A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

That would be my expectation also, but I felt it it needed pointing out amid the well-deserved hurrahs that that’s the current scope of the ruling.

It will certainly be important precedent, but not binding beyond that Federal district. It does not “nullify… the act altogether.”

Yep, I expect the state* to appeal it to the Circuit Court, and whoever loses there to take it to the US Supreme Court.

*Well, actually the appellant would be the remaining named defendant, District Attorney Steven Mulroy, as the only person with standing.

ETA: Of course there’d be amicus curiae briefs from various interested parties on both sides.

Since it is a state act, my presumption was that the Federal district included the whole state. However, on further investigation, this is not the level of “district” that I was expecting (I think I was thinking of the district courts of appeal, in error). There are apparently three US district court jurisdictions in Tennessee, and I believe you are correct that so far it would only be binding within the Western Tennessee court district.

As you say, it is still an important precedent.

Excellent.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for McEnany or something? The journalists I’ve seen commenting on Trump’s post seem to be coming to her defense and calling her “well liked”, one of Trumps most loyal followers and not deserving of such treatment. To be fair, they are making the point that this is what he does to supporters if he even thinks they have turned on him. While that may be true, it doesn’t make her a good person worthy of sympathy. They completely leave out her role as a minister of propaganda. Screw her, IMHO. She knew damn well what she was getting into and stood in front of the cameras and lied her ass off to the public. If Trumpworld turns on her, who cares? She helped create it and deserves whatever she gets.

Ruh Roh. Here comes RICO. MeidasTouch

Rather than watch a bloody video (a 13-minute one at that), can you post any information?

Two more trumpian traitors go to prison; this time it’s for three years. You do have to love the chiropractor though. His lawyer says he “did not share any of the beliefs of Stewart Rhodes” although he seems to have been full in on living the Oathkeepers rebel life.

Rundown please? I’m not having that on my YouTube feed without some hint of what’s in it.

From the article:

Defense attorneys have long said there was never a plan to attack the Capitol and prosecutors’ case was largely built on online messages cherry-picked out of context.

Yet somehow they all wound up in the same place at the same time armed with instruments of destruction.

Total coincidence.

“” Across the US, Fulton County District Attorney is famous for one thing: Her criminal investigation into Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.

More locally, she’s also known for something else: Her love of RICO."

" According to a Brookings Institution analysis, Willis has the opportunity to bring charges against Trump for election fraud, forgery, influencing witnesses, and other potential crimes. RICO fits the bill as well, according to the Brookings report.

“Georgia’s RICO statute fits those facts like a glove,” Norm Eisen, a co-author of the Brookings report and legal ethics expert, told Insider. “That’s because the attempted coup DA Willis is investigating was a comprehensive assault on our democracy, and doing a larger case under RICO would better get at that and would achieve broad accountability against those responsible, above all Donald Trump.”

She’s also tying this into PAB’s efforts in other states to overturn elector slates.

Start the countdown on when the Georgia State Legislature removes her from office.

i believe the removal thing doesn’t start until 2024. ms willis should be able to get this indicted and into trial before that kicks in.

The people trying to remove her from office should also be tied to the entire RICO investigation.

That’s the Alabama legislature and Governor.

Sounds about right.

Georgia.

Gaaah. I was reading something about Tuberville (Moran- AL) and brain farted.

Mary Trump suggests her uncle’s opponents should not be afraid of him, and start calling him a loser.

She even offered a stunt a candidate could pull at a debate: show up with a bowl of mashed potatoes.

“That was his very first experience of humiliation was when he was being a total brat before my grandmother put dinner on the table,” she said. “My dad just in order to shut him up and stop him from tormenting his little brother Robert took a bowl of mashed potatoes and dumped it on Donald’s head.”

She added: “He hates that story.”
