A Laborious MMP

I was gone from the Dope, from being fed up. My absence lasted half a day. I’m back again!

Haven’t even peeked at the Dope since Friday or late Thursday. I got home from irk about 4 this am. I missed my Mumper Family, you guys and gals are a rather important part of my life. Even when I don’t post I lurk, couldn’t even lurk.

It was teh suckage

Cheers

Jim

Sarcasm…It is a difficult concept.

I need to send you a SHARK :slight_smile:

The Jewish New Year is coming up, and Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) and I began discussing recipes. Now, it was a link from a Jewish site to a cooking site, but check out the other recipes on the same page as roast turkey with vegetables. Oven roasted shrimp and garlic.

I need to do something
I’m not sure what but something.

Sah-dog needs his aspirin but he won’t let me touch him and he won’t eat anything. I tried to open his mouth to pop in a pill but he screamed like I was killing him. He’s finally laying down peacefully out in the dining room.
The realtor is coming by with a paper for me to sign and then I guess he can make the offer and see what happens.

I need to go to the store for dog food.
I need to get up off my butt and do something.

We went to town, had N.O.L., came back here and then OYKW went to his place to do some laundry. I had a nap and ironed some shirts. Tomorrow is after Labor Day so da bear must wear a tie to irk. September through April is tie time. Sigh.

Thus has it been in swampland today.

I’ve been working on a shawl. I also steamed a batch of rice. I’m making poke fried rice for supper. Never made fried rice before, but it looks simple enough. We shall see…

Thanks, but the salt water tank is only 100 gallons. :frowning:

Howz about this one?

Too small to stick a frikkin’ laser beam to it’s frikkin head.

A very small laser pointer, perhaps.

One can imagine the little guy saying, “Dude, I am so going to bite your finger! Put me back into the water, or say goodbye to your little fingernail!”

Happy Labor Day, all!

I’ve had some unusual jobs over the years. I know I’ve shared this one before, but the summer after my freshman year in college I worked as a mother’s helper down the shore in Ventnor, NJ (one of Atlantic City’s outskirts). AC was still a tourist beach town then, pre-casino days, so the space was good, but … pay was $20/week, and I worked 6 days a week, with Thursday being my day off. I had charge of 3 boys, ages 3, 5 and 7. The 5 yr. old had a blood disorder (that was all I’d been told) that meant he had to be watched so as not to bleed, and no it wasn’t hemophilia. He was also taking all sorts of meds, which included testosterone and yes, he had passed into teenage even though he was only 5. He had a deep voice, hairy chest and face, acne and an enlarged penis. LOL Oh and it wasn’t the family’s house, it was the house of her 3 months pregnant sister who was very loud and controlling. There was a whole lot this family did NOT tell me before I took the position and then I couldn’t really back out, so I toed the line, so to speak, but I was counting down the days, let me tell you. That was a nightmare job, believe me. I am only telling the very basics here! LOL

At any rate, I’m mostly lurking but am still here. If LiLi is around, there is a cook book that specializes in veggies for kids and making dishes that kids will eat without knowing that they are mostly veggies. One of them was made up on The Chew by the daughter of Dr. Oz, who apparently loves them herself - cauliflower mac and cheese. You do put a little cheese in the sauce but it’s mostly cauliflower. ** Rosie’s** .sig to any and all who are in need, please!

My first attempt at fried rice was… OK. Every recipe I read was different - vastly different - so I’ll keep trying till I find one that works.

Meanwhile, my wok is going to be a disaster to clean. It’ll have to soak for a while for sure. But I have a happy tummy, so there’s that!

As some of you know, I survived my first 10K today. What I didn’t mention is that I haven’t fared it very well. I lost so much water and salt by sweating that I messed up my lithium level somewhat. I’ve spent the rest of the day drinking liquids and eating salty foods to try to get it back to normal. I’m better now other than a raging headache and feeling kind of scared because having it messed up too much can kill you. I’m ok, though.

Well, see, when I grew up I wanted to do something with Culinary Arts. That’s why it made it kind of difficult when I had to say goodbye to catering after 16 years. It’s kind of like I already lived my dream and so now what… I love teaching so far and I’m glad that I got into it, but it was my practical choice after my dream had fizzled.

I sound bummed out but I’m not. I’m just worn out from this morning, I guess.

I had pizza for supper. It was delicious.

The storm’s rolling in now. Better turn off the computer. Seeya all later. (Seey’all later?)

“see all y’all later”

I’ll seez youse guise latah.

What? I thought we were doin’ regional accents.

Howdy Herbs and Jim!

I finally finished up all the ironin’. I should not wait a month to iron shirts. I have lots of shirts. I could have gone probably another six weeks without ironin’ shirts, that’s how many shirts I have. I’m a shirtaholic. So is OYKW. We are each other’s shirt codependent enablers.

Yay for survivin’ the 10K StickyBuns!

Ok, Ima go check out a couple other things and then go lie upon the bed and watch teevee until sleepytime. Tomorrow is, alas, back to irk. In a tie even.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

I miss my dog. He’s mad at me and is hiding from me because I tried to give him some aspirin.
I was the first person to hold him the day he was born, a little tiny thing who cried every time I put him back down. I’ve raised him and loved him from puppy hood and I’ve fed and protected and cared for him for twelve years
and he still thinks I am trying to poison him!

I’m hungry but I’ve got a half hour more of irk and then I can go eat some dinner, left over spaghetti I think.
