A (M)ad Lib MMP

FCM, heavy munchies sound just fine to me. If you’d like to PM me with your menu and quantities, etc. I’ll look them over for you. (But you’re probably fine as it is.)

I keep forgetting this. :smack: :smack:

Four down, one to go, woo hoo!

I got remembered this year, for secretary Day! I got a basket of fresh cut flowers that are gorgeous, a card and a box of candy. For the past couple of years, they’ve kinda forgotten about it. :frowning: I haven’t eaten any of the candy … yet. To be honest, I’d be happy with a plant or flowers and a card, but I’ll take the candy as well. LOL And oh yes, it’s chocolate, so I will share with FCM.

Dunno what’s for dinner, will have to see what we have. I think I’ve had my fill of chicken for a while, though.

Is it broken technology day? One of my employees has a dead laptop. She had damaged a USB port and one of our techs made the dumb move of trying to fix it and killed the mother board instead. Then they were threatening to charge us for it. Doesn’t really matter to me as we’ll get whatever money we need anyway, but the principle of it bothers me. They appear to have resolved the issue without charging us, but still…why should this be my problem?

I really like Ben and Jerry’s, taxi. But given the choice of my local ice cream place and them, I’d go with the local (as long as they maintain the quality they’ve got going). It’s a good thing they’re expensive; otherwise, I’d be sporting a whole lot more pounds.

One day, we’ll have an MMP potluck. (Or maybe just a cooking fest.) It will rock.

I think the blog set-up is great, McUne. And you get to decide how it works because you’re doing all the work. I still owe you a bunch of recipes. Maybe I’ll get to them over the weekend. (It’ll depend on the weather, I’m afraid.)

Now I’m going out to mow and do other gardening chores. Woo hoo.

Back after a while.

GT

Bad Chinese cooked supper. It was about as bad as expected.

**CutiePie ** - PM sent - thanks!

**tarra ** - I don’t see any chocolate around here… :stuck_out_tongue:

Taz is on the bad kitteh list - he knocked 2 of my plants off the windowsill. Brat!! I just finished taking my spider plants outside and watering them deeply. They’ll live on the porch till frost. I also watered all the indoor plants.

But I’m still pooped.

Tahred. Long day. Got sent home from work (yes, I am still employed, we just had a slow day), but a girlfriend called --her mom is in ICU on a vent and it doesn’t look good. I was supposed to meet her at 6pm and go with her to the ICU. I also needed to get birthday presents for my SIL’s kids.

Get home at 1pm to ringing phone. Is GF, wanting to talk re her mom. I talk to her for about an hour. I end meeting her in ICU and staying there for 2 hours–nurses patronized the hell out of me until I tell them I worked in ICU–then they just avoid me. I don’t care because I’m already seeing some not shitty, but not best practices. I correct those I can and plant a seed in GF’s ear re assertiveness with the staff.

Then I go to Target to buy 2 kids who already have every toy known to man a birthday present. I got her a hula hoop and him a Tball set. Same price for both. I refuse to buy Barbie shit or camo/gun shit. They don’t read yet (and are not read to–a puzzle would puzzle them. I am so sad for these Pottery Barncatalog kids). I refuse to buy pre-literate children anything that requires batteries or that lights up or makes electronic noise. Yes, I’m an old biddybitch who believes in the ultimate hard drive–the one between your ears.

Anyway, I am home now and exhausted. Going to ICU took something out of me, or else I am just more tired than I thought. (I got some good dirt though–the old NM who was there when I worked there–this is a different hospital than the one I work in now-she was “retired”. Heh. Nasty woman; not good to her nurses).

Early bed and then work tomorrow.

I have spent the ENTIRE afternoon reading Questionable Content from beginning to . . . well, I haven’t gotten to the end yet. :smack: doggie, you put up that link, didn’t you? I can’t believe I’ve never come across that comic before.

Poor rigs. Want a foot massage? I’m good at those.

All this talk of Ben & Jerry’s and I haven’t (heh) weighed in yet!
No store near here, but they happen to make Pistachio and my Lords that is my favorite ice cream ever!
And it’s the only way to get pistachio around here at all. I’m not complaining, it’s very yum.

My dad talked me down a little about the tests, telling me that worrying won’t make it any better. He’s right, but with the Little Guy I had preeclampsia at the end, and having the threat hanging over my head now isn’t doing me any favors.
Thank you for the hugs pie, think normal sugar levels, and protein free pee! (Weird I know.)

Oldest Daughter is slightly better after upping her dosage, she’s currently on Cerequil, and was on Adderol but they stopped that after her first aggresive episode. I have a long weekend with her, no school tomorrow. I’ll be watching her like a hawk.
Tigs, she’s defenitely not happy about the pregnancy, but she’s never been happy about any of them. We were starting to have problems with her before we found out. It’s just another element in this stage.

Right now the kids are wrestling on the couch. Loud. They’re revolting because I turned off the TV I think. I wanted them to find something else to do, this is what I was rewarded with. Monkeys, the lot of them.

What in god’s name is questionable content–is it a book or a paper or what? And now I know you can’t go back to Korea–I will hire you as my personal foot massager. (seriously–I will do anything for a good foot massage).

Have a horrid headache now. I think I just need sleep. Night, all.

It’s an online comic.

Work went OK. Trane the a/c possum was out again. Nelly is getting obsessed with it. I’m watching the Habs/Flyers game. Don Cherry rocks.

Glad the kid is a little better, TagFree

Hi MBG!

Holy crap you guys are chatty!

Thanks everyone for the good wishes on the thyroid thingie and good wishes and hugs back at everyone who needs them.

Work was uh…interesting. Stress levels are high for my supervisor. Things are just pouring in for us and there’s a big ass brief that everyone is trying to prepare for as well. The CG was given one of her pre-briefs about the big brief she’s supposed to give and she was NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. I’m glad I wasn’t in the room. On top of that, a congressional was supposed to be answered by another division today, but they didn’t get it done, so now it falls to my office to do it. I offered to come in tomorrow (my RDO), but my boss told me no. <Shrug> I offered, she didn’t take me up on it, so now she’s got extra stress.

I am still waiting to hear from those dumb clucks at my HMO about whether they’ve approved the guided needle biopsy. Hopefully, I’ll hear something tomorrow.

I am preparing to work out again tonight. I did end up going the other night and worked hard, even though I really didn’t feel like it. Then, we came home and had some of our fancy cheese and some Petit Sirah (sp?) wine. It was very tasty.

I wish our friend would hurry up and get going. I hate getting home from the Y at 9:00 in the evening.

Someone upthread asked who owned a Dyson. I own a Dyson Animal and I lurves it.

Also, someone asked about the handmade cheese. The cheese came from Beecher’s Handmade Cheese. They have a website too.

Smooches to everyone!

Oh, yeah: I wouldn’t expect to be fed anything major, either, FCM.

Sorry about your friend and her mom, rigs. She’s lucky to have you to help and push her in the right direction.

Did tnc cooperate with the sleeping today, LiLi?

Cheese sounds yum, Taters.

Yay for work being OK, doggio.

I spent about an hour and a half weeding, mowing, pruning, etc. Everything looks much better. I’m hoping I can force myself to do an hour or so of garden work every nice day from here on out. That should guarantee that I get all the renovation done that I’d like to finish this year. Also, I’m going to need to attack the front steps and probably paint the house itself. That will be fun, of course. It’s very small and only one story, so I’m thinking I should be able to handle it myself.

Allergies are really annoying today. (Already did the ceremonial pollen removal and had previously taken the industrial strength antihistamines.)

Think I’ll read a bit and then crawl into bed. Tomorrow’s Firday!!! Yay!!!

GT

Wow, I don’t think I can get caught up this week, so I will just refer you to rosies sig and say ditto.

I had a most yummeriffic dinner. I had a batch of taco meat in the freezer, so I decided on a casserole. Not an actual recipe, but here is what I did: about a pound and a half of taco meat, 2/3 of a jar of leftover salsa, a can of tomato sauce, a large glug (is too a measurement) of garlic powder, a handful of shredded cheddar cheese and a pound of boiled macaroni. Stir it all together in a large casserole dish and cover with more cheese. Cover and bake at 350 for an hour. I had some corn muffins with it.

This is an afternoon affair so no one should expect a full meal. If they complain, point 'em towards the nearest BK, the savages. Definitely finger food. Oh, btw, those meatballs… you should have some little toothpicks cause, fun though it is, it ain’t polite to pick 'em up with your fingers in public. I suggest the toothpicks with the little colored cellophane stuff on the end of 'em cause they’re more festive. Oh and forks for the cake. Plates too. Just shows more class.

I like to be of help.

I bought a bag of cheese puffs. I should not have done that. They sit atop the fridge in the laundry room AKA the beerator mocking me.

Wallflower, your taco casserole sounds deelish! I may have to give that a try next time I’m feeling like something ground-beefy.

I felt too lazy to make anything today, so thank Og for leftovers! I made a salad out of the stuff that was kicking around in the crisper and looking wilty, topped with leftover steak from yesterday and served with some celery root soup that I’d made earlier in the week. Pretty decent, if I do say so myself.

…and on that note, bedtime for me.

I’ve been half-asleep all day, and tomorrow will be hectic since I’m taking over a bunch of stuff from a colleague who had to take several weeks off for bereavement leave (his father, sadly, and totally out of the blue… no one my age should have to bury a parent, but apparently the universe had a different idea).

Og forbid I get hit by a bus… if both of us are out of commission, there’s no one left who could do the job properly. I think I might start wearing a combination Hazmat suit and body armor to avoid injury/illness.

I want a Gyro fairy too, I like gyros… I get them at the shop in the mall across the way but they aren’t as good as the ones at the store I used to buy them, in another city. And once a year I get them from the Greek Festival.

Going crazy at work, trying to train the new guy without letting him do anything because he can’t use my login (understandable, cuz of SOX) but they have their thumbs up their asses about getting him his login. Wondering if I did the wrong thing by saying yeah to the new job at work now, what if the government calls me back in a week and says ‘hey we do want you to start in a couple weeks’.

Then I have to say no, or look like an ass for saying yes to the job at work and bailing before it really starts. bangs head against the wall Still a big money difference, but I guess I’m afraid of jumping to a whole new job. I dunno what to do wails

God, I’m so wishy washy. But… I can do this for a year. If it doesn’t work out, I can always go back to school fall 2009 and do my last year of full classes to get my bachelor’s and reapply for the gov’t. I’ll still have had three years in a position with this company, but then I’d be finishing up my education and getting closer to an accounting designation. Either way, if I stick with this I need other classes (at a different school no less) to go anywhere. I need my backup plan, it calms me down. I worry too much, just like my Mom and my plans are my way of expecting the worst (though the worst from where I sit now would be losing this job and not getting a gov’t job because I either declined or they didn’t call and then I don’t have a guaranteed seat at school for this fall because I sat on my ass hoping for the gov’t to call… see? Worry-wart.)

deep breath Sorry, rambling.

Mom did ribs and rice tonight for supper. Yummy stuff.

snugs Nolabel Hope things with eldest daughter work out and that nothing is wrong with your pregnancy. I remember drinking that orange soda stuff for the test, I was jittery like I’d drunk three X-Large double doubles in a couple hours…

[del]Morning[/del]Afternoon all! Time flies, huh?

Yes GT, I have been rather busy at the new job, but there is also an element of “Net Nanny” at the new place. All my incoming and outgoing emails are automatically blind-copied to my boss and the IT supervisor in the head office, and they also have some kind of Big Brother software on the system, so instead of blocking non-business type websites, they just “virtually” look over my shoulder and see what I’m doing on the net! A bit creepy and kind of insulting, but I guess that’s the North American way (I’m used to Australian and UK firms, which treat professionals as professionals - if you bill the hours and get your work done, we don’t much care what you look at or who you email).

Okay, sorry for my absence, but now I have to run again - my mushroom risotto requires my attention! Hugs, yays, boos, etc to all in need!

:blows kisses to the MMP, as she runs from the room:

Up and caffeinated, off to work again.

Woo Hoo, thank Og it’s finally FIRDAY!!!

Up and caffeinating, ready to go in … last day this week. chuckles Awful isn’t it - I live for the weekends. Happy Friday all.

Yay for Friday!

Stop worrying FB! That’s an order!

Hope things continue getting better, NoLa.

Hi Dotty! That sounds a bit creepy. They must not use e-mail a lot if there’s room to blind copy all those people. Other than that, how’s the job going?

Wanna see some pictures? They’re from the flower arrangement exhibit at the art museum. It was extremely cool. (It never translates really well into pictures, but you’ll get a little bit of an idea.)

Guess I should get moving on the day…

Hugs to all!
