Muppet those dandelions deserved it! Oh and YAY on you for makin’ bureaucracy (that never looks right!) work for ya finally.

Ok, the <snerk> butts <snerk> are done (at the proper 170 degrees Amurrkin) and all wrapped up in heavy duty aluminum foil to cool down before goin’ into the fridge. Tomorrow mornin’ they shall be transferred into my biiiiiig slow cooker/roaster oven thingy to heat up and tenderize so that they may be so tender as to pull apart for BBQ. That shall be accomplished whilst we churchify. What I do is put ‘em, still wrapped in foil, into the slow cooker and let ‘em slowly heat up, which takes a while, that while bein’ durin’ churchification time. Then, when I get home, they are all tender and can be pulled apart with a fork for BBQ. It’s all win-win. I get churched and the <snerk> butts <snerk> get tender. How this happens is, thusly… the wrapped in foil <snerk> butts <snerk> get put in the slow cooker/roaster thingy which has about an inch and a half of water in the bottom. Thus, the <snerk> butts <snerk> slow steam on the “warm” setting while I get all churchified. When I get home. VOILA!, perfectly tender <snerk> butts <snerk> which can be pulled apart and doused in BBQ sauce. Yep… I do know how to do my BBQ, thankyewverymuch.

To those who asked why check the undies -
I think they said it best on Scrubs
(only marginally safe for work)

I have returned from my workout and various sundry errands.

After our workout, Mr. Taters and I decided to drive out to the lake to see if the boat launch was ready yet. We were most disappointed to discover the launch is still closed because they’re redoing it. It won’t be open until sometime next month.

There is another launch on the other side of the lake, but Mr. Taters really doesn’t to use that one because it’s pretty primitive. Additionally, they’re very ticket happy out at that launch. If you don’t have the proper vehicle permit for using the launch, they’ll ticket your ass in a second flat.

So, the only option we have left for this lake is to use the launch on the military installation. While I have access because I work there, I’m not sure it’s big enough and what stupid things they require of me to use it. Monday morning I’ll call them and find out.

Today would have been a lovely day to be out on the lake and wakeboarding. The water was smooth, the wind was down, and temps are around 65 degrees.

The hubby still seems pretty bummed about the whole thing.

After we returned from our disappointing trip to the lake, we chatted with some neighbors and then I came in and cleaned up so I could take my son to get his haircut. After my son got his haircut, we went to Costco. Damn, I still spent over $200.00, but I don’t feel like I got all that much.

Tomorrow, we will tackle the yard. I’ve bought garden gloves for everyone so weed pulling and lawn mowing will commence.

Off to cruise the Dope before I start tonight’s dinner. Tonight’s chop-chop will be halibut encrusted with panko bread crumbs, herbs, and parmesan cheese… I’ll make a spinach salad to accompany it.

So, Taters I take y’all won’t be here for lunch tomorrow? Even for my world famous pre-lunch Bloody Marys?

URP! Excuse me. Dindin was teh nummy! We et good. I need another shower cause I smell like smoked <snerk> butt <snerk>. Seriously, after takin’ up the chicken boobs and <snerk> butts <snerk> I smell like the smoker. I guess there’s worse things I could smell like. I mean, I’d rather smell like the smoker than, say, what I’d smell like if I’d fallen in the septic tank. So, things could be worse. Speakin’ of septic tanks, yesterday, da neighbors had theirs pumped and while it was happenin’, the wind changed directions and the smell of pumped out septic tank wafted over toward da cave. EWWWWWWWWWW! Septic tanks… the outhouses of surburbia.

Hey, MBG got those blinds hung yet? :stuck_out_tongue:

Unfortunately Swampy, we won’t be able to attend your “do”. Those pesky airlines won’t fly us for free.

I guess I should start dinner since my son has to go to a party at 6:00.

Am exhausted. 3 children under the age of six = loud and constant chaos. Gah.

I saw my SIL there. She’s ok, except when we talk. That sounds odd, but I mean I always think we should be able to get along–we went to the same HS, we both have kids; I was also a SAHM when my kids were her’s age; we’re both college educated, white, upper middle class women–we must have something in common, no?

No.
I’ll tell you both and you pick which one is more insane:

  1. that since she doesn’t have a degree in geophysics, she can’t know for sure if evolution is right or intelligent design, so she’ll keep an open mind about it. (she brought it up. I believe firmly in not sticking my hand in the crazy).

OR

  1. She “cuts” her kids’ milk (1%) with water for 2 reasons: to get the fluoride and so cut down on “empty calories.”
Please never wonder why I come home from these outings with a headache and a strong desire to drink.

I did some yard work for about 2 hours and now pan tollhouse cookies are in the oven. They are my dinner. I know I just sound like a petty bitch when I say stuff like this, but my MIL made the cakes this year. I loathe store bought cake, so I thought, hey–this should be good! I am sorry, but the woman cannot bake. The cakes were dry and tough. And how does chocolate frosting taste like strawberries?

I’m baking to take the taste away.

Kind of an extended driveby…

HazelNutCoffee always has the best stories.

We had quite a few people over last night. The police came and everything. That rocked.

I’m going to a party in a little bit. Yaya.

I posted to the photo thread. My contribution. Shrug.

Ow… I seriously think my brain broke with that one.

Mom is making fajitas cuz I went to the store to get the makings (what we didn’t have). Tomorrow I think will be a bakefest, I have my Grandma’s cinnamon bun recipe AND I found a lemon bar recipe (I luuuurve lemon bars, just like I luuuurve lemon meringue pie and it occured to me that since I spend so much buying lemon bars from the Heartland Cafe maybe I should make them myself…). Need to go to the library too.

For dessert today we have fresh pineapple or canteloupe (or both!).

Sooo hungry, glad fajita’s are almost done, don’t take long to make.

**Jingl ** how *you * doin’?

{{{{Haze}}}} I will echo what everyone else said, take your time to think about it.

I posted a couple pics over in the pic thread as well. I’ve been doing a self-portrait a day since the beginning of the year on Flickr. It’s actually been quite fun, though challenging.

Gack–

Should read AND TO cut down on empty calories. She is not relying on the presence of fluoride to decrease the “empty” calories. Or at least I don’t think so. She may well be.

Hey jngl, how YOU doin’?

McUne, I like the self-portrait a day idea. The Boy’s brother is doing one a week this year for a Flickr challenge - are you taking part in one of those too, or is this a self-guided exercise? I keep flirting with the idea, but I lack discipline to stick with anything for a month, let alone a year.

rigs, your SIL seems to be a special kind of stupid. Milk has empty calories??? At the risk of sticking your hand in a big can o’ worms, you should ask her why she doesn’t just swap to skim milk and be a bit more diligent about getting the kids to brush their teeth. But then again… that’s what THEY want us to believe, right?

I wasn’t feeling particularly hungry tonight, so I went for a nice stroll down to the main street and picked up a hunk of spanakopita, some Mimolette cheese and fresh figs to nibble on for dinner. Nom nom nom. It’s amazing how many people were out and about… I guess most of the locals stuck to the 'hood for their Saturday entertainment, seeing as the transit service still isn’t up and running.

Fingers crossed the damn union gets their crap straight by Monday (or get dragged back to work kicking and screaming by the gubmint… I guess the bureaucrats do serve a purpose after all).

And now… off to bed. Not looking forward to waking up at the crack of 5am to get to work. Ew.

BooFae, yeah bureaucracy really does suck, all over the world.

{{{Haze}}} I do agree with the general consensus, I am glad you plan to take your time and think about all this. However, only *you *can make that decision, and no matter what, you have a lot of friends here.
Oh! I love jigsaws, especially the kind that the kitty can’t get to. Like this

Swampy, you’re making me hungry, so off to forage soon.

rigs, re: SIL

[sarcasm] Lovely weather we’re having.[/sarcasm] Yesterday it was a major, huge, nasty line of thunderstorms, followed by very strong winds today. I had trouble keeping my little car on the road.

Yup, it’s through Flickr. I’m part of two groups, one 365day one and then another scrapbooking group doing the same thing essentially.

Last year I was going to do a picture a day for a year and I made it through a week. The self-portrait a day thing has been a ton of fun for me and I’ve actually stuck with it so far. I’m shocked at myself for doing that. It’s been fun though, challenging me. The good thing is that I’ve learned a ton about Photoshop Elements and love that program. Try it for a bit and see how it goes. It’s been fun! Though I’m running out of ideas for pictures…lol.

I guess you can’t fix stupid. Where to start? With the fact that there is over-fluoridation now (and I’m not sure if where she lives even has fluorinated water–she’s waaaaay the hell out west. Closer to Joliet than Chicago). I did say something about skim milk, but was overrun by my MIL relating the milk story. Here is the milk story:

3 kids visiting other grandpa (no relation to me and mine). Kid asks for glass o’ milk. Grandpa gets milk, only to be told that he doesn’t know how to “make milk”. Grandpa is  . Hahahahahahahahaha–it’s soooo funny! And they tell it 3 times and you have to laugh at it all 3 times! How about that?! Grandpa didn’t know how to make milk! hahahahahahaaha.
Sometimes I dream of arsenic.

Mahna, we just ordered from Danforth Dragon for dinner. Manchurian fried rice, crispy ginger beef, some kind of noodles, and Szechuan veggies. It’s fantastic! Thank you so much for the rec!

Nat is currently screaming his head off because he refused to go to sleep two hours ago. :wince: I do not like letting him cry. Aargh.

jings what MCUNE and Muppet said. Congrats! You have now been flirted at by a dirty old man.

rigs I have an aunt who cannot bake. She’s mom’s sis. Mom says the woman could screw up bringin’ a cake home from a bakery. I act like my father but a lot of my ummmmmm… [del]bitchiness[/del] character comes right from mom. I suggest you anonymously leave a case of flouride toothpaste on SIL’s doorstep with a note “This is from the government. We’re watching you!”

Taters I should’ve checked with Delta. I might have enough sky miles saved up to get y’all to at least Salt Lake City. Although, I did fly from Etlanner to Seattle that time I met ya. Flyin’ west seems to work from Etlanner. Flyin’ Delta west from anywhere else, however, means go to SLC first. Weird. Though, the terminal (concourse?) I end up in at SLC everytime does have this wonderful bar… ummm… errr… or so I’ve heard. (insert angel smiley here)

I’s tahred, so Ima go nitey nite.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Aw, poor little guy… I’m sending quiet, sleepy vibes your way. Hope he quiets down soon.

Those are fascinating anecdotes, rigs. I’m still trying to figure out where the full calories are if the ones in milk are empty. Got my mind going in an infinite loop, I’m afraid.

Gardened, churchified, went to Home Depot and Lowe’s to price some concrete stuff for patching front steps - that’ll be fun and to price some wood patch stuff for the garage door frame and part of both my front and back doorsteps.

We’re going on a plant scouting expedition tomorrow morning.

I was going to comment on something else, but I’m getting sleepy and I’ve forgotten.

Guess I’ll go crawl into beddie bye.

Nitey-nite!

GT

I figure crazy SIL cuts the milk with bottled water, thereby not getting any fluoride at all since bottled water doesn’t have it (except the kind that’s filtered city water for big bucks  ). Anyway, it definitely makes the brain hurt, doesn’t it?

I have been fairly diligent today. Not as diligent as I probably should have been, but frankly, right now I don’t give a rat’s patootie. Problem is, there’s not really anything else I want to do, either. I don’t feel like reading, knitting, sleeping, there’s nothing on TV, and I can’t be arsed to dig out a DVD. Grr. Oh well, c’est la vie. Or something.

I’ve skimmed but not absorbed. Except that I want to go eat at Swampy’s too!

I need to dig out a dvd… I’m halfway through Pride and Prejudice (the Colin Firth one) and it’s due back at the library tomorrow. Not bad, though I never read the books, but I’m enjoying the movie. Plus the eye candy.

I just need to decide what knitting to work on while I watch it. The silk shawl or the green gable’s top? Or do I just go back to playing Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations and ignore the movie?

Hmm

Morning all. Busy day ahead of me. HRH is none the worse for her dented head and is running round the house yelling, “Bombombommobmobom!” Yeah, it makes exactly NO sense, but it’s still cute!

rigs, I thought kids under the age of 6 needed the fats in full-cream milk for their development? Or is that just kids under the age of 2? I dunno, I just don’t get why you would try to explain away your cheapness at “stretching” milk based on ridiculous theories of empty calories and fluoride intake. And why would a kid under the age of 12 even want to drink low-fat milk???

I’m babbling - not enough caffeine yet!
