Mostly for you and Doggio ----- some day I am going to do a years-long research study on that version of Happy Birthday. In my clan it goes back generations with various little differences. And my Dad said he remembers it from when he was three or four. Our usual version is more along the lines of
Happy birthday, happy birthday
People starving everywhere
Agony, gloom, and despair
But don’t you worry, don’t you care
Have A
Happy birthday.
And Doggio ------ those could have been relatives Gramma always said we lifter vulgar to the category of a language all its own.
PS – THANK YOU GOD for spellcheck. I was going to have some rye bread with my supper but we were out. So instead I had several fingers of 131Proof rye whisky. I don’t mind drunk-posting (I have to double tomorrow) but I at least want it to be readable.
Thirded. Back earlier today when I was sober I added clutch fluid to the master and bled it. It helped my pedal and clutch issues but I’m still going to need to take it on and get it fixes/looked at by someone who mostly knows something other than 1930-70 cars before all this freakin power-assist-hydralic-crap!
I also got my eyes checked, ordered glasses, shopped at a thrift store and scored a couple brand-new tools at a major discount
( https://www.antiquesnavigator.com/archive/2018/12/17/332945779586.jpg for 5 freakin bucks brand new in the box) and was otherwise a responsible adult.
OK ------- as much as a heavily-armed-with-cannons-and-mortars man can be described as “responsible”. After painting a motorcycle to look like a Holstein cow. And working for Da Jungle by choice.
God -------- I need another drink.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 96 and partly cloudy (mostly N.O.S.?) for the day. Today’s agenda calls for deheathenization (common worship with the Luteurns), first Sunday brunch, and Vestry meetin’. Shall be a looooooooong day. Also, need to get over to the church house around nineish to assist with candle duty and set up, bein’ as there was a funeral yestiddy so set up for this mornin’s service must occur. Vestry meetin’ is because EYP will be on vacation startin’ tomorrow, which is the second Moanday and usual meetin’ time. We get to talk about mid year budget revisions. Woo and Hoo.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Slept with Mel last night - didn’t wake till 7:30!!
We had one hellacious t-boomer storm overnight - the lightning was like from a bad horror flick - rather impressive. So all is soggy thing morning.
Today’s plans mostly involve cleaning the kitchen - especially the floor. Plus I got some cukes from my sis the other day and they’ll become a cuke salad. Not to mention the Amish melon that needs to be cut up.
Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off today. Alex Catt woke me at 0600, sitting in my bedroom window and chirping back at the birds. It’s supposed to be rainy, so I shall not venture forth much today.
More storms and more rain. Irk should be interesting and one of those days when I’m really glad I demoted myself to peasant. We’re heading out for a good breakfast and then the OW will drop me off. With luck she will remember to pick me up 12 hours later.
If I want to print, I have to go out to the shop, which I did, for our latest insurance cards. We’re networked enough that I can save documents on FCD’s machine, but I need to figure out how to connect to the printer. Or I can just buy a cheapie for in here. Decisions, decisions…
Anyway, after printing out all 3 proofs-of-insurance, I pulled all the auto maintenance receipts from my glove box. I have virtually every one since we bought the car, tho a couple are missing. Every 5K miles, plus a few extras when we had issues between services. I’m not going to total up what we’ve spent on the Sonata, but it’s a few bucks. And it’s going strong with 165K miles, so there’s that.
Up and caffeinating. Today’s plans include the usual Sunday chored, going to a baby shower, maybe the dog park, picking up some prescriptions and general farting around.
swampie, you need to be careful. With all you are doing at the church, you are in serious danger of being elected Senior Warden when the next terms roll around.
Just finished cleaning the kitchen floor. The grout needs a good scrubbing, and I did some of the worst of it, but my main goal was to get up cat hair and assorted sticky spots - the curse of the toddler.
Now I’m a sweaty mass. I think a popsicle is in order!
Today I’m more than a bit fed up with these bees; went to the bee group meeting to go through a few hives there (and gossip), then went to check on mine. Group bees? Fine. Mine? Tiny wingèd psychopaths.
One even attacked me before I even got into the field, then must have got into my hair, because it stung me mid inspection, on the neck from inside the suit. At least, that’s what I assume must have happened, because there were no gaps or holes in the suit. I hope it gets fun again soon
Howdy Y’all! Home (well, have been for half an hour) from the Sunday marathon over to the church house. Da Bear is “wo’ slap out!” ‘Twas a good day however. Good crowd for church and brunch and a Vestry meetin’ that lasted exactly one hour, the way all good meetin’s should. CupCakes with my luck I will be Senior Warden in the next year or so.
**flytrap **- I think the printer is plugged into a network router, but it’s out in the building, and I’m not sure how I’m connected to all that. I wasn’t here when the computer guy set it up.
**Nut **- actually, the toddler has loverly, fluffy curls, and she tends to drool a lot. She’s also been known to grab hold of the cat by the hair, so she’s responsible for some of the detritus.
Weekend winding down. Tomorrow, I need to get some light refreshments for the company meeting. I’ve brewed a pitcher of tea, and I’ll make lemonade. Plus we have some bottled water to set out in a big bowl of ice. And right now, I’ve got the ice maker running. The meeting could be a big deal for the company.
Howdy all. Went into the Badlands (which is rather quiet scenic), visited a Minuteman Missile Silo (missile is gone) and, as all visitors to the Black Hills region must do, made a pilgramage to Wall Drug.
Moved my flight to Denver tomorrow earlier (had a 40 minute change and I ain’t taking no chances) and upgraded to Business Class for the Denver-Huntsville leg. About $250 I didn’t have to spend, but hey, it’s the last day on the road and I earned some piece of mind.
Will post copious pictures later this week on Facebook, but will say if you haven’t been out to the Black Hills region of S. Dakota, it’s well worth doing, despite the overhyping and constant billboards. It is that nice.
All y’all take care and I’ll check in once I am back in Casa Rat.
