Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 93 (BRRR!) and a fifty percent chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. The forecast says mixed clouds and sun with scattered thunderstorms. Sounds ominous, does it not? This mornin’ I shall head over to the church house, once again, to assist with mowage of the back forty. We have several folks out of town so I agreed to do extra duty this mornin’. On the upside, if’n we get started around eight-thirtyish, we should be finished up by around eleven. Hopin’ for some quality cee-mint pond time this afternoon. Also need to make up a chikin pie to take for first Sunday brunch tomorrow. Any need to feed will be via forage.
Ruble now that’s my idea of a birthday song! I even listened to all forty verses.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day. Rah.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. It’s my Firday.

For a moment I thought you were going to say “Amurrika is like me, made for gold lamay and …”…ah never mind. And as I have said before at a certain point the “Happy Birthday” song should sound like this:

I once wnet on a river cruise in Russia, adn the whole time the crew was singing obscene shanties. When I complained to the captain ,he just laughed and said “That’s the Song of The Vulgar Boatmen!”
It’s a muggy and cloudy 71 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 91 today.
I wanted to get out early to finish mulching, but my son wants to wait until 9.
There are other things I can do until then. Already have a load of laundry in.
Gruffy hissed at me when I put food out for her this morning. Stupid cat.
What an awful night!!! Roxy seemed to scream almost endlessly. I think it was a combination of teething pain and being overly tired. A little after 4, I got up, sent Daughter back to bed, and sat in the rocker with the baby. She quieted pretty quickly, then hiccuped in her sleep for the next 15 minutes. When I was sure she was thoroughly zonked out, I put her back in her crib. Then I was able to doze on and off for a couple more hours, but around 7, I had to get up - I knew Higgs needed to go out.
After tending to the critters, I loaded and started the dishwasher. It’s making all kinds of noises - I fear it’ll die soon. Of course it will… between FCD’s power steering and my car needing brakes, we’re out over $2K that hadn’t been budgeted. All we’d planned for was oil changes. So much for that plan. Dammit.
It’s muggy and overcast, and we could have rain by early afternoon. I’m not going to chance it - laundry goes into the dryer today. I have to run some errands, too, and get a few grocery items. And the kitchen floor needs serious attention - I think the cat hair in the corners is becoming sentient! That should give you an idea of my day.
Howdy everyone. Riding around with hubby while he works. We are about to go to the dump. Living my best life here. Yesterday we went to irk on an ice machine at a house that had two Tesla’s sitting there. The first ones I ever saw. Nice looking cars but not for me.
My house is so sad and empty I don’t want to be here alone…
OK I think he has the trailer hitched. Off to the dump. Y’all have a great weekend.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, towels in the wash, puppy crate cleaned and fixing to purtify to pick up a Marketplace buy. After, I’ll stop at the bookstore to pick up a Shel Silverstein book for a baby shower tomorrow afternoon. When I get home, I’ll go to Lowe’s for plants.
That is why it can be good to have more than one dog at a time. You’ll still miss your baby, but at least the house isn’t empty.
I have been seriously thinking of getting another shar pei. I don’t know how Ripple would take it, he is not used to sharing me.
He is my dog now, he hardly ever hangs out with my son anymore.
Very proud of myself this morning. Damned ice maker froze up again for the umpteenth time. In the past, I’ve had to do repeated applications of heat with a hair dryer, with mixed results. So this time I thought well, fuck it, how hard can it be to take the whole unit out of the freezer, thaw it, and dump all the moisture out? Turns out, not hard at all. Loosen two holding screws, disconnect the pin/socket power supply, and out she came! Hopefully, this will solve the problem for an extended period.
Noticed one of my car sidelights was out a day or so ago, bought some replacement bulbs, then went to google how to change 'em, 'cos you can’t get in from under the hood, I tried. First result was a 10 minute youtube video saying that you had to take the whole bumper off, then the fitting out to get at the bulb, with a step-by-step involving tools I don’t own and at least half an hour’s work  Then noticed one of the comments said if you didn’t have fat fingers, you could get in underneath from by the wheel, just pop the trim out and do it by feel.
5 minutes it took, then at least an hour for the smug to wear off.
Going up the ol’ town on Monday for a dentist trip and to see people, thought I’d better make sure the car was legal for the trip. Only issue is I now have a yellowish bulb on one side and a white one on the other. I got a pack of two bulbs, but I’m not sure if I want to bother changing them to match…
A new T-shirt arrived for me today, from TeeSpring.com. I think this is the first time I’ve bought something directly from a Facebook ad.
It’s a picture of the Triforce from “The Legend of Zelda”, with the Triforce of Courage highlighted in green. It says, “Courage: My ability to persevere and overcome situations that scare me.” Yeah, I empathize more with Link than I do with Zelda or Ganon.
Howdy Y’all! A little bit of a bzzy day turned into a lazy one. I went over to the church house to help mow, but it got done yestiddy. Turns out a couple folks decided to go over late afternoon and do the rest. YAY! I did haul the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash cans back to where they live since the trash did finally get picked up yestiddy, just now while I was there. I also checked the bathrooms in the Parish Hall for tp and put a new roll each in both bathrooms. After that, I went by the Dollah Sto’ for a couple items and then back to da cave. We had some quality cee-mint pond time for a while and then came in due to hearin’ thunder in the distance. A tstorm rolled through and now ‘tis rainy, which is fine by me. Chikin pie and a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea are made for tomorrow. All in all not a bad day. Oh, I got a text from someone (a reliable someone as in the prior [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden) tellin’ me it felt like the a/c was not workin’ right in the Parish Hall foyer. I put a call in to the a/c folks and left a message to call me about that. Hopefully I can get someone out on Moanday. Always sump’n fun!
Speaking of tees, we were out to Cape Disappointment on the coast last week. I need some new tees that don’t have grease spots on them, so was faced with two possibilities: one tee had a cliff and lighthouse with “Cape Disappointment” on it; the other was more existential and just said “Disappointment Awaits”. The second one was a little too on the nosy for my 72-year old self, so I opted for the first.
I had to leave because Ripple wouldn’t leave a grumpy german shepherd alone. He got the female to play with him, but the (unneutered) male didn’t like it.
Ripple kept trying to entice the male to play. I figured it was better to get Ripple out of there before he got hurt.
I’m a little surprised because Ripple usually leaves grumpy dogs alone, and it is really too hot to play anyway.
Just as well we left when we did, it was starting to thunder, and it looks like it is going to pour down any minute now.
I have lots to do and none if it is getting done.
I woke up too early, I tried to take a nap earlier and couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about everything I need to do.
However, it is too hot to do anything outside, and I am too tired/lazy to move the stove to clean under and behind it, and to move the couch. Or to wipe out the fridge.
Just walked into the bathroom & noticed there was no more TP. (on the toll, Swampy, dont panic). Opened the closet & started to bend over to get some morr out of the pack on the floor… & two eyes are staring at me!!!
Apparently, the cat thinks the towels in there are a good napping spot.
our fat moose of a cat loves my dresser… because of 1 my clothes and 2 its a great place to catch bugs …(its in the washroom which use ot be part of the garage …)
well no earth-related excitement today (so far anyways) but even though its leaking we turned on the cooler because its finally deciding its summer in the desert …and wants to make up for the lost 2 months we didnt broil alive …
I got the knitting needles I needed. Started at WalMart - nope. Tried JoAnn’s - nope. Tried Michael’s - SUCCESS!!! But pricey - it was almost $25 for 2 small circular needles and 2 sets of small double-pointed needles. I need them to make baby and child knitted caps.
Rain was in the forecast, so I ran my laundry thru the dryer. Nope - no rain. But laundry is all done, so there’s that. And the critter fountain is clean. And knittage has occurred. Plus I had some Roxy time.
And now, we await pizza delivery. Not a bad day. But it’ll be a melatonin night.
I picked up the Marketplace find today. Because it is an upgrade to my old machine, I’m actually reading the manual beofore setting it up. The old one works well, but, given that they aren’t making either of the machines that take the software that I have, I wanted to pick up a like-new one to tide me over before I have to go to a new one and repurchase software.
It was raining when I got home, so no flower trip to Lowe’s. I spent a couple of hours at the bookstore picking out a baby shower gift (Where the Sidewalk Ends and Meet Pete the Cat for those who are curious). I made a card and a couple of bookmarks to go with and put them in a gift bag for tomorrow.
The remainder of my day includes a lot of sloth after KP.
The last two days it rained here after 6pm, so I ate early and got back to my hotel by 5pm; now of course it won’t rain at all.
Saw Devil’s Tower, a couple of seldom-visited museums, and lost $60 at blackjack at a Deadwood Casino. Also drove through some mind-bending beautiful country.
Tomorrow is the Badlands, and then I think I’ll be ready to come home on the 8th. Luckily my neighbors said I left some windows open, so I can break into my house when I get there (if somebody doesn’t call the cops…
