Mooooooom, I had a 1988 S10 that came from the factory without power steering. It also didn’t have AC. It was THAT vehicle that the dealership ordered to advertise Starting at $cheap.
Today was EoM reports. I got all but the EoQ ones done. One of them took four hours because some @$$hole messed with it sometime since last month and FUBARed some formulas. Lesson learned. Now, that folder is read only to anyone but me and my backups (per folks waaaay up the food chain, regular internal reports have to be linked rather than attached). I also put a master template on my desktop. Tomorrow will be easier, since I am the origin of the quarterly template and have it on the desktop.
It was 99F when I got off irk this afternoon. My AC needs a tune up, so I mentioned it to the apartment manager when I dropped off the rent. It got a bit warm in here yesterday. It’s a little better now, but it isn’t removing enough moisture. I have the ceiling fan on in the bedroom and the tower fan in the studio.
Mine’s been doing shameful things before either of yours were thought of. At least we mostly appear to be screwing over ourselves at the moment, for a change. Progress?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis a very hyoooooomid 77 Amurrkin out and clear (dark actually) with a predicted high of 99 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today I shall take care of laundry, finish the spiff up of the cave (need to mop the kitchen and bathrooms), make many chikin sallit sammiches, take said sammiches to the church house, funeralize, do the reception thing after the funeral, and clean up afterwards. That should be enough to keep me busy and outta trouble. Sup shall be via forage. We’ll both be at the church house for Johnny’s memorial so maybe grab a burger on the way back to da cave.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Back in the office. Rah. At least it’s a super-short week - just today and tomorrow.
Regarding the power steering, our car guy said the electronic power steering is better than the old kind, but when it fail it’s $$$$$. I can’t begin to count how many cars we’ve had over the years, all with hydraulic power steering, and we never had a failure. We’ve had the HHR under 2 years (OK, it was used, but still) and it’s only got 75K miles on it. My Aerostar had 235K miles when I sold it, and nary a PS problem.
Well, it’s not like I could do anything else with the $1700… Dammit.
I’ve been reading *The British Empire. * One of the reasons that the various areas untied into the country of Canada was fear that the USA with a large standing army after the Civil War, would try a land grab.
Oh, that’s easy. I just have to Not Do a bunch of stuff, which would actually align me with their own practices and, unlike Doing a bunch of stuff, has the advantage of deniability.
I don’t know, us neighbors aren’t exactly coming up roses either. Hopefully the whole mess will not be too painful in between right now and when it becomes a chapter in history books; I find that often the big messes at the top are kept from being much bigger by the work of a lot of those people who never make the news.
It’s a cool (and noisy) 66 degrees outside. Noisy because the water people are out there digging up the street.
The windows are open for a bit, until it gets hot out.
Supposed to get up to 93 today.
I should be outside irking in the yard instead of inside irking.
Oh, yeah, I nearly hit a deer this morning, before I even got out of my neighborhood! I was checking out the various settings in the car, since **FCD **drove it yesterday and changed my seat and mirrors. And all of a sudden, there was a deer running across the road right in front of me! Luckily, she was alone. Just the other day, we saw a doe with 2 spotted fawns at the other end of our road.
I knew there were deer in the neighborhood - damned things are eating my hosta!!!
Let’s play a game, it’s called Eat That Candy, it’s kinda like Name That Tune. You remember that one, doncha? “I can name that tune in x notes!”
Me: I can eat that (theater-sized box of Dots) in two sittings. (Nutrution info says it’s eight servings. :o)
Got some amazing fireworks photos last night, some of my best ever!
You do NOT want to know the damage I can do to any quantity of nonpareils or licorice mix. The only reason I haven’t offed more than a pound at a sitting is that I have resisted the urge to buy more than a pound at a time.
'm working from home today and got a call from someone claiming to be from Social Security. In a heavy Indian accent, he told me my SS number was being “suspended” because of potential criminal activity. I said “put it in a letter.” Oh no, we can’t do that. I asked what criminal activity and he started babbling about something in Texas (I live in Illinois). I kept scr3wing with him, asking what activity, and to put it in writing so I could show it to my attorney. Of course he wanted me to verify my SSN which of course I wouldn’t do. He eventually hung up.
I love messing with these people. I get robo calls on almost a daily basis for my brothers, saying that papers need to be delivered. Both brothers are dead…
I came to the office today, which I do twice a week, to find a bunch of folders and papers where I normally toss my backpack. My boss is going to retire in a year or so, and I need to be trained to take her place. I’ve been here a dozen years, writing programs and running data through them. Now I need to learn the management end.
sigh Why can’t I just win a lottery? Do you have to buy a ticket to win the Powerball?
Typing this from the Library at Colorado Springs, as the hotel doesn’t allow Facebook communications.
Spent 4 hours going to and from the Summit at Pikes Peak, was worth the (considerable) amount of money spent, driving up and back would have destroyed what few nerves I have left. Now need to get launch and head towards the Garden of the Gods.
There is that… I would not blame the EU for just kicking us out until we apologise and learn to play nice. I’ve had immigrant friends who thought they were fully settled here just up and leave the country already, and I can only see it getting worse in the near future.
Anyway, irked, did washing, walked to the shop and completely failed to make it to the beach as I intended. I am off and planning a Nice Day Out tomorrow though.
I have that problem(?) with M&M peanuts. That’s why I only ever buy the small bags, when I buy them at all. Nuttin’ to report here. Just checking in so’s y’all will know I ain’t dead. Yet.
