Yeah, I recently said I needed to kick someone’s ass but I was referring to the real life variety of walking rectum that inhabits my neighborhood. I have to mention that I haven’t seen the cat yet… he knows I’m still in a pissed off mood.
I understand the difference between real life and life here on the net.
In my real life last night I came really close to breaking out the proverbial sixpack of whupass on some assholes that richly deserved it. I figure that if you go and confront three drunken assholes on your front lawn you had better be ready to pull the pin if needed.
I woke up my other neighbor about half an hour ago because his shit for brains son was shining a laser pointer in through my front window and freaking out Mrs. Feynn. This guy is a walking eclipse but I could care less… I left him to deal with his son who I would guess doesn’t own a laser pointer any more.
Before this…I folded and put away laundry, vacuumed, took out the garbage, bathed the girls, and washed the floors after I got home from work today. Not hard to guess why I’m taken already… heh heh heh.
Diane – so, I’m impressive? (Rubs nails briskly across chest) why thank you! My parents always said that education pays… I guess they just didn’t realize how MINE would pay off! 
Honestly, I was concerned because I’ve made certain statements that taken out of context, could seem like I was really threatening physical violence. I was willing to take the heat in case I was in that group. (WHEW!)

And really folks, even IRL it is very dangerous to go LOOKING for a confrontation. It’s one thing if you are attacked and defend yourself but actually going after someone, physically, for almost any other reason is not only dangerous, it’s called battery or assault. Call the cops. That’s their job.
I mean to deal with these people, not to beat the shit out of them.
I know, we all get to see those videos and hear how cops are scum but they, for the most part, are regular folks who really want to help and protect you.

I’ve never been in a fight. I’ve never laid a hand on another human in anger.
That said, I have been “threatened” with physical violence, or told I need my ass kicked, by 3 or 4 posters of the course of my time posting here. In each instance, I’ve told them, “Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be right here.” None of them has ever taken me up on it. When someone says something stupid like that, and you tell them, “OK,” it’s usually sufficient for shutting them up.
I, newly arrived here at STMB, came for the debates/discourse/discussions etc. Don’t mind mindless pointless shit… like that there’s an area for it specifically. I have tried to be polite here, with an occasional smiley face thrown in for comic effect. Have seen and chosen not to be a part of, ad hominom attacks using profanity, and now, too threats?. I applaud your ability to convey your opionion without the use of nonsensical attack phrases. in any open foum, even those that are monitored, there will be people who chose a different path. I am happy to find that not everyone here thinks that sort of thing is appropriate, even if it IS posted in the pit.

I hate being threatened with violence, I am small and skinny and have always been the nerd that everyone picks on.
Whenever one of these dominant-male monkey motherfuckers comes on the board, I just tell them how small I am, and how really skinny I am, and ask them if it makes them feal good to pick on a wimp and a coward.
Like pldennison, I have never been a fight either. I got beat up a lot, but that doesn’t count. One time this guy’s girlfriend kicked my ass because I spilled something on her. I was an accident and I apologized and offered to have it cleaned, but she just went off and kicked my ass. What could I do? I just covered up and took it.
Anyway, I know I could post and say I was tough, and that I am big and mean and used to be a bouncer and shit like that, but what good would that do?
No one would care, and it would only make me look like an asshole.

Well, if I didn’t have an aversion to fighting, I could probably kick ass like no one’s business. But for some reason I can’t bring myself to hit anyone. And I never have. It’s almost a disability.
I talk to my boys about fighting fairly often as they are always wanting me to teach them stuff I know. They are impressed that their dad used to teach karate and I am sure it comes up when they are playing the “my dad is tougher than your dad” game.
I tell them that I am not really that tough and that one should never fight unless there is no other choice. If someone is getting beaten up it is acceptable to step in if you can stop that beating from happening.
I have told them that knowing how to stay out of fights is more important than knowing how to fight. We do not tolerate them fighting with each other to solve their problems.
All that said it seems like a few here are taking a black/ white attitude towards things. I agree that people who make threats usually cannot back it up. I have often confronted these kinds of people and they just whither up and go away. I have had poeple tell me “I’m gonna take you outside and kick your ass”. My response has often been to start walking for the door and tell them to hurry up so I can get this over with. I have worked in bars and also spent too much time in them so have learned how to pick out the mouthy drunks vs. the guys who really want to hurt someone ie. ME.
I want my kids to know how to defend themselves and don’t want to see them terrorized as I was when I was their age. I was small then and I am small now. I spent too much of my childhood running from bullies and don’t want them to experience that.
Just my two bits on this.

On the contrary, IMHO this forum is very much in the character of Uncle Cecil. Fighting ignorance is his motto. A good warrior knows they need practice and training before entering combat! This war on ignorance is fought with word and witticism instead of conventional armaments. Therefore you have this message board! A place to hone the skills necessary to shine the light of truth on the shadows of rumor and urban legend.
Cecil routinely shows that the bare facts alone are not enough for this endeavour. Sometimes the truth is harsh, sometimes the truth is boring. For increased palatability for the unenlightened masses it is served with jocularity and refined language arts. Only by practice and peer-review can we muster the refinement from which to spear-head his noble cause.
This OP is a perfect example! Diane and company have dealt with a Neanderthal approach to debate with refinement and dignity. They have bravely shown that intimidation is an ineffective weapon against a sound argument (or even a shoddy one). Where can you go to learn and practice the linguistic techniques necessary to put down an unwashed heathen?
By extension of your argument, would you abolish military training camps and send our troops off to war to be decimated? I think you would not! Therefore I implore you to rethink your meritless statement and join in this grand debate!
