A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

This is just proof of the “witch hunt” or “all lies” or some other such nonsense.

Everyone knows Congress is part of the Deep State. In fact, some sources say Congress has extended its tendrils throughout the Deep State, channeling dark money in nefarious ways.

/sarcasm

We’ve known for years now that people like George Bush, Obama and now Biden have been secretly plotting to run the country!

And every four years, one of them tries again!

Ultimate Streisand effect

This reminds me of times when a person goes to court “to have justice done” or whatever, then realizes during the discovery phase of the trial that they are legally forced to hand over a bunch of information they’d rather not have anyone see.

Like jumping on stage to rant against someone, and the whole audience sees your fly is open.

Something similar happened to Gen. Douglas MacArthur:

In 1934, MacArthur sued journalists Drew Pearson and Robert S. Allen for defamation after they described his treatment of the Bonus marchers as “unwarranted, unnecessary, insubordinate, harsh and brutal”. Also accused for proposing 19-gun salutes for friends, MacArthur asked for $750,000 to compensate for the damage to his reputation. In turn, the journalists threatened to call Isabel Rosario Cooper as a witness. MacArthur had met Isabel, a Eurasian teenager, while in the Philippines, and she had become his mistress. MacArthur was forced to settle out of court, secretly paying Pearson $15,000.

Heheheh. Fifth paragraph here: Douglas MacArthur - Wikipedia

I really like this take on the hearings, and a bit of analysis over the SOTU address:

Damn, that whole thing is a thing of beauty. Particularly that last minute.

Based on their track record, I’m tentatively looking forward to the congressional committee on the weaponization of government.

Jim Jordan: Did the Attorney General attempt to instigate or interfere with FBI investigations for political reasons?
Witness: Yes he did. On multiple occasions.
Jordan: And what specifically did Merrick Garland ask you to do
Witness: Oh, Garland? No he didn’t do anything I thought you meant Barr.

Pence being subpoenaed is schadenfreude enough, but I’d expected it to elicit a poorly-thought-out response from Trump by now.

Will it be “Look, I can’t be responsible for everything that a page like Pence happened to see while he was wandering around the White House.”…
Or just “Pussy Pence is jealous because my name was bigger on those lawn signs, my very beautiful, tasteful… no President’s ever had signs that classy, they’re the only ones that are nice enough to be stuck in the greens at my golf club in Scotland.”

Obviously some guy who just got coffee, Trump hardly even knew him. Plus, “Pence” sounds dangerously British, you know.

Pence will probably sing like a bird.

I love McCarthy’s look of “Oh, fuck” at about 9:16.

It’s supposed to last for the rest of your life, unless you renounce it. It’s a pledge, and if it expires after one day, it never meant anything in the first place.

At the start of this video, Seth Meyers (not jokingly) refers to MTG as the “de factor leader” of the House Republicans. I wonder if he might be right. How scary!

And the fact that TFG treats those principles with such contempt is why I will, always and forever, refer to him as “the America-hating fuckstick.”

Which is pretty much the only line in the whole thing I don’t have a problem with.

“de facto”

Fucking autoincorrect. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

That’s OK, we read tpyo.
