A journey thru the MMP

Good morning MMPers! it’s 46°F with a predicted high of 50°F, which would be nice weather to get out and do some weeding in, if it were not for the rain. I have, apparently, turned into a delicate flower. :dubious:

There will be no vacations other than daytrips to the river, one of the beaches, or the mountains. There will be gardening and berry picking and preserves making, and if I am fortunate the grands will have some free time this summer to come stay with gramma.

In 2011 I planted, among other things, a forsythia. I have wanted one my entire life and am in my own house in a hospitable climate finally, and so I did it. Well it just sat there, green in the summer, bare in the winter, sparse blooms in the spring. Last spring it was covered in flowers, and it grew just over five feet! The mock orange bloomed last year for the first time also, and my Harry Lauders Walking Stick has made some advancement, although my understanding is that it tends to be a slow grower. I have 10 fruit trees in the garage waiting to be planted (the guys are off today) and three more coming. I need to put a few more shrubberies around the bird feeding station, they need the cover as, to my surprise, I have a couple of Cooper’s Hawks and falcons who have no qualms about landing on my deck railing!

Well, it’s 10:00 am here, time for me to holler at the young people to get up. I need to find some Easter outfits for my son’s goddaughters and then some more beading supplies for myself, and then I will bead my afternoon away. Happy Moanday everyone!

On hold with the student loan people because apparently the payment I made ten days ago hasn’t gone through yet. Just reached the 10 minute mark and they have yet to pick up the phone.

I got to irk this morning only to get a call from the school nurse. The sprog had thrown up and had a fever of 100.6. :frowning: I picked him up and he’s been asleep most of the afternoon. So I went out for storm supplies, gas, and cat food.

Then Airman called - he’s sick, too, and we carpooled to work today. :frowning: I’m now in sweats and a T-shirt, covered in a blanket, with a cat on my feet. If the weather hits as badly as it’s supposed to, I won’t have to change out of sweatpants until at least Thursday.

Now working on call #2, grand total of 40 minutes on hold.

Some back of the envelope calculations (because I’m bored at irk) had the first five weekends costing a combined total of about $400-450, including gas/tolls & meals.

Latest NWS forecast is a 2/3rds chance of more that a foot of snow in the next 24ish hours. ♫ I’m dreaming of a [del]Green[/del] White St. Party’s Day, just like the ones I used to know… ♪ ♫ Wait, what?

'Tis dreary, rainy and in general ick out. Still better than snow and ice however. Beast stew is done. Some will be dindin tonight and probably tomorrow night and the rest will be put in containers and frozen once cooled down enough. Da cave smells sooooooo good right now!

{{{wiki}}} ::tacklehug::

Rockin’ hope all the sickies are better soonest.

I finally got through to someone and after playing 20 questions before I could even ask my question I find out my bank kicked back the payment which sounds a bit like bs to me so I had to resubmit the payment.

You’re evil. I like you

Rockin’ on the negative side, you’re probably in for it too (although maybe Mom immunity will kick in). On the positive side, sweats until Thursday! Hope everyone feels better soon.

BigKitty student loan people are from hell.

Which leads me to this…

Nava, here’s my submission to your playlist :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course, when I got home, there was a truck and trailer in the driveway. But the shed was in place - nice and level. **FCD **picked up his compressor today, and it’s in the new shed now. We’re going out for supper, just because.

No precip yet, but overcast and cold and ick. Our area isn’t supposed to see any accumulation. So they say…

Beast stew and cornbread have been ingested. Tummies are full and happy. Still cold, damp, rainy, and ick out. Glad to be inside a warm cozy cave.

Congrats on the A, rockin’!

Hold sucketh much, big kitty.

I’m considering a whirlwind tour of Paris, Athens, Rome, Carthage, Dresden and maybe Birmingham this summer.*

Other than that, a couple of trips to see the parental unit, one to NYC and one to Houston.

  • Tennessee and possibly Ali-bammy. :stuck_out_tongue:

'Tis cold, damp, and rainy out. ICK! We shall retire to the boudoir to snuggle down under the covers and watch teevee until sleepy time. Sounds like an excellent plan to me!

Nitey Nite Y’all!

After work today I’d meant to go to the hospital business office to get some billing problems straightened out.

Instead I took my dog Nathan to the vet. I’d noticed he’d become, in the last couple day, uncomfortable with getting on the bed, or the couch or recliner. He didn’t want to get on his back feet for a treat.

I’m glad I didn’t wait, by the time I got him there he was obviously in pain, yelping when touched in certain ways. The vet asked a lot of questions and took two x-rays. As a dachshund Nathan could be prone to back trouble

Well he may have a little disc problems, but one thing the vet saw was that Nathan was very constipated. Of course if his back aches, bending it into an arc to poop would be painful. They gave him an enema and I’m told he starting pooping quite a bit. He’s staying overnight, and tomorrow morning I’ll call to get word on how he’s doing.

I love that dog more than I love myself and I’m hoping this treatment, with maybe some cage rest and painkillers, will be enough. I simply can’t afford taking him to the vet school at K-State to have surgery.

My pets all get good vet care, their shots, teeth cleaning and so on. If you have a pet I think you are obligated to give them that. But four figure surgery is beyond my means.

If you have a pet give them extra scritches and send a few good vibes to my Nathan. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing him, he’s not even seven yet.

I really hope to hear good news tomorrow.

Por Nada.

If you get anywhere near Huntsville, drop me a line and I’ll give you the nickle tour.

Baker, {{{Nathan}}}

Ate my Monday sub sammich at Jimmy John’s, so a full belly and lousy weather (41F and rainy) will make it a stay-at-home night. Tomorrow is Dentist day, and I need to pick up a prescription refill, so taking care of myself is the goal for 2sDay.

Instead of 30 squares, I now have 5 strips. Tomorrow, I’ll join them into an afghan, and all it’ll need is a few rows of edging. It’s very colorful!

And thus endeth my Moanday.

Skritches to Nathan, baker. It doesn’t seem like he should be seven already.

metal mouse, I will definitely give you a shout the next time I’m around Rocket Town. I go through there a couple of times a year and once in a while, it’s part of a day trip. Holler the next time you come through Nashville too. It’s really not that far. (We had a crew of about six a few years ago who commuted from Huntsville. They’ve since relocated to the Nashville area, but they carpooled in a van.)

If anyone’s wondered, yes, I’m still alive. The Dope is blacklisted at work so I can’t get here during the day, and usually, by the time I’m done with work, I don’t want to look at a computer any more.

Been busy and roughly a year of living clean, financially speaking, has paid off. Got approval to spend a bunch of bucks on a mortgage, found a house, made an offer, and it was accepted. I don’t know about other areas, but real estate around San Francisco has recovered from the mortgage mess of about 8 years ago, and I ended up paying 10% over listing price in a 14-way bid war. Someone actually bid more than me, but they had contingencies. I was sitting pretty with no contingencies, pre-approval from the bank, and a traditional 20% down 30-year mortgage.

It’s a bit funny how the lenders cheerfully ignore that I’ve been spending $X per month on rent and they will still only allow me to spend about $X-250 on mortgage, so I get an automatic “raise” of $250 a month.

Now it’s time to pack! Looking to move at the end of April.

Our youngest granddaughter is graduating college this summer, barring meteor strikes, and she wants all of us to come watch. Unfortunately her college is in Thousand Oaks California. We, on the other hand, live in Northwestern Orygun. 955 miles away.
Wifey wants us to drive down and then wander back, sightseeing along the way.
When I was younger I would have been all for it. Now, not so much. sigh
Anyway, that’ll be our travel for the year.

I hope Nathan will be okay, Baker. Had kinda the same thing with my previous dog when the kids gave him a bunch of pork bones to chew on. Please keep us posted.

Taco salad for dinner tonight, speaking of which…

For a Monday the 13th right after full moon, the callers were pleasant and rational enough, there were just so MANY of them! Absentees didn’t help. Bonus points for both supervisors being out most of the day (one came in for the last few hours of the workday), so grandboss was overseeing us. Nice enough fellow, but doesn’t know our project well enough to answer processing questions or take sup calls. Thankfully, the only sup call I know of today occurred after the one arrived.
