Snarl. Woke up with raging headache. Petercat kept waking me up all.night.long. plus had to do emergency midnight maintenance on Bobbyefroggye’s water pump. Have to spend first two hours at Reference Work on the desk.
“So, Spaz, will you be going to the grad student meeting tonight?”
“Die in a fire.”
SPEAKING OF! I got pictures of the ruins yesterday. I’ll put them up tonight when I get hold of the USB cable.
gah. I had even clicked on the link and read the damned thing. :smack:
Head slightly better this morning–think it’s weather related/sinus stuff. Tooth is killing me–I think my filling needs to be adjusted or something. He had told me that it would need to “settle down” but it’s been over a week and every day ends in pain. My bite feels off at weird times etc.
I am starting to feel the crunch of May and all it’s insanity and I no like it. Off to work. Hope everyone has a nice day today.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienatin’ and sneezin’ all over the place. There’s sump’n in the air today definitely. Mama nature is pollinatin’ and it irritates my sinuses. Good thing I’m workin’ from da cave today. Actually I don’t have a whole lot to get done cause I was a good bear yesterday and got through a bunch of stuff. If’n I get in gear, I could finish what’s left by noon. So I shall.
It has been decreed that we shall sup at Dead Lobster tonight. This involves a combination gift card and some apparent special on shrimpies. I ain’t payin’ so, yay.
Ok, seriously, gonna get busy and get this outta the way.
Gorgeous arrangements, gt. I particularly love the one with the bird of paradise and gerbera (at least, I think they’re gerbera?)… it’s very reminiscent of the ikebana one of my aunts likes to do.
Spaz, I’m still giggling over the 13-yr old “ZOMG, mom and dad are having sex? Ewwwwww!” I guess I should be grateful that the only eww-worthy signs of affection between my folks was occasional hand-holding.
I’m up. Well… in the sense that I’m vertical, anyways. Awake? Not so much. Good thing I cashed in my free coffee and got m’self an extra large double double.
Yay for Firday!
(Dunno why I’m so excited about it, though, considering the weekend will suck… The Boy will be gone all Saturday and most of Sunday to participate in a 24 Hour Film Challenge, and I have to drag my ass into work at 7am on Sunday for a systems conversion. So we probably won’t see each other at all until Sunday night. Blaaaaaargh.)
When I was attending Trailer Trash Middle School there was not one, not two, but THREE fourteen-year-old girls who were pregnant in my eighth grade class. One of them dropped out to marry her nineteen/twenty-year-old babydaddy. :smack:
I guess I’m not suprised by the pregnant 14 year old because
my mom had me when she was 14. I feel for teenage parents, I really do. But, I also know how much having a teenage parent can mess up a kid. Now, I was lucky, my mom was the youngest of 6, so there were always people to take care of me. If you have questions, ask away. I’ll answer whatever you want to know.
Morning, all. I’m here. I’m not sure I can say anything else yet; I was up too late last night working, and I’m still caffeinating. Slowly.
Papa Tigs went to school with a girl who had three kids before she was 16. She was also part of a very large family, so it wasn’t like she had to drop out and live on welfare, but still.
I’ve got nothing much today. Hugs, yays, [del]goos[/del]boos, as appropriate (that was accidental, but hey, I’ll send goos to tnc). I’ll be around. I guess.
Spaz, were your cat and my cat channeling each other last night? Mine kept jumping on and off the bed and waking me up too, until I locked her out of the bedroom at 4 this morning. Blurgh.
Flutter, I’m a worrier too. And I, too, got it from my super-worrier Mom. It sucks, especially when you read all the advice about living a longer, healthier life that says worrying can take years off your life. Then I just end up worrying about dying early because I worry too much. :rolleyes: So I know how you feel. {{hugs}}
Hi, BooFae. We haven’t seen you around much lately. Hope everything’s ok.
Another rainy day here, but the grass is so green that it’s starting to look like Ireland.
I’ve got basil, cilantro, and (of course) catnip starting to grow. And I think I’m going to try to grow a cherry tomato on our patio this summer. Should be good.
Dangit, I’m tahred and I just got up! It’s my own fault, I stay up too late then wake up at normal hours but still… Maybe tomorrow morning I’ll sleep in. And maybe monkeys will fly outta my butt on tiny bat wings singing the “Hellelujah Chorus.”
So the grandkid decided to freak us all out yesterday by passing out at his play rehearsal–apparently it was pretty warm in the theater and he never hydrates properly and he just keeled right over. Has a big old knot on his head this morning according to my daughter. I sure hope he isn’t going to make a habit of this sort of thing because Grandma can’t take the stress!
Okay, I’ll do my best not to worry. Sometimes I get my head in a circle and it starts to drag me down. I’m nowhere near as bad a worrier as I used to be (which is a good thing, because it paralyzed me completely and I was depressed as a teen and ended up a high school dropout… I’m far from that girl now).
Still cold and snowy, I just wish winter would let up and spring throw us a bone. C’mon, enough of winter now and let it get above freezing. Maybe instead of snow we could have a little rain. I heard birds singing when I left the house this morning, it just seemed wrong because I was shivering.
I’m through! Yay Me! Course now I have N.O.T. on to boil for N.O.T. sallit for Sunday lunch. Speakin’ of which, twelve people will descend upon da cave to feast Sunday. I am insane! Fortunately it will be nice and warm thus dining Al Fresco will be possible. Tomorrow I am smokin’ two <snerk> Boston butts <snerk> which will transform into pulled pork bbq. Since I’ll have the smoker goin’ Ima smoke some chicken boobs too, which will be a nice dindin tomorrow night.
Yay Spaz snarked! I lurve me some Spaz snark!
Your aunt likes to arrange baby food jars at Ikea? Is there much call for that?
Good mornin’ everyone. I am sitting here sipping my coffee and enjoying my RDO. The dog and I are the only living beings in the house, so it’s nice and quiet.
I need to do some serious cleaning today. I also need to call the photography place and set up a portrait session for my daughter. She needs a haircut, so I’ll have to call and make an appointment for that as well.
I don’t know what our weekend plans are, yet, but I’m sure we’ll be doing something.
Ok, so my crazy morning is finally over. At one point I made some of my Baked Potato Salad and I was supposed to be making enough for 12 people, but, oops, I probably made enough for 50! :smack:  It’s ok, though, I’ll take some to the TVParents as a mode for sucking up. Everybody here took some home, and there’s still probably 1/2 gallon left that will keep and hopefully be used next week.
I interacted with one of my vendors just a little bit ago. She’s a very nice girl, yet at one point she asked me how to spell ‘doesn’t’.
Ok, I need to get back to doing the really fun stuff (paperwork).
I should go out and buy some eggs and stuff, but it’s raining. :: whine ::
Last night I think I discovered why Olive’s previous owner gave her up. Her previous owner must’ve liked doing jigsaw puzzles. I bought one on a whim yesterday and the stupid cat would not let me concentrate. She kept on trying to roll around in the pieces. I had to lock her out of the room for a bit.
mmousie, a lot of my students have very young mothers - it’s been interesting to hear from them what it was like growing up. It can’t be easy, being a mother at such a young age, but most of them seem to be more well-adjusted than people would assume (the students - I dunno about the mothers). You can ignore this question if you like, but I was wondering how much your relationship with your mother is/was affected by the fact there’s such a narrow age difference between the two of you.
My darling grandmother sent me money for a bday present. Off to shop zappos.com.
