A new Finish the Western coming in a couple weeks

Sorry I abandoned you guys, but my enthusiasm for other pursuits overshadowed the Finish the concerns.

You did a fine job of tying all the loose ends together. See you in the next story, though like Wendy said, it should probably be a good few months down the line.

Q’apla!

What’s that last word mean?

It’s Klingon for success. In real life (ha!) use, it’s kind of like Aloha.

Real life? What’s that? But thanks, and aloha, “till we meet again”

Well done, ma’am. Well done.

I figure the next Western should take place in December 1899, which would be about a year and a half, I think. It would be fun to end with a turn of the century celebration!

Well, that would be great, but will you come write with us more?

Ya know, with that sort of timeline, Sally and Danny’s kids, if and when, would be the age of my grandparents. My grandmother, who is still with us at the age of 100, was born in 1904, my grandfather in 1900. That means someone like Little Mose might fight in WWI. (Supresses a shudder.)

As long as I don’t pre-empted. See, I haven’t been around here as much; usually by the time I had an idea and worked out what to say, someone else had already done the same thing!

Not to mention what I had wasn’t as good.

Don’t kid yourself, you were great.

I do think we need to take a break for a while. When it’s over I’d like to try a different kind of story. I’m *still * sorry that superhero/mutant thing didn’t last. Maybe this summer or fall we could re-write the OP for that and try again. Or an epic fantasy, ala LOTR. Or something else, who knows?

I may try to write a short story on my own, set in the Sci-fi universe we created. Not a “novel” like we did, but some backstory, or sidestory, with some of the characters. If I later emailed it to ya’ll, you could decide if it’s “canon” or not.

Nice job, Baker…I loved the end bit!

It’s kind of hard to keep these going when there’s only four of us. Let’s give the folks of Anderson’s Gulch a rest for awhile, and we’ll see if another genre will gather more players.

Thanks to everyone for their contributions and overlooking my continuity errors. I had fun!

Thanks, but what I meant was that when my idea had already been taken, the one that took it did a better job.

I like the Fantasy idea. As had been noted, all us regulars would have to get together and come up with the setting. Geography, races, languages, that sort of thing. I already did a bit of language creation in the Sci-Fi stories, mainly the planet names. Sevastol really does mean “paradise” in Xavvian!
