So does this decision render the “special master” completely moot? In a way, that would almost be too bad, if (as appears) the special master was going to slap down the Trump legal mumbo-jumbo just like almost every other judge whose path he has crossed. But if course it’s a good thing, because the course of that particular prosecution can now move forward again at speed.
It’s been a busy day for The Cheato, so I held my nose and checked his Twuth Social account.
No mention of Dearie or the 11th Circuit, he’s laser-focused on Letitia James. To no one’s surprise he’s targeting the black woman instead of the old white dudes. He even gave her a nickname, Peekaboo, which sounds subtly racist to me.
(My first thought when I heard the nickname was “that’s racist”, then it took me a few minutes to pin down why, but I think because it’s a mash-up of two very derogatory terms for black people which I’m don’t feel like typing out.)
In one missive he accused her of “working for the banks and insurance companies”, I guess he recognizes they’re the most proximate victims of his fraud.
Then in his next twuth, she’s a tool of the radical left. He’s all over the place with her.
Okay. I know what one of those terms is (it ends with “ninnie”). What’s the other one?
Starts with a J, has a G in the middle.
I’m guessing “spook”. It’s an old term he would have grown up with.
He probably thinks he’s being clever since spooks/ghosts say “boo”.
ETA: @Cervaise is likely right. I forgot about that one.
Thanks, Cervaise. I had forgotten that one, along with the one running_coach guessed.
For all intents and purposes. I believe the entire reason for asking for a special master was to frustrate and delay the investigation by taking the documents out of the DOJ’s hands. Now that the pertinent documents are back where they belong, things can proceed as they were before all of that nonsense.
The special master can go ahead and review all of the other documents that are not relevant to the criminal investigation.
Here’s a cite for that which we won’t say:
Honestly, we can’t dismiss the possibility that it’s just incoherent nonsense.
Yes, this
oh good grief. how does anyone see trump as anything other than a loser? he is just flailing about now, and scrapping things from the hole in the bottom of the barrel.
I know people like to describe it as a cult, and who am I to disagree? The thing about true believers is that they very often continue to believe even in the face of mounting evidence that their doctrines/leadership is wrong. If The Right Reverend Horton’s predicted date of Jesus’ return has come and gone, we don’t necessarily stop believing but instead make excuses to explain why his prediction didn’t come to pass.
For many of those who jumped on the Trump Train, it has formed a core part of their identity. And it’s tough to change someone’s core identity.
“If all the Jews were bankers, then how can they be Communists, too?”
“Subtle. Very subtle, Fraulein Kost. If they can’t destroy us one way, they try the other.”
The latest Schadenfreude summarized:
“They sure are hammering at poor Mr. Trump. He must be real dangerous to all those special interests and perverts if they are trying this hard to bring him down. I know he’s so strong and smart, I’m sure he’ll find his way through, even though there is only so much that one man can take. God bless and protect Donald Trump!”
Or thoughts to that effect, which are going through a lot of those core identities these days.
You forgot ‘and handsome’.
yep, I was listening last night. Apparently he estimated the value of his properties, like any of us would do, but the banks don’t rely on that. They do their own due diligence. No one was defrauded. These are large sophisticated banks and insurance companies who can easily look out for their own interests (no mention of the tax fraud)
An interesting podcast on the topic: Podcast Episode 235: Leon Festinger and the Alien Apocalypse - Futility Closet
As I remember it, the predicted apocalypse (spoiler alert) did not occur. Some cult members took the hint and realized they had been wrong all along. Some, however, doubled down and became even more fervent believers; and the more they had prepared and dedicated themselves to the predicted apocalypse, the harder it was for them to give up their belief. That’s part of the reason I don’t challenge Trump supporters very often. The more effort someone puts in to defending Trump now, the more they may feel they have to stick with him to the very end.
When predictions fail to be fulfilled, they’ll go through a sort of Cult Darwinism, where the saner people realize that they’ve been involved in bullshit and get out. The really bonkers people stick around, and without the potential moderating influence of the saner folks, they just get nuttier in a kind of sick feedback loop. Think of it like being tempered by a fire; it just gets more rabid the more it gets tested.
Hmmm, no.
I mean, yes, this is true to a point… that point being where we give the bank and the IRS equal valuations.
However, when we repeatedly give the bank a $750 million valuation and we repeatedly give the IRS a $75 million valuation, that’s where we get in trouble. And as the charts above note, he did this a LOT.
