A Murderously Fun MMP

Thanks for the brownies, **Posit ** - you win <drumroll> Brownie Points!

My mother is semi-sorta-retired from her catering business, and she still tries out recipes on us. In fact, she’s coming tomorrow with a new chocolate-peanut butter cake for us to sample. Yum!

Last load of laundry for today is in the washer. Vacuuming is done, kitchen is sorta-tidy, living room and dining room are tidy. Now I need to attack the family room. The rest of the crew is doing the yard. I dodged that bullet. WHEW!

I think I’m missing the relaxation of a vacation.

Morning, all. <yawn> I’m up and caffeinating and trying to get my two remaining functioning brain cells to rub together. <yawn> I suspect today will be a Useless Day. <yawn>I managed to get that congressional [del]drivel[/del] work done last night at a reasonable hour, but I should have gotten it done by 9 pm or so, but I was just hitting the wall, for some reason. <yawn> So today I plan to do absolutely nothing of importance. <yawn>Except catch up on a couple of recorded TV shows. <yawn>And pet the puppies.

Wait, brownies? <perks up> Did someone say brownies? Yummm…brownies for breakfast! <snatches two and hides them behind my back to sneak off and scarf them down in a corner>

BooFae, did I read correctly that you said vanilla gin? You guys put vanilla in <gag> gin? Okay, that is just plain weird! Although anything that helps the gin go down more easily is probably a good idea.

I think I need to caffeinate some more so I don’t sit here muttering to myself.

why? what’d ever do to you?

You did, and it wasn’t me who put the vanilla in it! We brought some back from Belgium a while ago - it’s made by a company called Filliers and it’s marketed as cream jenever. The consistency is more like Baileys, it’s lovely! Actually those cream ones are nothing like gin at all, but they also do fruit jenever which is very tasty. My favourite’s the apple one, for some reason bottles of that flavour never last long in our house.

Postit I read your experience in that other thread. Put me on the list of those who are glad you’re still with us!

I have this mental image of Moooooom running around the family room wielding an ax, screamin’, “I always hated this furniture!”

MBG on behalf of the nation’s beermakers, we’re happy [del]to keep you in a drunken stupor[/del] to serve you. There is no subliminal message for you to mouse over following this sentence. DRINK MORE BEER!

I made a big ol’ green sallit a bit ago and am goin’ to grill some boneless chicken boobs shortly. A grilled chicken sallit sounds nummy, does it not? Ol y’all know who is comin’ by to eat. Think I’ll make some cheesey bread to go along with it. Speakin’ of ol’ y’all know who, he’ll be at da cave when I get home tonight. Thus, I probably won’t be doin’ my after work post tonight.

Ok, time to fire up le grille. Later Y’all!

I forgot to say, Posit, that I read your post in that thread – I couldn’t take the rest of it, but I did want to see yours – and   !! I’m glad you’re still here with us, too! What an awful experience!

I just can’t see vanilla and gin going well together. I take your word for it that it’s good.

Yawn. Time for chores, and Mr. Lissar’s driving test in a couple of hours.

And it’s Harry Potter Day. Yikes.

Bugs. The only path that bugs in my house take on their way back outside requires them to hold their breathe underwater for a while and to swirl around. (Yeah, I flush 'em.)

I had to renew my SDMB subscription this morning. I really need to check my non-work email more often.

Hey hey hey now!!! What about [post=8795160]mine[/post]??? I tried to push them down the intertubes to you but the peanut butter makes it kinda sticky and slows the connection until the hamsters can get in there and clean it up!!!

That’s why I had to eat so many myself

HOLY CRAP, Scribbles! add my name to list of those who are glad you were able to stop the guy

Can I trade some in and start calling you [del]cranky ol’ broad[/del] Mom, too?
Nava, Mika, Ellen, MCUNE, swampy, MamaTigs & rosie - Thanks for the hugs and good wishes, I’m glad I’m here too! {{{Hugs back}}}
Dotty - I told you I like yours too

HSM

Dotti, you evil thing, why’d you post that recipe! Now I have to make them and stuff myself til I can’t move.

Harry Potter comes out today! Squeeeeeeeee! My friends tried to convince me to dress up as Cho Chang. I guess I could if I wanted to, but the only schoolgirl-sh skirt I have is one I bought in my slimmer days. I’d have to give up breathing if I wanted to wear it. I kinda want to dress up as Bellatrix. Hmm.

I have a million things to do today. Hugs and kisses to all appropriate parties.

Thanks for the vote on the brownies Posit! You are most welcome!!!

I am glad you came through that ordeal okay. I cannot (and do not want to) even imagine that kind of nasty!

Haze, just concede defeat - I resisted temptation for about 10 days after my mother sent me the recipe, but finally caved and have now pasted it into my recipe book!!!

Well, peace reigns in the Gumdrop household. It’s now 7:00pm and Noor is asleep. Still no let-up in the diarrhoea, but we just keep feeding her and hydrating her and hoping it will be over in another couple of days. It’s already been 6 days - how much longer can it last??? Amazingly, she has actually gained weight this week (up from 6.6kg on Tuesday to 6.72kg today).

Caffinat… cafienattin… Drinking coffee to wake up. Apparently sleeping through an earthquake is tiring. It also makes for being a bit late to work as the trains all shut down for a while so they can look at the tracks and make sure they’re still OK.

Other than two broken windows at a Safeway near the epicenter, there doesn’t seem to be any damage out of this - it was only a 4.2 strike-slip. Just a jolt and wiggle.

Beard nets? Ugh… I’d need a basketball net to contain mine. So, apologies to anyone that finds a stray hair in their password.

Aaah…Friday at last. Today is my RDO so I am home caffienating and trying to catch up with all of you.

Moooommmm, welcome home! Where’s my present? Whad’ja bring me huh?

Scribbles, wow…just wow. I’m glad you’re doing well now. I can’t even imagine living through something that horrible.

It is rainy here. Dammit, we needed the rain, but I’m ready for some sunshine again. Summer started so late, so I’m feeling very ripped off now.

On the whole hair net/ beard net thingie: Here’s the deal. They’re NETS! They have HOLES! Hairs escape through HOLES! Hell, hair seems to wiggle it’s way through cloth! Hair nets are DUMB. I have spoken.

I’m making pulled pork for chop-chop tonight. I should get out to the kitchen get the pork and stuff going in the slow cooker. Eh, it can wait just a bit longer.

**DottyGD ** - 6 days? What does the doctor say about this?

Is it time to go home yet?

I did check yours out last night, but honestly, I was so tired and discombobulated, I neglected to comment, but they looked yummerrific!

Taters, I was going to bring you a present, but then everyone else would accuse me of playing favorites, and that way lies madness. So it’s the fault of the rest of the MMP. :stuck_out_tongue:

Garage is now clean, and the kids did a great job on the yard - future son-in-law appears to be a good and willing worker, so there’s that. Which means he beats out the last lazy, deadbeat BF by a mile. Laundry is done and my studio, at last, is cleaned up (since the craft show last month… :o )

Daughter and I will be headed out for some groceries in a bit, then I’ll have to start some cooking for tomorrow. Why did I think it was a good idea to invite the fambly over?!?!?

Tired. Sore. Need nap.

I can’t keep up!

Dotty, I printed out the PB brownies recipe and will try them tonight!

Just a drive-by. Gotta take advantage of these 1/2 day Fridays! Ta-ta!

haze, I have this little sensor on the front passenger seat of my car that decides if the airbag should go off or not based on how much weight is on the seat.

I think it flickered, trying to decide if there was actually a whole person there or not when you sat there. “thinner days”?

:dubious:

I’m not much of a brownie guy, so others can help themselves to my share. I also don’t bake, so I have offerings to make. I’ll go buy some chocolate and leave it on the table here for anyone to grab.
