A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

I don’t miss him, and we (and Afghanistan) are still reaping the whirlwind from his stupid war in Iraq, without which the US might have had resources available to make a real difference in Afghanistan instead of just messing it up for another couple of generations.

As usual, The Onion has George the Younger covered.

Have you ever seen someone who, after being told that there is a warrant out for their arrest, sit back and reassess the path he’s taken over the past few months? Live? On air?

No?

Well, it happened today on InfoWars:

Such delicious schadenfreude!! Thank you for posting this. I have watched it 5 times already and I know I am not done.

I still remember when he and his administration declared that the Afghanistan and Iraq invasions would seed democracy in the middle easy or to start a domino effect that would topple the dictatorships of the middle east.

I’m still waiting.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer group of folks! Though personally I don’t find this scandal the least bit shocking these days.

The proximate cause of Carnahan’s departure was a firestorm that engulfed the party in recent days, after a GOP donor she was close to, Anton “Tony” Lazzaro, was indicted on federal sex-trafficking charges. A pile-on ensued, with Carnahan, the wife of Republican U.S. Rep. Jim Hagedorn, accused by party officials and former staffers of running a toxic, retaliatory workplace, mismanaging party finances and, through the use of non-disclosure agreements, squashing transparency.

“The party is in ruins,” Michael Brodkorb, a former deputy chair of the Minnesota GOP, said on Friday.

He added, “I don’t know if the party has hit rock bottom yet.”

In addition to the charges against Lazzaro, the chairwoman of the University of St. Thomas College Republicans was arrested on charges she assisted him in trafficking minors for sex, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

When Republicans hit rock bottom, they’ll grab their picks.

Of course the Minnesota GOP is toast. The most prominent Minnesota Republican is Mike-fucking-Lindell of pillow and conspiracy bullshit infamy.

Or blame the “Demonrats.” Somehow that other party forced Carnahan and Lazzaro to do what they did.

What I was trying to say was that when it seems Republicans can’t possibly go any lower, they’ll find a way to keep digging.

Is that froot-loop [ sic ] Michelle Bachman still around? As I recall, she was kind of like MTG figure. Nothing “Minnesota nice” about her.

She was Minnesota-nice-and-crazy…

She went into retirement from public service years ago. She still stirs up shit but she’s no longer directly involved in politics as far as I can tell.

From the link:

First term state Sen. Julia Coleman, who was among the first GOP elected officials in the state to call for Carnahan’s ouster, said a big reason she decided to run for office was to get more young people, particularly women, to embrace the Republican Party, but that the current scandal has undermined those efforts.

It seems to me that encouraging young women to embrace the Republican party (or at least Republican donors) was the problem.

Clearly the Republicans are going to have to start the process to legalize sex trafficking. Too many “good” people are getting in trouble for it.

It appears she’s now an administrator at the Pat Robertson founded and ultra-Christian Regent University. Never underestimate the ability of the incompetent and stupid to make money find work from members of the Republican party.

Good grief. I don’t credit Bachmann with enough sense to put her panties on straight, and she’s now a regent at a “university?” Can’t make this shit up.

No, it’s ‘Regent University’. She’s just a bureaucrat.

The name of the university is “Regent”, that’s not her title.

Surprisingly, it seems to be a pretty reputable school despite its origins. (It was originally called “Christian Broadcasting Network University”. :face_vomiting:)

I’d originally assumed it was a “university” the way Trump University was, but it seems legitimate academically.

Her role there is “Dean of Robertson School of Government“. So I guess she is the boss of everyone who teaches government studies there. I wonder if she’s there for name recognition, as a figurehead, or what.

Oops. I must have flashing back to my college days where we were always concerned about the regents of the UC system and their latest hijinks.
