Well, identity theft isn’t a risk with these guys - they’re aiming to steal your utility contract. See, these guys pose as your current provider but in fact are representing a completely different company. They use double-speak and vague answers to trick you into agreeing to a contract with the company they represent.
Here 's a thread detailing some people’s experiences with the shysters.
Not illegal, unfortunately, though it’s beyond shady. It’s the kind of BS that flies right under some people’s radar. I’m pondering a call to the BBB, but that rarely solves anything when you’re dealing with big businesses like this.
I just checked and it turns out we do have a contract with them for the water heater (not our decision - it was already in place when we moved in). Unfortunately, the inspector had mentioned that building code had changed after the install, so we’d be on the hook for a couple hundred in upgrades before a new heater could be installed if we decided to kick Direct Energy to the curb. You can bet your sweet ass I’m switching over to a different company when that water heater kicks the bucket, though.
I love hearing about Olive, Haze, but then I got to thinking … will you be able to take her to Korea?! What will happen to her? Gah, now I’m worried for her. LOL Sorry, I’m concerned about you too, really. Actually, I think you can take cats/dogs but they have to be in quarantine for a while once they get there. Do you know?
Gawd, sorry for being so nosy. I think I’m going to make a trek to Whole Paycheck tomorrow - I want some more of that flavored Fage yogurt. There’s also a Borders across the street, so I may get a new book as well. Right now, I’m re-reading an old Dean Koontz (“Lightning” in case anyone is interested).
Hope you have a safe journey, FCM, and hope that all goes well with your daughter’s graduation and wedding! You know we’ll all be thinking of you.
Darn you, Swampy! First you talk about the butts you’re going to smoke tomorrow (LOL!), then you talk about dinner at Red Lobster, shame on you. Ah well, at least the Gyro Fairy (in the guise of my daughter … LOL) visited me today. At my request, my daughter picked up a gyro for me for dinner tonight from one of the best Greek delis around. So woo hoo!
Huh, I guess things work differently up there. Here our power/gas/utilities are dictated by where we live. Each utility is responsible for serving a specific area. We don’t really have a choice.
I should go to the grocery store, but I don’t feel like it.
Break time again!! Last load is in the washer - it should be done in about 10 minutes. Cuke salad is done. Strawberries are hulled and rinsed. Dishwasher is washing. I also cleaned the front of the stove, the fridge, and the dishwasher.
When I toss the last load in the dryer, I’m going to start putting non-clothing into the van. I have a pile of casettes to listen to if I lose my radio signal - the previous owners left a bunch here - including 6 collections of 101 Strings. Yeah, that’ll keep me awake.
I think it’ll be a melatonin night. I have to sleep in bed, lest I fall asleep on the road. That would not be good. Too bad youse guys can’t keep me alert along the way.
MOOOOOOM I’m so proud! You not only got toothpicks, you got the classy ones. I suggest that when you start driving on I95 tomorrow, you start singin’ One Hundred Bottles Of Beer On The Wall until you reach Flahrdy. When you get down to the last bottle, sing “take it down, pass it around, and put one hundred more bottles of beer on the wall”. That way you can keep the song goin’ all the way. Boredom/sleepiness problem solved. Yet another way I prove to be helpful.
Smartie what can I say? I am the host with the most. Plus, if I drink here at da cave I have no further to go than to the bedroom.
Dead Lobster was good, surprise, surprise. I’m not real fond of the place but it was free so who am I to complain. Those Southwestern Lobster Roll thingys we had as an appetizer were teh nummy though! So was the margarita I had. I had crunchy fried shrimp as an entree. The shrimp were good. The baked potato was room temperature and that’s givin’ it the benefit of the doubt. I can make those cheddar biscuits. All one needs is a box of biscuit mix, some cheddar cheese and some garlic powder.
Ima go have a martini. I’m in the mood for a martooni or two.
Don’t forget to pack clean non-ratty underwear. Never take ratty underwear on a trip. Plus, count up the number of days you’ll be gone and take three more pairs of undies than the number of days. The sweater you don’t gotta pack though cause it’s warm down heah right now.
What else does MOOOOOOM need to know about packin’? C’mon y’all be helpful.
Cleaned some stuff up in the garden. Liberated - and ate - the first spareguts of the season. Off to walk for a bit, then back here to actually read the MMP. Although I’ve seen enough to wonder whether anyone’s explained N.O.T. yet.
Whew, back from errands and grocery shopping. I took my son out get spikes for track, and while we were there I ended up getting some new workout under and outer garments.
After that, we went to the vitamin store to get some iron for my daughter. I was surprised to see that I can’t purchase ferrous iron anymore. I thought this must have been a mistake, so after the vitamin place, we went to the grocery store, and still no go. My daughter was on 350 miligrams three times a day. The biggest dose I saw was 50 milligrams. So, I bought some of those, and will call her doctor on Monday to renew her 'scrip for the iron. She can take the iron I bought today, along with a multivitamin that has iron in it, until I can get her 'scrip renewed.
Today was a bit expensive, but it’s not like I do this really often anyway.
What a long day. Lisa the Bitch went to her country of origin for a visit/vaca. Now other sometimes Annoying Coworker has filled her shoes. If I ask a question, it is so hard to give a straightforward answer? I ask you…
Big thunder boomer as soon as I got home. #2 son has told me that he doesn’t want to play chess, scrabble or crazy eights or hearts with me. I am alone.
Older kids are at a church retreat. The Husband is at the Sox game getting rained on for the sake of “work”. (I wish I had to “work” at a ballgame.)
My toofum hurts still, but the dentist office never answered the phone today(?). I looked up the number and still, no answer, so I’m stuck with sensitive tooth all weekend.
Good luck, drive safe, that sucks, yay for you etc. all around.
My Very Own Annoying Cow Orker[sup]TM[/sup] (who isn’t really that annoying but for two or three things that really irritate me) has been on vacation, and Annoying Bitch Cow Orker[sup]TM[/sup], who also does the same task as I do, this week was on a different project. So I was ALL BY MYSELF!!!
Tommorrow, chorus friend and I will be papering the area with flyers for our membership drive. Joy. I hope it doesn’t rain.
