A Melancholy MMP

Ok, I’ll do it. I used to rollerskate to the song when I was 13. Ah, youth…

Oh no! I just remembered while I was in the shower that I forgot to wave to** gt** in my big post.

Sorry, gt.

:BIG body wave, blowing a kiss and sending a hug to gt:
Haze, got it. Thanks.
:wiping other images from my head:

Another break. SIL has gone to work, and **FCD ** and I have nearly finished the bedroom - we have one full sheet and a few partial sheets and it’ll be done. So tomorrow, I can start mudding. rah!

I think I may get SIL started painting trim and doors. I think I can trust him to paint. Maybe. He complains about how hard he works, but us oldsters outlast him every time. He’s a wuss.

Watch out everybody, Roo’s on a roll this morning! like all the rest of the hotdogs, heh heh

I wanna hot naked man massage too! Dopefest!

Thanks, Haze, a friend and I were driving ourselves nuts trying to remember that guy’s name the other day… Oh, and if/when you eat your student’s brains, could you make sure somebody YouTube’s a clip of it so we can all enjoy it? Thx doll!

Such a buncha lushes in this place, tsk tsk… heck I haven’t had a thing to drink at all this weekend and all that BIG RED TYPE is giving me a headache, must be real fun for all the Drunky McDrunkersons up in here…

BooFae, fennel vodka, really? Ick shudder

Nooner, not to wax too philosophical here but I figure any place that has people in it is probably tending toward the dangerous… :smack:

Dang, now I really want some pho…

Since I am here way too seldom lately to truly catch up and be involved, I have resolved that until work settles down (and my mom leaves town) that I will simply drive by a lot.

Like this…

The wedding last night was a blast. Kind of a fancy picnic with good food, free beer and bug spray all around. Later, another couple came by our house and we made yet another attempt to finish off the leftover beer in the beer fridge.

On today’s schedule: lying about for a bit, cleaning up to go to a wake for a 96 year old woman I never met, then off to get pizza.

Hello everyone.

We’ve returned from coast. The wedding was uh…blustery. Although the sun was out, it was most definitely windy on the beach. The bride and groom were late to their own wedding, mainly because they couldn’t find the damn thing.

Hubby and I were staying in a hotel about two doors down from where the invitation stated the wedding would be held. After we checked in to our hotel, we changed and made our way over the place. When we asked about it, they told that we had to actually drive out onto the beach. So, we walked back to our rig, found the access road to the beach, and drove down it.

We finally noticed a little flower wrapped arbor with some tiki torches making a path up each side leading to it. We found it, but until about 5:30, we were the only ones who had found it. The ceremony was supposed to start at five, by the way. We were desparately trying to call the groom, but couldn’t reach him. Anyway, there we stood in our nice clothes with the wind trying to knock us down. Thankfully, the ceremony was fairly brief.

After the ceremony, we drove back to our hotel, the hubby changed clothes, and I tried to fix my hair again. We then drove down to where the reception was being held. They had a very nice buffet set up. There was kahlua pork, teriyaki chicken, various salads, salmon, asparagus, rice, rolls and pineapple upside down cake. I didn’t try the salmon (I’m picky about my seafood), but the kahlua pork was pretty good. There was no alcohol, but we toasted the bride and groom with sparkling cider.

We stayed for the toasts, the food, and a slice of wedding cake. After that, we went back to our hotel where I changed out of my dress into some jeans and a blouse and headed to the bar and grill right next to our hotel. Our niece and her boyfriend met us there for drinks. We spent the evening chatting and drinking. I must say I was quite buzzed. The manager of the place was making our drinks and chatting with us and she did not hold back on the booze. My rum and cokes were pretty light colored! After that we headed back to our room, had some mutual appreciation of each other and fell asleep.

We woke up this morning, cleaned up, stopped at the bar and grill for breakfast, and headed home.

We came home to find our dog had gotten into the garbage…AGAIN…and strewn it all about the downstairs. Sigh…I don’t know why he does that. My daughter is gone, so I don’t know if the garbage was there when she left this morning. My son is still in bed, although I told him to haul his ass out of bed.

Soapy, sending best well wishes to your father for a speedy recovery.

rigs, your yard and garden look lovely and restful. Kind of natural and easy going, but elegant too. I like it. I don’t like overly formal looks.

Hm, I’m thirsty. I’m going to get me big bottle of water. I’ve been feeling a little dehydrated.

Aaaaaand we’ve quit for the day. By my admittedly rough calculations, we labored at least 6 hours today. **FCD ** and I loaded 12 sheets of 12’ sheetrock on to the trailer, then unloaded them from the trailer to the basement. SIL helped us carry one. Thank goodness for the panel lift we rented - there’s no way we could have gotten done as much as we did today. We’ll have to rent it again to finish the ceilings - maybe next weekend?

Tomorrow, I’ll start mudding in the closet. I figure it’s as good a place as any to practice. I’m supposed to teach SIL how to do it - we’ll see how that goes.

So, whose turn is it to give me a foot rub?

Deheathenated, brunchified and restocked (well, with stuff for the room and a new vacuum).

Off to finish cleaning and start painting.

Back later…

GT

Thank you,** Taters**-- I bitch about it a lot, but I love my garden. It’s cheaper therapy for me…

ATTENTION:
RUN, DO NOT WALK, TO THE NEAREST THEATER AND SEE “MAMA MIA”!

or you’ll regret it. I needed that. I now have a sinus headache, though–ugh. Weather is changing. Ima buy the soundtrack tomorrow and listen to it while I make bread. Yay!

FCM: aren’t they all wusses? I am not anti-young folk, but seriously, I outlast them on practically every task or project. I think they truly don’t know just how much time and effort things take. This only comes with experience, so cut him a break. He’s got a job and he’s living with his inlaws. Whaddayagonnado…

rigs, I know he’s in a stressful situation. But doggone, if a 32-y/o man can’t keep up with an overweight, hypertensive 54-y/o woman, he has no right to whine. And while I’m glad he’s got a job that he likes, I work a 40-hour week, come home and make dinner, and I still spend my weekend laboring on *his * future apartment. He gets 25-30 hours a week (just started a week ago) and it hasn’t yet occurred to him to volunteer to mow the lawn on the damned riding mower!!

I’m sorry. No more. I need ice cream…

Living room is a disaster. Going through stuff for a rummage sale that we are going to have.

Mother in law came over to learn how to make cards. She made 5 and I made four. Was fun.

Hubby and I are going to go and get some ice cream, I think.

We went for a bike ride too. Got a new bike yesterday. I am so out of shape. It’s crap. Going to get a bit back in shape. Was fun though, might go out again this evening.

I have been a slug all day. That is all I have to report.

You’re really on a roll, aren’t you? Are you a hamburger or a hot dog?

**Haze **-- if you need help sampling health spas, I’ll join you in your quest. (I’m safe from your appetite. No brains to devour, here! :D)

**McUne **-- sounds like you had fun!

Aleq – I think guns and humans don’t mix well… :smack:

Really should get some more work done, but I think I’ll call it a night (1 AM. Yes, I know I’m crazy… 2 more weeks of this shit and I’m off on vacation for 2 weeks!)

Me, too, when I wasn’t in the bathroom. Ugh! I shall never drink cheap bourbon again! Mr Rebo didn’t even have a hangover, and he drank as much as me! ::grumble::

I did manage to get to the grocery store and put them away, however. Dinner was gonna be spaghetti and meatballs, but that’s too much work. Maybe poke chops and mashed NOT.

FCM - kids today! I know, I have a long-term slacker. At least he’s not living with us…

Haze - that was hilarious!

That’s all I can remember. I suppose I should go start supper. Mr Rebo has worked his butt off all afternoon putting up drywall around the new door. He needs some sustenance.

We’re home! Nat was a darling on the way in, and terrible on the way home. We have drunk much wine, he’s got a jolly jumper (courtesy of doting grandparents), and we had a fabulous time. We viisted their house (they’re staying in a townhouse while their new house is bing built) which faces onto Lake Ontario, and I’m a bad, bad person, because I couldn’t help thinking, “In thirty years I might inherit this.”
The new house is perfect. Library, pool and hot tub, beautiful kitchen, view of the lake from almost every window. Perfect. Pool table. Huge bathrooms.

We’re visiting them even more after it’s finished in October.

We bought wine and cider.

It was good.

Are your in-laws interested in adopting, LiLi? Cuz that sounds seriously wonderful. Cheered me right up.

The walls are incredibly clean. Just about everything is patched. (I discovered a couple of places that needed to be patched while I was cleaning.) I am madly taping stuff off and hoping to be priming the water spot and a couple of other little spots within the hour.

Can someone remind me what the heck I did for headgear the last time I painted (9 years ago just before I moved in here)? I’m thinking I might cut up an old t-shirt and use it as a bandana. Also, I need to remember to wear different glasses while I’m painting.

Back to the salt mines.

GT

Howdy. I did meatball subs and tossed salad for dinner. Not too bad, maybe a little more sause next time. Tomorrow is back to the old salt mines.

LiLi, glad Nat was good half of the trip. Sounds like a neat house.

Taters, sounds like the reception made up for the wedding.

I’s back.

Trip downstate was stressful as always. Baby is getting cuter, but it is spoiled rotten. Cute at 20 months, will not be cute at 20 years.

I have two major projects at the house going on currently. One is to make order out of the chaos that is our filing system. You see, we haven’t filed. At all. So, over the last several days, I have been going through stacks of old stuff, shredding what is needed, and filing the rest. I am about 3/4 done so that should be good. Then I will see out of what I keep, what I really need to keep.

The other project is to go through all of our CDs, both game and otherwise, and create a database. The music CDs will be copied onto the computer. The game CDs will be logged and either put into cd sleeves or filed.

This is not a small project, as you can guess, but when it’s done, it’ll be good - we’ll have all of the CD keys, etc., in one place.

Back to the grind tomorrow. I haven’t forgotten it’s my MMP!

See ya then!

You know what I hate? I hate when people thread shit.
somuchforthat

I just do.

That is all.

Yeah, gotta wonder about people sometimes, rigs. Ummmm…I don’t think it’s supposed to have a brilliant plot as it’s a vehicle for the music. :smack:  As I said in your thread, I’m dying to see this, but don’t know when I’m going to get the chance, since the immediate future appears to consist of PAINTING. Woo. hoo. Have I mentioned exactly how much I [sub]don’t[/sub] love painting? Actually, it’s the prep that gets to me.

Yanno, I’m not sure that people think about the part where a spoil 20-year-old will result from that spoiled 2-year-old, Meeks. I thinks people sometimes think kids will automatically grow up tolerable without any steering. Also: Can you come over and organize my stuff when you’re done organizing yours? (I’m overdue for shredding and filing and don’t seem to be getting anywhere near it. Did I mention paint?)

Everything (well, almost everything) is taped off and otherwise protected. I made it to about 2/3 or the ceiling. Should be able to get the rest of the ceiling and the walls done quickly tomorrow night. I’m hoping I don’t have to do a second coat. Went for a walk to cool down and stretch some and am hoping to be sleepy soon…

See everyone in the next MMP!
