October 4th 1970. 36 years since Janis Joplin passed away.
Wonder if she ever got that Mercedes Benz? Or if she’s enjoying an eternal yesterday with Bobby? I’ll hoist a cold one to her memory…
I’m going to put this on the board tomorrow, and weep, because I’m willing to bet not one of my sophomores knows who Janis was.
“Won’t you move over?”
They may surprise you. Some of the kiddies appreciate the classics these days. They also seem to think they discovered Janis AND tie-dye for some reason.
I just read in Entertainment Weekly that it looks like the Janis bioflick may actually happen – with Penelope Spheeris directing and Zoe Deschamel (sp?) starring.
Beats all hell out of the one Renee Zellwegger has been threatening us with for years.
I thought the movie “The Rose” with Bette Midler was Janis’ bioflick?
Loosely based on her life. I can never imagine Joplin thinking much of the sound track.
Zooey Deschanel. Rough up her pretty hair, get out the big hippy sunglasses, and I can see going from Zooey to Janis.
