Bad day for Donnie. SCOTUS has denied his appeal of the 11th circuit court decision, and the Jan 6 Committee voted unanimously to subpoena his testimony.
Unfortunately, the reality is that those thumbnails WORK. Even the creators themselves may find them stupid, but they generate views, so they have to use them. Same with click-bait titles.
For a breakdown on the silliness of it:
Fair enough but it is actually a really detailed and professional look at what is happening (by actual legal professionals). If you are interested in the topic then it is well worth a watch.
I bet the ketchup is flying today.
LegaEagle is great. I subscribe to Devin Stone’s channel.
He has a mix of silly topics. things like reviewing a TV show or movie to judge how well they get the law right, or ranking fictional lawyers. (Even those silly topics have a lot of good legal info in them.) And then there are topics where he straight-up talks about the ramifications of real world legal situations, and he has had some great videos specifically about the Trump cases.
What Devin is good at, is giving you a lot of solid information, making it entertaining, and not wasting time. (He has a fast delivery but he’s easy to understand.) I have watched other legal videos and usually they are boring or take forever to get to the point.
I will say this latest video doesn’t feature Devin as much, but this other guy is okay. I remember he and Devin teaming up to talk about the original Top Gun film and how much they got wrong from a legal perspective. (Spoiler: a lot.)
I like that while he seems to have a liberal bias his legal analysis is what the law says and how it is used by the courts. He is less about what you want the law to be and more about what the law is (currently).
Thanks for that link, Kron. I subscribe to Veritasium, but don’t watch nearly as much as I should.
You mean A Few Good Men? I don’t remember law being any part of Top Gun.
No, I mean Top Gun.
It covered a ton of laws that were broken in the original film.
“Scowl Owl” was a Judge Advocate in the Marine Corps, so Devin brought him onto the video to discuss military law.
Maverick would be in a LOT of trouble if that film was real life. Or as they put in the video description:
Maverick is in the legal…DANGER ZONE.
It came out around the time Top Gun: Maverick was in, or about to be in, theaters, which is when I saw it.

Cool. I wonder what their take was on A Few Good Men.
Another lose for the looser.
And some more losing for Trump:
Haven’t had time to watch this, but I was both amused and exasperated to read that the reason James is moving to block Trump Org from moving assets and continuing bad practices is that they have created Trump Org II. So Trump’s lawyers are all “We promise Trump Org isn’t doing the bad things!” while omitting to mention that this is because Trump Org II is doing them instead.
Don Jr. is running scared.
Donald Trump Jr., a top executive at the Trump Organization, told New York investigators that he was not involved in preparing the real estate company’s financial statements at the center of a $250 million lawsuit and that his knowledge of accounting rules is limited to a college course, according to excerpts of his deposition released Thursday.
Huh, that means I literally have as much expertise as Junior. I majored in Business Administration (switching from Computer Science) and took one course in Accounting 101.
Quothe the Genius Businessman - “I dunno. I just sign whatever they put in front of me.”
Now that’s due diligence!
His review of the movie The Rainmaker made me watch it. And I’m glad I did. Good movie!
