A (M)ad Lib MMP

Worked all day. went to Wally World for essential(beer, Alpo, Prilosec). Nelly hornked on the comforter again. Off tomorrow?

Haze,I’ll join the pile on with rigs.If he’s not the one, I’m still available for a greencard marriage.

:rocks Gnat to sleep :

Cite? (Hey the night shift is falling down on the job, somebody’s gotta do it!)

What pattern are you using for the silk shawl, flutters? I just finally found a birds-eye pattern that I can actually succeed in working, so I’m trying a bamboo shawl in it. It’s always fun to succeed at a new pattern, and to watch the little circles appear!

Sorry, doggio, I may be slutty but I don’t do the “flash the paparazzi” thang so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Well, I do sometimes flash the SO but that’s different–he likes it!

So, we went to watch the middle schoolers perform “The Tempest,” and they were great! It helps that Grandkid goes to a performing arts magnet school so the kids are very much on the performance track and take it very seriously. The kid playing Prospero was phenomenal, excellent projection and must have a memory like a steel trap. Ariel was also excellent, she’s obviously done quite a bit of dance and they had her miked with some voice effects that worked really well. There were no flubbed lines or assing off, the sets were really well done (Grandkid worked on them in class–he’s taking a Stagecraft elective this semester) and the costuming was top notch. All in all, a very well spent five bucks, glad we went.

The weather was gorgeous today, 70 degrees and clear, dogwoods in bloom, just a great day to be alive.

Eek, my kitty is snoring right behind my ear and is obviously dreaming of eating because he’s making these weird squeaky squishy nomnom noises! Ick, he’s probably drooling on my couch, too. Old tomcats are gross!

Just think, rigs, pretty soon all those in-laws will be out-laws and you won’t have to deal with them at all if you don’t want to! See, whoever said divorce is a tragedy wasn’t thinking straight. Oh, and arsenic is way too slow–nux vomica is the ticket…

Dotty, glad to hear Ms Dentyhead is all okay today–isn’t it nice that they’re made of silly putty and superball stuff? Bouncy bouncy!

McUne, a self portrait a day? I’d get much too sick of my subject long before the year was out–besides, I don’t think I photograph all that well, although the pics of me I like best tend to be the ones I take, go figure.

G’night, all!

The pattern I’m using is actually part of a club (the first kit from Year of Lace). It’s called Phoenix Rising by Sivia Harding. This is what I’ve done so far. I need to do 4 more body repeats, then the edging. I hope I’ll have enough (there’s been a few people who’ve already finished that just barely did).

What I ended up doing was ripping out Green Gable and casting on again. My gauge was way off, because I am using a different yarn but I figured out what to cast on and now I’m going to wing it and see how it goes. It’s a top down raglan, so it won’t be too hard to adjust as I go (I hope). This is what I ripped out. I only have a couple rows now, but the neck looks a lot neater so I think it was a good decision.

Drive by…

**Rigs *– stupid and crazy is an inflammable combination; do not insert hand!

More good thoughts going your way, Haze… I’m sure it’s all completely crazy in your mind right now; the others are right – take a few months away after all, and revisit the whole quandary then. Good luck!

Everybody else… later gators! Vrooooooom!!!

  • I refuse to use “flammable.” It’s a stupid word invented for stupid people.

LiLi, glad you enjoyed the hakka. Did you manage to sweet-talk them into waiving the delivery fee given that it’s one eensy-weensy block east of the boundary? They seemed to be really lovely people when I went, so I’d be disappointed if they went all delivery nazi on you. Hope **tnc ** finally made it to sleep, too.

Flutter, Colin Firth sure does look dreamy in a starchy Regency kind of way, doesn’t he? I had such an adolescent crush on Mr Darcy when I read P&P back in high school. He’s since been replaced in my affections, but I still have a lingering fondness for him. Also, I have massive envy of your WIPs… they’re seriously gorgeous (especially the shawl… drool drool drool)

It’s 6:30. On a Sunday. And I’m at WORK. And they just RAN OUT OF COFFEE.

WAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. :frowning: I wanna go home.

I agreed to the delivery fee. They were really apologetic about it, and I didn’t argue. Whatever. It was still about the price of crappy Chinese food, and really really good. Next time we’re getting more ginger beef. I just wish I could find a Vietnamese place that delivered, too.
Grr. Armwrestled the baby into sleeping by ten, and now we’re up at seven. Must invest in opiates.

Pride and Prejudice is wonderful, both book and movie. The BBC production is my favourite. The slothes are wonderful. I love good costuming.

Oh, yeah- we woke up about 2:30 to the sound of a fight happening outside, with a crowd of 20-30 teenagers, and screams of, ‘you’re hurting her!’, and 'fuck you, fight!! and lots of other stupidness. Mr. Lissar called the cops, and went out to see if anyone was needing an ambulance. The whole thing took an hour or so to disperse. I think we’ll be staying home today, and everyone sleeping lots.

Is it legal for them to run out of coffee???

::Waves at SO::

Pretty knitting flutter.

Sounds like a cool performance, Smarty.

I’m awake. Going plant hunting this morning. Yay!

Off to sort laundry for later…oh and to breakfast…

GT

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. The <snerk> butts <snerk> are in the slow cooker to warm up and get tenderized. I need to get in gear and get purtified for churchification.

BioTigs if ya hurry you’ll make it here by 12:30.

I know, gt. My corporate overlords are cruel and heartless.

I’m seriously considering organizing a mutiny and holding the systems hostage until someone produces coffee. There’s a dirty rumour flying around that a fresh supply should be along before 8:30am, though… so I’ll just need to keep slapping myself awake for another hour or so and keep my ears open for the sounds of various IT personel stampeding towards fresh coffee and breakfasty type foods.

LiLi, the other dirty rumours I’ve heard lately involve a little Vietnamese joint in the east end that delivers, but they are currently unconfirmed. I will live up to my role as tipper-offer of good delivery food by letting you know as soon as I know (and have tested out the quality personally, of course).

::reconsiders plant-shopping plans and starts to check flights to Jawja::

Heh. swampy said “butt” again. Heh.

2:30 a.m. fight wake-up sounds like no fun, LiLi. Hope today is quiet and relaxing.

GT

I’m awake!

Yesterday was a personally crappy one for me so my apologies for those who felt the fallout. (And you know who you are.)

Today is better, though. It’s still early but I’m planning my trek back to Akron pretty soon so that I can hopefully get some stuff done. We’re going out of town next weekend (and I’m going to meet** GT**!) and I need to get alot done before that. Especially if I want to get my takeout operations launched the day after I come back.

We went to our friends’ leaving party last night as they’re emigrating on Wednesday to eastern Europe. Big turnout, lots of fun but since they started at 5pm in the Rococo Lounge, we didn’t manage to fit in a proper meal. Not a problem for me because I was mostly drinking diet coke all night until we moved on to the Tap & Spile and I decided a little vodka was in order…but 'im indoors is still sleeping off the effects of not enough food and more than enough Adnam’s Broadside.

Looks like a quiet day over here then, and no help on the domestic front again.

I’m off to Mass to be de-hethenated, then laundry. Hopefully I’ll be off to day.

For two seconds I was like “REALLY?! Let’s get dinner!”

Then I remembered what day it was.
Your resident sinner,

But arsenic causes pain and lingering. <need beastly evil smiley here>
I had a horrible dream that I suppose was a nightmare-- I woke up crying. I was at work and felt something IN my leg move. I asked a doc I’ve known for 20+ years to look at my leg. I had this squishy ball, larger than a grape–kiwi sized that I could more around under the skin. There was even a socket I could put it into to. All this on a my very ordinary but slightly chubby thigh. And then I found another ball in my knee. The doc (general surgeon) said I had to have emergency surgery to remove these “pus pockets”. I was sent to CT where they found my body riddled with them. I went to OR and they ended up intubating me and I awoke in ICU on a ventilator, helpless. Then I woke up crying. There was more, but it on the order of which doctors I had (which would mean nothing if you didn’t know them). Suffice to say I got good care, so that was good, I guess.

anyone want to take a stab at WTH all that means?

And now I have to go dig a trench because all the wet this winter destroyed half of my dry creek bed.

Dotty–thought here is that kids need whole milk until age 2. Mine were switched to skim (by me) at that point. Her kids drink 1%. Me, I’d probably try to introduce other fluids like juice or skim milk or --crazy here-water. They’re 5 and 6. More than old enough to enjoy other fluid sources (and only one year away from belly shots! I kid). I would have exposed them to other drinks at an earlier age, but that’s just me. I doubt she’s trying to save money–it’s more a point of pride with her to pay full price, if you follow me. Cutting milk or clipping coupons is just not done. There are not enough of those for all the stories I could tell.

sulks in a corner muttering about how dandelions aren’t weeds because they’re pretty and edible and darn tasty

How you doin’?

I just heard an echo of Jack D. Ripper muttering about “precious bodily fluids” for some reason.

Negative Lady* at Archivin’ work brought in a chocolate cake this past week. (She is great! Bring us the chocolate cake!) I asked for and recieved the recipe for her cream cheese-whipped cream icing. Does anyone want to join me in making sure I wrote it down right? It’s an excuse to make chocolate cake! If signs say yes, I’ll put up the recipe as she told me and we can try it. (I don’t think it’s blog-ready yet which is why I propose it as a challenge.)

(*So called because she works on the negatives collections. She’s actually a pretty chipper person.)

Yeah, kids aren’t supposed to drink skim milk when they’re little. Skim milk is gross anyway.

Ooh, rigs. that’s awful. I had a horrible dream a few years ago about my arms being infested with grubs or something. It was terrible. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it.

We’re not de-heathening today due to post-prom (they were all dressed up) idiocy and baby sleep. Next week. doggio can de-heathenate for us.

Joins Spaz in corner, muttering that skim milk is delicious and it’s whole milk that is vile…

Jesus. I either need sex or glasses (or sex with glasses–huh?) I read that as “We’re not de-heathering today, due to post-porn idiocy.”

I thought Canadians were mild mannered.

Good morning everyone! I’m up and waiting for the coffee to finish brewing.

I was um…“woken up” by my husband, and after we decided to just get up.

We don’t have any big plans today, just yard work. My back yard looks awful and requires a lot of work.

My kids and husband drink skim milk. I do not drink milk, I hate it. The husband and kids have been drinking skim milk for years. In fact, my daughter hates whole milk; she calls it “chunky milk”.

Milk was ruined for me when I was a kid. The milk in the school cafeteria was always warm and that just gagged me. To this day, I just cannot stand it. I forced myself to drink it while pregnant, but haven’t since then. I can eat a bowl of cereal, cook with it, etc., but to drink it just makes me want to hurl.
