Got up this morning and rubbed my pork.

I don’t have a smoker, so I’m cooking it in the oven. I’ll let it sit in there at 235ºF for about six hours and see how it is. It might need eight hours, but it’s not a very big roast. I’ve done it this way many times, and it always comes out great. I put it in the oven at 06:45, so it has at least another five and a half hours to go. We’ll have corn on the cob with it, and I bought some potato salad for Mrs. L.A.

I’m on my second cuppa joe. Eventually I’ll get through two pots.

It’s going to sound like a war zone tonight. Firecrackers, skyrockets, lots of mortars… We’ll probably set up a couple of chairs in front of the house and watch. Thousands of people have spend many, many thousands of dollars on (technically illegal, but who cares?) fireworks. We don’t have to spend a cent! :stuck_out_tongue: Fortunately, Tonka doesn’t freak out. Here’s a video from 2015.

But you don’t get to pick out what to blow up! :dubious:

Happy Birthday Flytrap.

I’m gonna do some ribs with the usual sides and watermelon. I’ve not had much of an appetite and/or an upset tummy. I was able to keep breakfast in me. Our little island did fireworks last night but we didn’t go. There are more tonight in Key West but we won’t go to those either but we will be subjected to the ones in the hood and there are usually many, for days. I only heard a few last night. I shall do something later that I haven’t done lately and that is drink some beers. They are not yet cold. I haven’t quit but just not had any interest in drinking anything for about a month.

All y’all have a safe and happy 4Th.

Happy Birthday, Flytrap!

Other than that, Blurf!

We’re BBQing ribs for dinner, with Corn onna cob on the side, and store bought tater salad. (don’t judge)
Then we will take the dogs into the bedroom and wait out the siege.
(When I re-did the bedroom a few years ago I stripped it down to the studs and stuffed insulation into all the nooks and crannys, so it’s quieter in there.)

Whatever fun I ever got out of the 4th of july has been sucked out of it this year by that whore-breathed son of a thousand bastards in washington.

I hear that there’s a 50-50 chance of thunderstorms in D.C. this evening. If I was a praying man I’d pray for lightning.

The po’k is smelling really good.

Howdy Y’all! We made festive. We ate. We drank. We were merry. Now everyone is gone. YAY!!! Dishwasher is washin’ away and looks like rain is comin’ in on us. Maybe it’ll rain enough to damper the local fireworks [del]idiots[/del] enthusiasts. Hope all who celebrate had or continue to have a good time.

And it’s raining and there was an earthquake too. God hates His orangeness too. Hahahaha

Home - it rained part of the way and I kept looking to the west, hoping to see dark clouds. I guess it’s too much to wish for a bolt of lighting to seek out the Orange One…

My mom made ribs, but she only cooked them for 3 hours - they need at least 6, dammit! But the pulled poke my bro brought was tasty, as was the cheesecake - YUM!! Chillage tonight, work in the shop tomorrow. I’s tahred…

Happy birthday flytrap!

Maybe someone will write a song about the fire like was written after the fire at the Heaven Hill distillery The Galoots - Heaven Hill's On Fire - YouTube With any luck, it only took out the regular Jim Beam and none of the Woodford Reserve,

The cookout this afternoon was cancelled for rain. Rain and thunderboomers also cancelled going to the dog park.

I finished a paying project this afternoon and now only have to package and deliver it to collect my $1K. Tomorrow, I’ll go for groceries, hit Lowe’s and possibly, if it hasn’t sold, go pick up a piece of equipment for the studio.

Happy Birthday FlyTrap!

Made it home earlier than I expected.
Wasn’t a bad day there. We had pizza and potato salad for dinner.

The drive down was quick but way too many assholes on the road.
I called the police on one of them and I hope they got her.

The speed limit on 70 is 70mph. I was in the left lane and all of a sudden traffic slows down to 55, and I see it is a white car in front of the pack. Nobody can go around it because the center lane wasn’t open. Finally we get to where people can pass on the right, and the car is doing at least 80. Then when it catches up to the next pack in the center lane, it slows down to 60 again. This goes on for miles, when you can’t pass on the right, the car slows down, when you can it speeds up. The car is also not staying in the lane, sometimes straddling the line with the center lane.

Finally I get to where I can pass the idiot and it is some dumb bitch texting on her phone. Not too many miles later, she breezes past me, had to be doing at least 90, still texting and not staying in her lane.
A few miles later, I am passing her again, she is still texting, still crossing over into the center lane.

Dumb bitch was going to get somebody killed.

Then there were the two corvettes that were racing. I passed the blue one twice as he kept slowing down, and then I’d hear the roar and he is blowing by me again with the black corvette on his tail.

That is another option Red, however, my mother decided she wants to keep the love seat, she thinks, maybe, she isn’t sure. We couldn’t have brought it home today though anyway, it was raining in the armpit. It doesn’t look like we got any rain up here.

I couldn’t take Ripple to the park today as the dog park is closed, I guess for the fireworks display? I know he wanted to go after we got home, but we can’t, and he will just have to deal with it.

Somebody(s) around here has been setting off fireworks since last weekend, usually around midnight. Fortunately, Ripple isn’t bothered too much by them. If they are really loud he will bark at them, otherwise he just goes back to sleep.
I am lucky to have a calm dog.

yeah our flop of July (as I call it ) started with the biggest earthquake (6.4) in ca since Northridge a few DVDs fell off the shelf and the Wii u moton sensor fell off the tv … the epicenter was in Ridgecrest which is maybe an hour north from here

Turned on Knbc4 and watched a few minutes and wanted to kill one of the broadcasters cause the attitude of “well at least it happened in the desert sticks and not someplace really important”
We got a halfhearted invite to my cousin’s house but i were not gonna go because of 1 there so diet conscious its not really a bbq 2 his wife and her friend are probably obnoxiously drunk right now and 3 we have a pool to swim in …plus my disabled cousin has really sensitive hearing and hates fireworks which are illegal here anyways … so shes get upset and snotty comments would be said …So i told aunt she could go but we’re not
Our civic fireworks are at our fairgrounds … but theres a catch ok entrance to the fairgrounds are free but the actual fireworks are tied to the ticketed rodeo event we have every year …so you can mill around and spend money at the food and craft booths but to see any of the ground fireworks you pay for … the only free ones are the ones that shoot in the air …and thats a hard pass …
and unless the neighbors bring some in from Chinatown or Tijuana there all shoting off the same fountains and such …So my flop of july will be just like any other day …

Ladies and Gentlemen (I use the last term loosely) I lie about everything to Facebook, including my birthday.

Early fireworks began going off when I took the dogs out a few minutes ago. They did not seem to be unduly perturbed.

I mentioned I woke up and rubbed the pork. About an hour ago I pulled out the pork. It was good. Pulled pork, BBQ sauce, corn on the cob, and I even had a little potato salad. And a 20 ounce Monster Ultra Zero.

Lots of very large explosions outside, and many more smaller ones. Sunset isn’t for another four hours. People have generally been pretty good in past years, knocking it off at midnight. But once the sun sets, and until midnight, it’s going to be very, very noisy. Tonka doesn’t really care, so far.

Well, either some nearby town just had it’s grand finale fireworks, or its ‘Shock and Awe II Electric Boogaloo’.

The town fireworks are currently going on. They were postponed last evening for rain and the rain stopped in time to have them tonight. Nelson is acting like it’s a challenge (kinda like the vaccuum cleaner) and I have to threaten him with time out when he begins to bark. Right now, he’s chill on my arm. :stuck_out_tongue:

All around me it sounds like a warzone. I do not spend a penny for a good show!

Me too! It’s over an hour 'til sunset. Then there will be lights in the sky until midnight.

Forgot to mention, I went to the grocery store today, and there, in their old stomping grounds at 10th and Gage, I saw the full force of the WBC picketing. I still remember, twenty years ago, getting them all riled up by walking down the line of their cars, on the lane in the park, and pretending to take pictures of their cars, and writing down their tag numbers. Imagine one of them, over at the corner, turning around, seeing me and my friend, and the screaming at us that ensued. Music to our ears, although we did not even have film in the camera, and were not really writing.

He can always PM me; I have been known to take requests.

Oh ---- and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And while I will deny ever saying this its good to have you around and I hope you have very many more.
I worked but I had to sit around at work an extra 6 hours. We were invited to a party and we had storms predicted (which did happen) so I had the OW drop me off way early. Finished one book, read another, and started a third. Rarely at home do I get that long of an uninterrupted chance.
