Not mine. We live on a fairly busy street, so the tasty edible dandelions would be full of various nasty chemicals from exhaust fumes.
It’s too bad… some of those tap-roots were upwards of 8" long! waits for the inevitable jokes
Coffee and breakfast arrived around 9am. I scarfed down a Tim Horton’s breakfast sandwich because I was starving, and am now regretting it thoroughly. It consists of a biscuit (fat) with egg (fat), bacon (fat) and processed cheese (more fat) in the middle. I also suspect that they buttered the biscuit, just in case those four mouthfuls sans butter weren’t enough to use up my entire daily fat and sodium quota.
Hurk. Lunch better not be pizza, or else I’ll be revisiting the concept of mutiny.
I had a banana for breakfast. Your breakfast sandwich sounds better though.
Ok, Celine Dion looks freaky to me (and I don’t equate wailing with singing) but her son looks very uncomfortable in that photo and also, his hair is a bit much. If HE wants it that way, I’m fine. If she wants her son to look ambiguously androgynous, I’m not. Bottom line: having Celine Dion for a mother IS child abuse. ![]()
Love your advice.
[DEL]Spaz, I didn’t know how to work your link.[/DEL]

Also: banananananananana
Funny word.
That’s a *boy * with Celine Dion?! Even the shirt he’s wearing looks like something a little girl would wear.
Spaz! Post the recipe!!!
Morning, all. Grey, gloomy, and wet here. I slept badly. It’s starting off to be a less-than-favorite day. I need some more sunshine.
Plus Papa Tigs is seriously cranky today. I think I’m going to lay low in my office and work. Heaven knows I’ve got mountains of it to do.
Rusty was a BIG help last night when I was putting my computer back together after I finally got it back from Steve the Affordable Computer Repair Guy. That stoopid dog decided to lay down right behind my chair, which was barely pushed out far enough for me to crawl under my desk to hook things up. At least it’s all working fine. No thanks to the idiot dog. You think cats can get in the way? Try 80 lbs of inert lump of dog!
Off to eat something. And work. And caffeinate some more.
Spaz, your linky no worky for me!
:smack: Never mind - my intarwebs playin’ silly-buggers with me!
Thanks Muppet and Traveler. I like knitting, it’s my way of relaxing. Plus I can’t just watch tv or anything, Grandma got me in the habit of always having something in my hands while I was watching (knitting, crochet, cross-stitch… didn’t matter as long as it was constructive).
I liked Pride and Prejudice. It was my first time watching it. Maybe I should borrow the book to actually read it. I’m working my way through Jane Eyre right now (well, that and a few others, I always have several on the go).
Mm Caffeine… I need to shower then do some cleaning and baking and to the library today!
I have yet to tackle the dry creek bed. gah.
I love Jane Eyre. But P & P holds a special place in my heart. (as does Colin Firth, of course).
The recipe in question:
1 large + 1 small carton of Cool Whip (Negative Lady recommended the small be french vanilla)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar
1 package of cream cheese
I don’t know if I got the proportion of cream cheese right, but that’s what the MMP Test Kitchen is for!
Uhh… I’m missing something.What does that make?
It makes frosting, Li-Li.
I’m going out to tackle the weeds in my garden and yard in the next few minutes.
I’m am NOT looking forward to this.
Cool Whip? COOL WHIP??? We don’t need no stinkin’ Cool Whip.
Seriously, if I’m going to go through the hassle of making frosting, I’ll use proper whipped cream and damned be the calories. It’s not like the sugar and cream cheese aren’t already contributing plenty of caloriffic goodness on their own, no?
Hi, gang!! I’m in Flahduh!!
Yesterday, I woke up around 4 and decided it was dumb to try to sleep another 40 minutes or so, so I packed up and was on the road just before 5. I got to my friends’ house just before the next 5. Then this morning, I woke up around 4 again. I am pooped!! But I got to the kid’s place about 11 and we unpacked the van. Then we went to lunch. She’s napping now and I need to get my sheets out of the washer - apparently there was a drunkex here the other night and some unknown being was sleeping on my floor mattress. So I decided to wash the sheets.
I was also informed that tonight is another rasslin’ PPV night. Swell. So I won’t be getting sleep till at least 11, I fear.
And as if there aren’t enough things going on - the guy who was going to be the officiant at their wedding is being transferred to the west coast that very weekend so he can’t do it! One week before the wedding, and the need to find someone to witness it. GAH! Last resort is my BIL the minister, but the kids absolutely don’t want a fundie ceremony, and that’s what he’d make it.
First they lost their DJ and had to replace him. Then they lost their photographer and had to replace her. Now this. They shoulda listened to me and eloped. Sheesh!
Anyway, I’m here, safe and tired. Today we chill, the rest of the week, we’ll be mega-busy. And I’ll still do the OP tomorrow unless someone else wants it. I’ll have plenty of time tonight to figger one out.
Glad you made it in one piece, FCM.
{{{Haze}}} - I’m wishing you good thoughts and calm decision making.
Y’all were talking about your Tennessee friend talkin’ Southern? Everytime I say pie my husband makes fun of me. He says I sound like ah’m sayin’ pah. I jes don’ unnerstand that boy, I tell ya… I made a French Silk Pie for my dad’s birthday and we’re still eatin’ on it.
But next dessert in line is Lesbian Gingerbread. 'Cept I couldn’t find golden syrup at Kroger, so I’ll make a trip to HEB. They have lots of imported type stuff there. I did get the Girradeli (or however you spell it) semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Except for going to the grocery store, I’ve been chillin’ most of the day. But I’m about to get up and make meatballs and spaghetti sauce, and simmer some stew meat for later in the week. I bought a big pot roast on sale and cut up half of it for stew. I’m frugal like that.
(Ssh! I bought ground turkey for the sketti sauce - they’ll never know it! But the meatballs must be beef, cuz I said so.)
Rebo’s Meatballs
1 lb ground beef
(about) 1/2 c fresh breadcrumbs (I usually use the food processor - 1-2 slices of sandwich bread, or some leftover french bread)
2 egg yolks
1 tbs chopped parsley
3 tbs minced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 c grated parmesan
1/2 tsp dried basil
salt and pepper
Mix together, and form into meatballs about 1-1/2 inch diameter. Brown in olive oil. Drain on paper towels. Burn fingers tasting a meatball. Take pity on the dogs and split a couple up between them. Give one to Dad. Give one to husband. Eat one more, then dump them in the spaghetti sauce. Yum!
See y’all in the new MMP.
Rebo the meatballs sound like teh yum! I think MCUNE needs to post it in the Blog exactly the way you wrote it.
Spaz may Miss Pauline AKA Dear Abby continue to get you p.o.ed. It amuses me when she does.
Lunch is over. Everybody’s gone. Stuff is all put away. WHEW! We ate. We drank. We made merry. A good time was had by all. LiLi I just emailed the recipe for Easiest Cake to four people. I got a feelin’ that cake will be poppin’ up all over southwest Jawja soon. It is truly a wunnerful cake for strawberry shortcake.
I’s kinda buzzed but not dukrn. Also tahred. Think I’ll go snoop around a bit.
Later Y’all!
Mmm Those look yummy Dottie.
I actually decided to make my own meatballs today. I’ll throw them together once I’m back from the library.
Here’s my recipe:
Porcupines
Meatballs:
1 package each lean hamburger and ground pork
3/4 cup of rice (cooked or if you have minute rice uncooked is fine)
1 onion, chopped
paprika
poultry seasoning
garlic powder
worchestershire sauce
Sauce:
plain tomato sauce
worchestershire sauce
1/2 cup water
Mix all the ingredients for the meatballs in a bowl. If the rice is uncooked, add some water to this also. For measurements of the spices I use a few dashes of the worchestershire and just liberally sprinkle in everything else (I don’t measure, they always turn out fine). Roll the mix into meatballs about 1" in diameter and place in a baking dish (we have these). Mix together tomato sauce, worchestershire sauce and water. Pour over meatballs (it should pretty much cover the meatballs, you can thin it a little more with water or add more tomato sauce if you don’t have enough).
Bake for about 45 minutes in an oven at 400F. You could also put these in a crock pot to cook and I don’t always use the pork but I like how it tastes.
We serve it up with pasta and lots of veggies (mm I have brocolli today…) and they make lots so I freeze them and can usually get a few meals out of it.
