Hmm, well, I suppose I could walk to the BART station, take the BART across the bay, get off at Embarcadero, get on a Muni streetcar, ride it with all the other crazies to the CalTrain station, and then ride CalTrain for two hours.
Or I could roll around in broken glass and then pour rubbing alcohol all over myself. - I’m just try to figure out which one I would enjoy more.
Seriously, if it comes to that I can swing it. I’d just have to leave at around noon to get there on time. Anyway my email is out there so anybody wanna let me know what’s going down (or who’s going down

Jack, I think you can take BART from Oakland to Fremont, the CALtrain from there, thereby skipping the city.
I used Oakland City Center as departure place, there are others though.

First off, welcome Virtee and all that. I don’t normally do welcome threads, but it seemed kinda rude to just jump in about the dopefest (besides, i’ve met the guy already and you can add me to the list of those who can personally vouch that he’s cool).
ANYhow, i’ll be taking Caltrain to the fest. I’ll prolly take the 5:00 train from SF and get there around 6:30. If anyone wants to join me, lemme know, or just show up on the train. I’ll almost certainly be riding in the bike car (northernmost).

btw, can anyone give me directions from the caltrain station to the meeting place? it would be most useful.
Go directly out the front of the station, across Cahill, to the street across the parking lot (Montgomery). Go AWAY from the stadium (south). Montgomery will turn into Bird, keep going. You’ll pass over I-280 and about 0.8 miles after that…
Turn right onto Willow.
Go to the next traffic light and that’s Lincoln. You’ll see all the people to the left.

Funny thing … just now I realized that Sue’s directions involved taking 280, which I so infrequently use that I don’t know a quick way to get to it. So I had to go and do a MapQuest search of my own.
It’s quarter of 6, just got back from a birthday party–you’re probably not reading this, Jack, but I have your cell phone number and will make sure you get directions to where we are!
