bobbio, I think the bald head gives you a Bruce Willis look.
pie, I’ve been reading up on it and I’m hoping it will resolve some neck issues I’ve been having as well as the balance thing. I sure hope my insurance is going to pay for this. Oh, and good for Gizmo scaring of the baddies.
doggio, did they send you to rehab?
Yay for New York, boofae. I can’t wait to hear your take on it.
When we lived in Indiannoplace, the garage door being open was a regular occurence. VWife would accuse me of being lazy/stupid/scatterbrained for leaving it up; I knew I was conscienciously closing it.
'Twas soon apparent what the problem was. Being a garage and all, spiders would come in from the outside and build webs along the bottom of the door. Leaves would blow in, get caught in the webs, and break the beam of the *%$#@ing mandatory electric eye, and the door would reverse. Since I had pushed the button and left, I was usually oblivious to what had happened.
I had to take a broom to the garage door about once every other week to keep the dangley stuff in check. I ultimately solved the problem for good by losing my job and moving to Virginia.
ETA: Normal crappy weather for the VunderLair tonight and tomorrow. Even the Outer Backs will get just elevated winds and rough surf, so Danny is a fizzle for us. Good luck to those in Delawhere? and Taxachussets…
We’re only on page 3 on a Firday?? Why aren’t we our usual chatty selves this week?
Too bad about the buffalo farm, pugs. There’s a yak farm somewhere around here that seems like it’d be fun to visit. (We’ve eaten some of the yak at the Tibetan place, and I know it’s locally sourced, but I don’t exactly know where the yak farm is.)
Did I mention early in the week (too lazy to go back and look) that I got billed for someone else’s medical treatment? I got a bill for Xrays and radiology that I certainly never had at a clinic that’s probably well over an hour away. I called the ins company on Monday, and they said they’d take care of it, and they may be, but I still got the HRA money in my account yesterday and the bill from the clinic yesterday. That could be just because the bill was mailed before the reversal got in place, but I still think I’m going to call the clinic directly to try to straighten this out this afternoon. Yippee.
Oh, I tried. There isn’t even an Options menu. The extremely unhelpful help is as bad as SAP’s. According to people in a couple of forums where I asked, there is no workaround.
I did find the lists where it indicates which extensions correspond to which programs (and Open Office is listed), but taking .xls out of excel and .doc out of msword and putting them under OO doesn’t work (I plan on tweaking things some more just out of stubbornness). Oh, and it lists .doc under “Microsoft Word 2000-2003”, which makes me wonder whether it will also refuse to open those files when you happen to have 2007 (and you’ll have to resave them as .docx).
Mr. Lissar’s still sick but better, and Attacks Husband called this morning from the E.R. to say he was there with acute abdominal pain. They didn’t find anything wrong with him at the hospital, but it’s been a busy and tense morning.
And my Dad either has Parkinson’s or a near cousin of it. He’ll be going on Parkinson’s treatment shortly, and we’ll see if he responds.
Is that a typo (and you meant MS Office) – or is there a specific entry for each component of Office (in which case you should take .xls out of Excel)?
Betting on the former (both in terms of what makes sense and in terms of you knowing better :),) but just in case…
More likely there’s just another place where you have to make the changes all over again
Or, I wonder if removing .xls completely from those lists may cause The Program to consult the Operating System as to how to open the files? (And I’ll assume you’ve set Windows to use OpenOffice for all MSOffice suffixes) Of course if there’s that other list you have to update as well…
I wouldn’t save a 2007 doc as “*.doc” just like that anyway – either I’d Save As… (Word 2003) or i’d leave the .docx suffix alone – so hopefully you’ll be OK here.
**Dotty **-- Yeesh! And during Ramadan yet, just so it’s easier to fast…
My neighbor, the ICU nurse, said it sounds like swine flu. My doctor said it sounds like swine flu. So, I’m about to stagger to the pharmacy for Tamiflu and cross all available appendages that it works as we both feel like utter crap.
Home. I left an hour early, but I had to stop and get dog and cat food and a few other things, then I stopped at the Amish market for some cucumbers and a humongo canteloup. I’ve got some raisin bran muffins in the new little oven - I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter. Hope it’s good.
**FCD **and I are alone for supper but I don’t know if either of us wants to eat. We shall see.
**Bobbio **- an idiot at work kept trying to tell me that Danny was going to go right over the outer banks, then up the Potomac. I tried to point out that the center of the track is several hundred miles offshore and the “red all over the OB” was probably wind and waves warning. Nope, she was having none of it. I was wrong and she was right. Whatevah. I just hope we get some rain from the storm - any storm.
I hope to be a total slug tomorrow till we have to go to the cookout (which will happen even if it rains.) I see a day of knitting. And relaxing. And little else. YAY!
No, it’s not a typo unless you’re going to nitpick my caps. They have individual entries.
I think I’ll try opening them in OO and saving them with OO format, see if it recognizes them then…
TADAAAA!
That worked
And it’s translation software. I still haven’t found a translation software that was worth the plastic of the DVD it came on… and this one isn’t even sold on DVD.
I’ve been working on tidying up and have managed to shower and make myself presentable.
My friend is coming over in a bit to bring her visiting niece from Germany and niece’s friend to hang out with my son. The girls are about 15 or 16 and completely boy crazy. It’ll be interesting see how my son handles it. He’s trying to play it all cool, but I noticed that he completely cleaned up his bedroom and is now scrubbing his and my daughter’s bathroom. Works for me!
I’m going to have to go out in a little bit and take him to the credit union to deposit his check and also reschedule his driver’s ed final test drive. The instructor was sick, so he was asked to reschedule.
I also need to pick up something to drink. All we have is water and milk. The kids just flew through the soda I had here.
gotti, I’m sorry you’re feeling so poorly. I really hope you get to feeling better soon.
Well, so far, I’ve learned that Tamiflu is really scarce. Had to call five pharmacies to find about 80% of the amount needed. I have to go back on Monday to get the rest of it.
Meanwhile, it’s about 102 outside and 102 inside my body. Not a pleasant combination, even with air conditioning.
