Meanwhile in Arizona, Lake’s lawyers are now responsible for paying the legal fees for Maricopa County:

A federal judge has ordered the lawyers for two failed Arizona Republican candidates to pay the legal fees of attorneys for the Maricopa Counties.

What makes all that relevant here, the judge said, is that the attorneys failed to conduct the kind of inquiry that court rules require before filing a lawsuit and forcing those they sue to have to defend themselves in court.
"Any objectively reasonable investigation of this case would have led to publicly available and widely circulated information contradicting plaintiffs’ allegations and undercutting their claims,‘’ Tuchi wrote.
"Thus, plaintiffs either failed to conduct the reasonable factual and legal inquiry required (under court rules), or they conducted such an inquiry and filed this lawsuit anyway,‘’ the judge continued. "Either way, no reasonable attorney, after conducting an objectively reasonable inquiry into the facts and law, would have found the complaint to be well-founded.‘’

He made the same claim to The Times, but asked to produce just one person in Chilmark who is upset about him not being allowed time at the library, he said they wouldn’t want to speak publicly. They don’t want to be “perceived as an enemy of the library,” he said.

In 2018, when Dershowitz asked to speak about his book, Hierta put out a plea to her fellow librarians, and Vineyard Haven stepped up and sponsored Dershowitz at the roomier Katharine Cornell Theater in Tisbury, even as he claimed he was being shunned.

According to this article, Chilmark has the 2nd highest home value in the state, with the typical home going for $2.1 million. Tisbury (11 miles away), by contrast, is all the way down at #28, with homes going for a mere $1.04 million. So you can hardly blame him for not wanting to speak in Tisbury, no one from Chilmark would be caught dead there. He may as well be talking to the fentanyl heads in Lawrence.

The guy is an unreserved slimeball, but he’s also a very experienced lawyer and former Harvard law professor. It’s surprising that someone of his stature could end up in such an embarrassing fiasco, but the Schadenfreude is very nice! Maybe he’s getting senile, or maybe his urge to defend MAGAts came from the same dark place as his willingness to defend all those other reprehensible criminals during his law career.
