I was gonna do this earlier - honest I was - but real life can get in the way of my posting, dammit!
Back and mega-stuffded! I got the Mandel Schnitzel - I swear, it was enough for 2 and then some. Needless to say, I brought much home. All the sides were served family style - I tried about half of them, and all were yum! Their desserts were gorgeous, but no way could I even dream of trying any. Altho we did go for ice cream after… Best of all, they didn’t balk at separate checks - in fact, our waiter asked right off - and they didn’t tack on a service fee, even tho there were 15 of us. Dunno about the others, but we left a 20% tip, so the server did better than he would have with an 18% fee.
I shall spend the rest of the night digesting. ooooof!
Finally home. Not only did I have to deal with The Ferret* nattering on endlessly for eight endless hours, on my way home I ran into (not literally…unfortunately) a race along a road that is very twisty-turny and has many blind turns. Most of the runners were in the middle of the f’n lane. And then once I got out of that mess I got stuck behind some frickin’ halfback who thinks you have to hit the brakes every time the road bends a little. There are times I wish my alcohol tolerance were higher and this is one of them 'cause I’d be about half drunk now.
But now I can has weekend. I **can **has.
*Who earned herself a permanent place on the Dimwit List when I showed her The Blog of the Agony Aunt and she didn’t get it. She goes around yapping about ignorant mountain folk, and then she can’t understand Agony Aunt Ryl.
Oh, my, Spaz. I’m so sorry. Insistent dimwittedness/humorlessness is one of the hardest traits to cope with.
Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone.
Next crisis appears to have been averted. Just waiting for a file to be transferred and we should be good for the rest of the weekend.
I’ve run a few errands (following about 6 phone calls getting today’s snag sorted out) and am knitting a bit and about to do some laundry. Also have some pinto beans in the crock pot. First time I’ve made them this way, but wanted to experiment on a weekend my nephew wasn’t here. He loves the way our favorite taco truck makes beans and I’m pretty sure I should be able to achieve something close to that with the crock pot.
We finally had the sampler tray at Andy’s, which has passable barbecue.
Tiny portions and passable. Catfish for Mrs. Plant (v.3.0), ribs for me and shared pulled pork and fries.
We had planned on the zoo, but there is a football game today at the adjoining stadium, so there is no place to park and a lot of traffic on Markham street.
Went to Northside Aquatics and bought a sponge for the skimmer. I expect to find the one that I lost at any moment.
Howdy Y’all! In from a wunnerful afternoon at the cee-mint pond. Just relaxatin’ and floatin’ and imbibin’ beerverages. OYKW developed a hankerin’ for pizza so has gone to get it for dindin. I did my part. I ordered it online.
Home from feeding cats, or I should say cat because they decided to board the one who doesn’t like to use the litter box.
I must have a sinus infection because now my other ear hurts and is swollen, as well as having a sore throat and headache.
I’ll get a couple of hours in tonight but I should have been irking all day.
I feel you Spaz, I got behind one of those people who drives 50 in the fast lane, has everybody behind him hitting their brakes, then when I finally got to where I could pass him on the right he sped up to 70 until he got next to the guy in front of me. Then they both did 50 side by side tying up traffic. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to pull up beside him so I could salute him, obviously anybody who tries that hard to be obnoxious has earned it.
Today was horrible. We all got on each other’s nerves, our tempers and patience were short, and we didn’t get along. I hated it. I just keep crying. I hope tomorrow goes better. The only one who kept smiling today was the baby. I wish I could be that innocent and carefree
I have my “new” work laptop here.
A refurbished Dell, but by G-d it has a com port so that I may connect directly to network switches.
Windows 7. It wanted to do system restore, and when restored I had a virus masquerading as helpful software. System restore crashed. I installed Windows XP from one of our licenses and spent two days hunting down the drivers and getting the network functioning.
As I say at work, “All is well now.”
