A journey thru the MMP

Mom, are they (baskets) labeled inffluent and effluent?

Did I tell you I glued my fitbit back together? I figured I’ve been wearing it for over a year without any ill effects, so it’s probably safe. I think it’s the ones that synchronize constantly that cause problems. Mine only synchs when I open the app on my phone. Still, iffen I was fitbit I’d find a better way around the problem than just putting a warning where most people won’t read it.
Anyway, super glue didn’t work, but gorilla glue did.

No, but after a few pints of Guinness she might go Braghless.

Happy Firday!

Happy St Paddy’s Day!

Although I don’t celebrate. Then again, I don’t celebrate much of anything anyway. I used to date a guy who was half Irish and we’d go out and party. However, he just liked to party, so any excuse to get drunk was good by him.
We used to go to the Cat’s Eye Pub down in Fell’s Point, back in my pub crawling days.

I dated another guy whose mother was from Ireland and I got a really nice triffle recipe from her.

I like corned beef and cabbage, but I’m not making it just for me.

I have no idea what it was like outside today since I slept most of the day.

{{{Ruble}}} Some mothers are difficult. There are times when I really want to just walk away from mine, but it’s not that easy for me.

{{{Cupcakes and Nathan}}}

Sorry for the transportation woes Doggio.

I don’t know if I should be happy for your daughter or not FCM. If I was there in person, I’d tell her best wishes, and then you and I could sit and have a cup of tea together while you let it all out.

**sari **- if you used to go to the Cat’s Eye any time in the last 30-ish years, you may have been served by my sister. In fact, she just got off a few minutes ago - she worked 2-7 on what she calls Amateur Night. You may have seen her pic in my FB feed - the tattooed lady!

As for my daughter, I’m just reminding myself that she’s 31 and I have no say in how she lives her life. She knows we’re not all that impressed with this guy, but it’s not about us. So we’ll make nice and see where it goes. She could do soooooooo much better, tho. <sigh>

Just back from Cracker Barrel - I’m loving their Friday Fish Fry special - yum! And we ran by Lowe’s so **FCD **could get a big-ass drill bit that he needs for tomorrow. Chillage shall ensue for the rest of the evening.

Sorry about the truck doggio.

butters, there are quite a few vegetarians in my social group and a handful of vegans. At last year’s minicon, I witnessed one of our vegans nuking something that looked and smelled horrible. I asked him how it tasted and he told me not really good, but it was only his only option when away from home. :frowning: I have a decent repetoire of vegan dishes that hit the protein, vegetation and carb requirements without resorting to unnatural ingredients, so I volunteered. I’d hate to see Tyler waste away to nothing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad you liked the pot pie, bumba. You can play with the thickening next time. This works with beef orturkey (good after Thanksgiving) too.

Happy St. Pat’s!

Saint Patrick is the family patron of my mom’s people. She and all of her sibs, as well as my sibs and a whole mess of cousins have Patrick or Patricia as part of our names.

After grocery shopping this afternoon, I stopped at the Thai bar around the corner and had a green beer. I had my cabbage in the form of aigrolls.

We are having KFC for dinner. I guess it’s not very Irish, but we’ll survive.

On the good side, the extended clan on Dad’s side are fantastic and more than make up for it. I just really feel bad for my brother; this may be the first time in his 70 years he has told our mother no and made it stick or really stood up to her in any way. As tough as its been for me these past couple weeks, his has had to be exponentially worse.
I put this in another thread but wanted to share it here as well.
On a semi-related note; when I got to work today a coworker I’m close with who is/was a British native was in the parking lot so I pulled up beside and offered to kick the crap out of him. He looked puzzled and asked why I wanted to do that so I said so I could celebrate the Irish way by decking some Tommy for no good reason.

Howdy Y’all! Back in da cave after preppin’ foodstuffs for tomorrow’s shindig. The beasts are corned, wrapped and in da fridge along with the broth in which veggies will be cooked tomorrow. The corned beasts will be slice cold and then warm broth will be poured over ‘em. Then they will sit in the warmin’ oven and be perfect come feast time. Tomorrow is prep more veggies, cook veggies, grill chikin, make bread puddin’ (well, somebody will, not moi), and set up. It’ll be a long day but fun.

doggio sorry about the truck woes. Meant to say that earlier.

Da bear is tahrd and will shortly be abed.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Fish are friends, not* food*!
Except for shrimp.
And lobsters.
And crabs.

I am dense but I don’t get the Erin Go Bragh thing. 'Splain please.

Wikipedia: Erin go Bragh /ˌɛrɪn ɡə ˈbrɑː/, sometimes Erin go Braugh, is the anglicisation of an Irish language phrase, Éirinn go Brách, and is used to express allegiance to Ireland. It is most often translated as “Ireland Forever.”[1]

I’m not sure what the deal is. Swampy is a very nice guy, Episcopalian, AKA Church of England, but the English really, really messed with the Irish. We are talking slavery and other nasty stuff.

Ok caught up.

Tahred. And chilly, then hot, then cold. F’ing hot flashes. Reminds me of Michael Jackson when he reportedly said one side of him was cold and the other hot.

I did not get corned beef and cabbage yet. Maybe I’ll cook up some this weekend or not. I had lunch at 5 pm so not hungry. Job is driving me crazy.

Neighbors are having a loud drunken party but I only drink during the week it seems. My boss before I was promoted drank herself to death. Now I know why. I only mostly drink beer. Sometimes wine. Hmmm we have wine. I should just go to sleep but it’s Firday. I am a little down in the dumps.

Well, swampy’s church is named St. Patrick’s Episcopal.

You should see the beautiful altar rail, it’s plain, but made out of pecan wood and polished. The wood came from trees that had to be cleared when the building was built.

I remember he said in 2008 they had to have their saint’s day celebration early. Easter was so early that year, March 23, that March 17th fell on Monday of Holy Week. You can have a party during Lent, but not really during Holy Week.

Oh, and Episcopalians are Anglican but NOT Church of England.:stuck_out_tongue: We Americans had to start our own church when a lot of the clergy went to England after the Revolutionary War ended. It was the Scots who helped out by consecrating the bishops we needed. The English church wouldn’t do it because getting ordained by them required an oath of allegiance to the English monarch.

I hope you get to feeling better. Hold up a glass of wine, and I’ll hold up my bottle of beer. We can clink them together in spirit.

:Clink: cheers!

Hope Nathan is feeling better.

Clink from me too!

Clink from me too!

Sitting around with friends have some drinks. Life is good.

Worked, came home, having some Yuengling.

And this is bad how?

: clink :

I slept last night - huzzah!! I needed it. I didn’t need to get up at 6, but I was awake and I didn’t want to wake FCD. As a result, Higgs has been tended to, Ziva has had her morning treats, Taz got some morning skritches, and I can have some quiet computer time. Thus beginneth my day.

We’ll be routing wire from the garage to the new shed today, among other things. Somewhere along the line, I’ll be cooking up the corned beef and cabbage, and laundry will be washed. Probably other stuff, too, but for the moment, it’s quiet chillage.

Happy Saturday!
