Yeah, that thread is amazing. Just goes to show you never know what might push someone’s buttons. Bags, shoes, dryer lint…
I’ve decided I shall go as Bellatrix tonight. Muahahhaha.
MBG, believe it or not, I used to be skinnier than I am now. It’s all relative, really, because when I was in Korea I was on the average side. Then I went to Scotland for a summer and gained some weight - enough to make me feel bloated when I got back to Korea (Korean girls are tiny!!). I exercised for a year and slimmed down back to where I’d been before, but this year totally undid me. I haven’t gained weight, but I’ve become less fit, and my waistline has gone to seed. (I have a tiny bone structure though, so it’s easy for me to hide. Plus I’m still smaller than most of y’all white people anyway. )It wasn’t that bad when I was belly-dancing, but I had to give that up after winter quarter because of my thesis work. Anyway, hopefully I’ll take it back up in the fall. There are actually places that offer pole-dancing classes, but they’re kinda expensive, so we’ll see. I may just try jogging and see how that works out.
Mr. Lissar has his license. And Best Friend had a fabulous suggestion- drive halfway to South Bend on the Tuesday, stop for the night, and do the second half and arrive on Wednesday as planned. We’ll see how it flies with the parents.
You want to see someone who’s waaay too into Harry Potter? My cousin’s daughter, who had a Harry Potter party (for the movie opening) that got written up in their local paper.
You know what really good about the chocolate-raspberry-jam cupcakes I’m making? There’s no eggs in the batter, so I have no food health neurosis about eating the batter straight. It’s safe.
Ooh, before I forget (again!): Welcome Back Moooommm! Glad to hear that you had a good time. That is funny about feeling like you’re still on the boat, though.
Postit, many {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} for you; your take on what happened seems quite positive, at least.
No fox sightings this morning, thankfully. laughs It’s Friday, though, I’m home, I’ve had some honey BBQ wings & N.O.T. salad so I’m good to go. I didn’t eat lunch, per se, at work today. Er… what happened was that I was grazing most of the morning on fruit and yogurt and crackers, so when lunch time rolled around, I wasn’t very hungry. So I just ate some more fruit later on. Naturally, by the time I got home from work, I felt as if I were starving! And then I had to read all about all those goodies!! I discovered a new Ben & Jerry’s flavor that I like; it’s Vanilla fudge caramel swirl. Sooo good!! I’ll have that later, though.
Lucky Papa Tigs, he got “summoned” to a 3 pm meeting today, so asked me to call and cancel his physical therapy session. The young woman was quite sympathetic to how busy he can be and expressed in horror, “Last time he was here he was on the phone the whole time!” Welcome to his life, honey.
Home from work early (yay!) and off to nap so that I can go get the HP book at midnoc. I am not dressing up. HZNC–can you look that demented? I think Cho would be great (but obvious and trite). Go as Ron! in honor of Scots dear.
I missed the brownie recipe. Just as well–I need to lose weight.
From what I’ve been seeing online and in the news, I’m about the only person in the state that pre-ordered the book back in March from Amazon. Per the UPS tracking, the book is sitting at the UPS depot about two miles away from the house.
I wonder how much someone is paying extra to have every ground-pounder at UPS working on a Saturday to deliver several million books?
I pre-ordered HP7 from Overstock back in April. UPS tracking for mine says “IN TRANSIT TO FINAL DESTINATION” and is my town. I was hoping to get it today, but knew that wouldn’t happen. Hopefully tomorrow!!!
Good luck VBob!! You have to let us know how the exam goes.
I didn’t pre-order but will be stopping by Tar-jay on my way out of town to buy it at 8:00 a.m. I’m counting on a shorter wait that way. (My friend who preordered from a book store last time said she had to wait in a pretty long line.) Won’t get to start reading till afternoon. Have to work in the garden at home and at church, but I’m hoping to get a good ways through it on the weekend. My niece gets the book on Friday if she hasn’t talked my brother into buying it for her before then. They’re on vacation starting today and he assured me she wouldn’t have time to read. :dubious:
So sorry to hear about your horrible experience, Posit.
I pretty much stay out of the Pit.
I like the two-day driving plan, LiLi. I think it would probably be a lot less stressful for everyone involved.
Can’t believe it’s already 8:00 p.m. practically. Haven’t even had dinner yet. Better go investigate that.
Ok, so after reading some HP threads here, I decided to call my Borders, just to make sure.
I had to drive there to get a wristband so that I can go back and stand in line. I am in the third group, so I won’t be getting it right at midnoc. I wanted to prepay, but they don’t let you do that. grrrrr. The Ball starts at 9:30 (we’re not going), and I am to expect 100s of people.
I am tempted to just go tomorrow…
Off to try to nap-if I don’t nap–I might go tomorrow. If I DO nap, I can stay up most of the night to read. Hmmmm.
I guess I’m the last person in the world who hasn’t read *any * Harry Potter, huh? Or maybe I’m the only person who just isn’t interested?? <shrug>
We went out to dinner at a local seafood joint that I’ve been wanting to try. For 4 dinners, no al-key-hall and only 2 iced teas, the tab was over $90!!! The food was good, but not that good. And their all-you-can-eat crab legs were $42.99!  Needless to say, no one ordered them. The fiance wanted to but the daughter gave him the hairy eyeball. I guess we know who will control the purse strings in that family…
I just finished making some cucumber salad and hulling some strawberries. Daughter made deviled eggs and “green stuff” (pistachio pudding and pineapple and cool whip and mini marshmallows) and the fiance made a pasta salad under daughter’s direction. **FCD ** is futzing in the basement. I’m waiting for them to finish in the kitchen so I can load the dishwasher.
Scruffy still doesn’t seem to trust me not to leave. She’s been at my heels all day. I about wore her out when I was hauling stuff from the garage to the basement 4 times in rapid succession. Poor little Scruffy.
And if I may echo everyone else, Posit, wow! Glad all is well with you.
Off to write up my vacation story. It’s in my head, but I need to turn it into a Word doc, then a thread. Busy busy…
