A Perfect Sunday - An Early MMP

Unhappy truth about myself: I am an undisciplined person. (like this is news to anyone, even me).

I have done part of my grad school homework. Did I do the distasteful part–the HARD part, so that I could awake with the joyous knowledge that only the “easy” part remains?
I did not.

So, it’s still hanging over my head like bad drywall. <sigh>
Off to bed soon. I’m very Scarlett O’Hara these days.

There’s a roof leak. :frowning: Over our bedroom. :frowning: At least it’s not over the bed! But there’s a steady drip…drip…drip into the bucket I put under the leak. :frowning:

Oh well, it’s not our roof, that’s what we pay our landlord the big bucks for! If it was our roof, it wouldn’t have dared leak!

Ugh. Can you move the bed–like into another room so that you don’t have to hear that?
I am driving myself nuts trying to find a thread (about what I don’t recall) but that had a poster named monkey with a gun. The thread got sidetracked by people trying to guess the impetus for this name. I think I’ve found it, but of course can’t find the thread. (it is not coming up under search). I need to find better things to do with my time…

The Snakes won out season opener! Yippee! Good game, too - our goalie did an awesome job in his first professional game.

gt - the insurance does have a 'script plan, thank goodness. Also vision and dental. After I’ve been there a year I can get 401k and profit sharing. I’m a happy girl!

I’m also a tired girl. G’night, ya’ll. Thanks for keeping your appendages crossed for me!

As well you should be!!! Sounds like a job to snatch up.

And yay for the Snakes!

Off to bed.

Happy Birthday Rebo!!!

Yay for an employed SCL!!! Go Snakes!!!

As for me, I went to the doc Wednesday, I have arthritis. Working too hard and getting old will do that. My ergonomic keyboard partially died, I had no arrow keys, no commas, and had to type |/| for m and || for n. I also have to work all weekend. Nelly can knock over the trash can. Canes lost 7-4(5 PPG against  )

rigs, I like squishy. How ya doin’?

Hugs, drugs, and gropes to all you other Mumpers.

Out.

Wow. I … just …

:: blink ::

I’ve never come across a raving conspiracy theorist in person.

I’ve also never come across someone who spoke exclusively in freely associating streams of consciousness.

Tonight I ran afoul of both. In one human. And my head is still wriggling on its back, its little ganglia waving about furiously as it tries to right itself.

Let it be said that he addressed me personally, without provocation, and apparently without any other apparent motive than to [del]enlighten and inform[/del] fuck me in the temporal lobe.

Owing to the need to mentally purge, I will now attempt to reconstruct his torrent of verbal effluvium. The sequence thoughts might be out of order, but he spoke in such tongues as to make his sentences (and most fragments thereof) interchangeable anyway, so it doesn’t much matter:

He continued like that, addressing me like we were old chums and this was an ancient bone he was picking but that I wouldn’t believe him as usual.

I politely focused all of my attention on the cashier when my turn to order came up. I made serious work out of counting my change, then paid her and left without ever looking back.

There. I feel better, now.

Ha, you got it, Mama Tiger, those were the ads I meant! The real kicker is that in the DC metro area, you get political ads for Va. which don’t mean a thing to us in MD!

it is just too galdarned freakin early is what it is. Thank Og Dunkin Donuts is open this early for coffee - breakfast will come from Wendy’s (yes, Wendy’s is doing breakfast now (‘bout freakin’ time)) because I am too tired to scramble anything up myself and I really must have protein in the morning - How do people function on nothing but carbs first thing in the a.m.?

Why are you up so early, rosie? (Can’t remember if you told us…)

I was thinking maybe you had the stream-of-consciousness experience on the bus (you ride the bus to work, right, Mork?). There was a guy at the bus stop yesterday who was talking to himself for quite a while. He was intoxicated, I believe, on top of being a bit wacko. People moved away from him nervously. He was, however, not nearly as impressive as your new friend in terms of coherence (or maybe consecutive words per minute) and was basically talking to the air.

Sorry about the arthritis, doggio. Hope Nelly doesn’t make a habit of knocking over the trash can. Sorry about the Canes.

I slept 6 1/2 hours straight. Haven’t done that in ages and ages. And I’m still sleepy, so I’m going to make an attempt at going back to bed and maybe catching another hour or two of ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZs.

GT

   My initial reaction would have been to tell him: “Up the voltage” but if he hadn’t seen Real Genius, the subtlety would have been lost on him. <snerk> I wonder if you ran into my ex-bf? He occasionally sends me emails that appear to have been crafted by raving loonies. Just yesterday, he re-forwarded an ancient diatribe against Hugo Chavez and CITGO and Russians and Iranians and the end of society as we know it. I tried to set him straight, but I fear it was a lost battle. Oh well.

Good morning, world! It rained all night, and from the looks of weather radar, we’re going to get more rain this morning. But it’s 70 degrees out - that’s just too bizarre and way too warm for this hour on a late October morning. Still, I’m not changing my mind - no craft show today. I’m looking forward to a fun day of laundry and stuff.

**tarra ** - even the ads directed at Maryland residents mean very little to me, at least until after the conventions. I’m registered non-party affiliated, which means (I think) I can’t vote in the primaries anyway. But I’m already sick to death of the Hillary bashing. I’m not even one of her fans, but I’m tired of how everyone is attacking her. Then again, I don’t like attack ads at all. I think they should be required to end with: "I’m Candidate <insert name here> and I approved this message. :stuck_out_tongue: " Seriously, they should be required to stick out their tongues like bratty little kids on the playground. I think that sets the tone quite well.

**rosie ** - I’m with you. Protein in the morning is a necessity. It’s bad when I get a hankerin’ for pancakes because I don’t really like any sides with them. I usually end up having a chunk o’cheese to restore balance. 'Cause unbalanced is not good, as **Mork ** so brilliantly illustrated. And my post ends here, having come full circle.

I am up this freakin early because I am at work, and I have to put in a full shift (to make up for an earlier day off - I am out of personal time and they don’t like us using vacation days for medical reasons)

woofwaiter- welcome to the club - where is yours? will you have to join the bio-club with tigs, VWife, and me?

Good ummmmmmmm… Mornin’ y’all! I kinda want to say evenin’ cause it’s gettin’ to be my sleepy time.

Mooooom yes I do shave my teeth. When you’re hairy, flossin’ just ain’t enough. :stuck_out_tongue:

rigs I believe this may be the thread you’re lookin’ for. He’s one of our most recent ravin’ looney dopers.

I’m all showered and have consumed a beerverage. I may consume another just cause then go sleepy bye.

Y’all have a good day!

No!

Well, you know, they did make him a fireproof suit.

I wonder what would have happened if you’d argued back, in stream-of-conciousness mode. Probably too much of a hassle.

Did you notice that you can pay by MasterCard at Tim’s now, but not debit? That’s weird. Who uses a credit card to pay for $1.50 coffee?

Awake, bathed, awaiting tea, and have sent Mr. Lissar off to the dojo. Sensei’s away, so he’s going to be teaching. We’re going out to lunch with the Good Inlaws (Mr. Lissar’s Dad and stepmom). After that I think we have no plans. Lounging will be fun. It’s a nice, cool, rainy fall day.

Back from breakfast - and it was a good breakfast experience. We like Linda’s Cafe, but the last 2 times we went, the service was sloooooooooooow! Like half an hour to get an omelette and some pancakes. But today, less than 10 minutes for 2 omelettes. I was impressed and pleased.

It’s still raining on and off. I’m about to descend to the bowels of the laundry room and work my way through several baskets of dirties. And I may have some clay play, too. Mostly, I’m taking it easy. Life is good.

Mork–He’s mentally ill. Did he look homeless? oh, wait, you’re in Canuckland, where they don’t just throw mentally ill peoples out in the street… I hope the police (Mounties? dunno) picked him up and put him some place safe for him.

Still, that kind of thing can be disconcerting to say the least! I ran across a guy once who kept saying to me (as if I had accused him of it), “I am not an Austrian! I am not an Austrian!” I kept saying OK and backing away, but my devil-self inside was saying, “bet you are. Know you are.”*

Bleh. Am up after bad night of restless sleep, weird-not in a nice way-dreams and bad mood. I think I might be more fickle than the weather–my mood changes so quickly. I know the source(s), so the only thing to do is Man Up and just plow through the effing assignment and day. But first, some chocolate…
oh, and CritterHireling --how you doin’? I’m not THAT squishy, jut squishy-ish in places. Are you squishy, too?

Lisslar–that is so bizarre re Horton’s. You’d think they take the debit, since that’s instant and they don’t have to go through the process of trying to get their money from the credit company. I will never understand business. (plus what you said about the small amounts. Although in college, I did once buy a pack of cigarettes with a check. I dont’ smoke anymore–when I did, I wasn’t squishy anywhere, though. There is that.)

*as if there’s anything wrong with being an Austrian in the first place!

I am finally awake. It only took 4 and a half hours and 4 cups of coffee. That’s the good news. the bad news is that I’ve only done two hour’s worth of work in the 3 and a half hours I am here . . . <sigh>

Evening all. My parents are still here. Nothing else to add …

Pics uploaded - best I can say for this batch is I learned a lot from my mistakes. Plus I may hold on to the “happiness” flowerpot for myself, since the glaze went weird.

Back to work - I can’t be dilly-dallying her all day, you know. So stop enticing me with your scintillating conversation and witty repartee! Dammit!!! :stuck_out_tongue:
