kick in Nov 1. yes!
Off to bed soon. Moonie–the more you can flush your mouth (aka drink water), the better off you’ll be. The gauze should be coming out soon, no?
Glad to hear that Gotti and DH are both feeling some better. H1N1 is not to be toyed with apparently. Glad to hear that Moonie is recouperating from the wisdom tooth pulls - yikers!
Yeah, it sounds like GT is having a blast in Chicago! There will be pics, no?
I just know I’m forgetting stuff! Rigs, isn’t it good, though, to have the library job that you really want to do now? I hope so! Rebo, great news about your Dad (belated, I know, sorry!).
Vp of course, did not show. At least he didn’t drive past my store on the way to another one like last time. Moran. On happier news, the Hurricanes Booster Club will be sponsoring a Red Cross Blood drive at the Caniac Carnival on the 20th. If you come and give blood, you can hang out with moi.
Spaz, what happened? Are you OK?
gt, are there pics?
Nava, it’s like Meatspace WoSW!
Yay for BBBobbio being able to play with his knob again!
Sorry about all that. Moonie. All I remember is Happy, sleepy, drooly time. Actually, that could be said about a lot of my Saturday nights.
Aaaah! Some peace and quiet at last. My daughter asked if my husband would go out with her after dinner so she could practice driving. My son is going along for the drive.
I ended up making kind of a hash out of some of the leftover smoked pork tenderloin. I sliced up some baby red taters, and roughed chopped some sweet onions. I sauted and cooked the potatoes in a little veggie oil with some sea salt, fresh cracked pepper and garlic powder. After the taters had cooked for a bit, I added the onions and continued sauteeing the onion and potatoe mixture until the onions were a little carmelized and the potatoes were just about done. Then I threw in some of the meat which I’d cut up into cubes. I stirred all that until the meat was heated through, and then I scrambled up some eggs with salt and pepper. I poured the eggs over the potato/onion mixture and threw just a bit of some cheddar cheese on top of that. I let it sit there and bubble a bit and gentlly turned the mixture. When it was just about cooked through, I took a couple slices of Havarti cheese and tore them up into pieces and threw them on top of the egg/potato/onion mixture. I then gently turned the mixture a few times and served it up.
It was pronounced tasty by the family, but it seemed to be missing something, in my opinion. I’ll need to tweek that recipe a bit. I just kind of threw stuff in there.
Spaz, I hope you’re okay. Moonie, hope the mouth is feeling a little better.
Ugh. I had a Benedryl hangover today. I was itchy with a runny nose last night around 2am so I took 2 Benedryl. OMG. I woke up about 9, went out on the couch and slept like a log until 1pm. WTF?
Then about 1:30 my g/f comes over after having a meltdown with her roommate. I finally got ini my office about 6pm.
I saved up all my WW naughty points for a leaving ‘do’ last night. At 1AM, lying on my bed with a spinning room I remember why I don’t drink that much anymore
This moring I remembered why I don’t usually drink alcohol on a school night either…urgh.
I went out for beerverages last night (Holden’s “Frail Rib”, to be precise) so it was a late night for me. I’d already got a really sore back after pulling something at the weekend, probably from hacking the brambles in the garden, exacerbated by moving furniture at work yesterday. So last night I was really uncomfortable even just sitting in the pub.
By the time I got home, uncomfortable had become painful so I popped a couple of pain pills and went to bed. Then I got woken up at 1am by someone visiting the house next door - the twunt left the stereo blaring in his car while he went to visit the folks at number six, left it for 10mins at full volume before going out there and turning it off, and apparently stayed the night with the neighbours. 'im indoors was less than happy, especially since he could hear the music with his headphones on, and I got disturbed by it (I wear earplugs at night) too.
So not a good night’s sleep at all. Tonight I am planning to do grocery shopping, have a takeaway, a soaky bath and an early night to make up for it.
Tomorrow is Firday, and for me it’s also Golden Bag Night. Yes, I am off for a Thai meal with a friend and one of the things on the menu (it’s a set meal thing) is Golden Bags. She and I have been coming up with all sorts of innuendo all week about this, but the evening is still being referred to as Golden Bag Night.
Yes, sometimes we is childish.
Hope the sickies are soon feeling better and the rest of us with the blurfs get a better day. And please be quiet, mmmmmmmmmmms has a bad head.
Spaz, you’re welcome to crash at the VunderLair, but there’e that little matter of you putting most of the state between us. I believe I speak for all MMPers in saying we want the lurid details when you’re ready to divulge them.
Some days, it’s just not worth the hassle of chewing through the restraints.
I have a small favor to ask of all you mumpers
There is a contest going on to decide which charity will get a huge donation from the Christie Cookie Company. Members of Sweet Adelines are encouraging their friends to vote for the Young Singers Foundation, which as of 8/31 is the front runner. We’d like to keep it that way. Please vote. Thank you.
Surprise! I DON’T have class today. I [del]slept through my alarm[/del] was held hostage by fierce people insisting that snapping turtles were excellent Lego separators and a blizzard*, so I called my manager (this is RN stuff) to say sorry and that I’d be late. She said they’d had a problem with tardiness and now the instructors lock the doors right at 0700. So, no class for me! (I do have to make it up at a later date). On the good side, I now get to go into and do library work tomorrow and I have today OFF.
I have already scrubbed a small Oriental rug that reeked of Simon’s piss (no idea why–he always peed in the litter box. I think he liked to lay on this rug and over time, it acquired eau de chat) and am planning dinner.
*weird dream involving a fair stall person making life size replicas of your head and face using Legos, me driving in a blizzard off road (and worried that Osage orange tree spines would flatten my tires) to Target to audition for a film role(!)
