A Murderously Fun MMP

Hope you and Noor feel better soon, Dotty. Poor baby. :frowning:

RE the lawyer thing: my husband’s halfway through school, so I mostly know what I am getting into (mostly). I’m shooting for an internship next summer at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

Yeesh, my brownies are taking for-EV-er! Need midnight chocolatey snacks now!

doggio, I think I’ll take a pass on sniffing Sharpie markers. You’re still young, but I already have too many dead brain cells. Thanks, though.

Special1, you made it. Ok, I can go to bed now. I think swampy’s AWOL tonight.

Dare I ask how you pulled your back muscle? Does it need a good massage? Or was that the cause? I hope it feels better soon. Do you have those heat pack things where you are? I gave one to my pastor and he said it worked.

Good night! ~waving~

One beer too many?

Truth is I’m not sure. Maybe while running in the evening – I usually go to the gym (2-3 times a week), work out, and then run on one of the machines there. Yesterday I didn’t have time for a full routine, so I went out running in the streets; maybe I hit the sidewalk wrong at some point.

Ooh, yes, please!!

No, but I like your way of thinking

Yeah, I wish. Only about 14 hours to go… :stuck_out_tongue:
You have a good night though, yourself

: pokes head into thread:

Hello! Anyone home?

Special1, I think you killed the MMP!!!

Nah, just put some sleeping pills in all the Americans’ nightcaps

They’re all still snoring over there, I think. Not sure where Nava and BooFae are, however

How’s Noor?

McUne, I know the Great Lakes are big enough for waves, but if you ever have kids, you should take them to the beach when they’re about 5.

Learning that there is bitter water in this world is an interesting, if unpleasant moment. But what I love is seeing the look in their faces when they stare at the waves go in… and out… and in… and out… and then when they discover the tiny holes that open in the sand as the wave leaves (from small molluscs)… my little brother said “but… what color is it? It’s, it’s, it’s not *a * color!” (and he’s the non-artistic one in the family)

Some kids react in terror; most are absolutely fascinated and can stare at it for hours. I’ve seen mothers lather sunscreen on a squatting kid who was stock still except for letting her raise first one arm, then the other, to apply underneath. When the mother made him stand so she could apply it on the back of the legs, the kid would always resist but suffer the lathering once it was clear he could go back to staring as soon as the sacrificial oils had been applied.

Sorry, Special1, this “work three days a week schedule” has as a side benefit that I actually get gasp work to do most of the time.

Poor thing, you! :stuck_out_tongue:

I think you need some comforting, right?

Hello again. Hubby is home from work early, in time to watch Bahrain and Saudi playing football (Asian Cup again, still!) Noor is still exploding and leaking her way through everything I have dressed her in today - 4 outfits so far, and it’s not even 2pm yet! I have therefore given up on clothes altogether and left her in a nappy and a cotton vest - it’s not like we’re expecting company.

Doctor says the test results show it’s not rotavirus, but no signs of bacterial infection, so it must be some other kind of viral gastroenteritis. Sigh … Doctor also says Noor needs to have formula (otherwise she’s not getting enough nutrition), but recommends changing her to Nutramigen or Nestle AL110 for a couple of weeks until her tummy and bowel settle down. I think both those formulas are lactose-free, hence the recommendation.

The top event for today however was the telephone call from my mother-in-law, who blamed me for Noor’s gastro, on the basis that if I didn’t drag her around the countryside (like to the shopping mall, the supermarket or my friend’s house), then Noor wouldn’t have caught this! I told her that even if I hadn’t taken Noor, I would still have been in those places and potentially brought the damn thing home to her anyway!!! Keep in mind as well that this conversation took place in Arabic, which is no mean feat for me!

And the valuable lesson that nature is much bigger than you, and really doesn’t care. The waves will dump you on you head with not much warning, so when your father says ‘don’t swim past your knees’, it’s because, wel, you shouldn’t.

I love beaches. Love the wild west coast, but the gentle east beaches have considerable charm. (Less likely to drown you, for one)

Sorry to hear you and Noor are still poorly, Dotty, and I hope the new feeding plan helps baby to settle down a bit.

This week, life is being nice to me. I’m sure there’s going to be some payback at some point, but I’m just enjoying it. So far I’ve got my first class travel ticket upgrade (did I mention the free cups of tea?), I found out Tin Knickers won’t be doing my staff development review this year and our nice assistant manager will do it instead, I found a job with our local city council that I like the look of and have applied for, and it looks like we will finally be getting our long-awaited trip to Belgium soon.

Is it hometime yet?

holy crap - a whole page overnight!

it should be pointed out to the 'merikans that the pie to which weebl refers (great illustrations, myndy) is a pasty or meat pie - weebl is created in England

Thus endeth the cultural lesson of the day

off to work - in the rain :frowning: bleh

for all you HP fans

“As the three friends turned away, the last of the trains pulled out of Paddington Station with its cargo of doomed muggles.”
Awesome.

Nava-I had a terrifying experience in Lake Superior when I was about 7. Right after mom met dad…took us up to Lake Superior to walk along the “beach” and the told me I could wade in the water. A wave came along and knocked me under, I thought I was drowning. Mom and dad stood there, laughed and took pictures of me. Which those pictures have came back to haunt me a few times…

All of this talk about pie is making me want some. I love baking pies, but hubby doesn’t like to eat pie, so it would go to waste and no use in baking it then.

Dotty–how do you say F off in Arabic to mama-in-law? What a bitch!
Off to work. Am tired, but that’s because I didn’t nap yesterday. I feel like a geriatric with all this napping…

I think I missed a big chunk o’ the MMP, because I can’t follow the thread anymore. Perhaps I have ADD.

Happy Wednesday, all.

::yawn::

Is it quit o’clock yet?

Broken record here - still nothing but liquid sht flowing in this household. I am so fed up with this sht (figuratively and literally)!!!

Just ran out to the pharmacy to buy the AL110 - hubby is feeding Noor now, so we will see how it goes.

I remember the beach from when I was a kid. We just used to fish though, since it was always stinger season in summer in northern Queensland (box jellyfish, etc.). Plus, up north is protected by the Great Barrier Reef, so we never saw much in the way of waves until we moved to the Gold Coast (aka Surfers Paradise and surrounds) when I was 11. Then learning to swim took on a whole new dimension!

Rigs, the easiest thing to say is kiss-oom-uch (phonetic transliteration), which literally means, “your mother’s c**t”. Trust me, I think it all the time!

Geez, you furriners sure are racking up the post count here overnight, aren’t you?

I saw that bus story before - when it came out, and the picture of the girl. I tell ya, if that driver was distracted by that to the point of not being able to ‘drive safely’, he best never come to my town and take your average cargo of Amurkin high school girls home.

It’s already started raining, and it’s supposed to on and off all day.

Uh…I think I’m out of interesting things to say.

Actually, Sean is a nickname I had years ago while on the first ship I was staioned on. Thanks for changing the roster, and thank you, BooFae for swapping. I haven’t started a htread in a long while, I was starting to feel like a slacker.

Good morning all! It’s pouring rain here.

As for those who can’t cut their own hair, well, as I said, I don’t exactly cut my own, either. i can’t cut the back! Only the front. But that’s what my SO is for.

I’m so glad the link showed up at the bottom of the screen. For others it’s “guesses at the last line of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows”.

Please let us know about these things! I’m serious when I say I won’t even pop into the possible guesses thread. I am doing my best to remain completely unspoiled and I won’t even share my opinion of what is going to happen in the last book, nor will I read anyone else’s.

MBG I agree with you. That girl wasn’t wearing anything really revealing.

More later once I’ve caffeinated.
