and the joke plays on the literal and the wider translation of this phrase …
its a grandfatherly joke to begin with and falls completely flat when translated …

I would like this person from the MI phony electors to do serious prison time. I would gleefully gloat over that and add any and all harsher language you can think of: Meshawn Maddock. She is a piece of work and knew exactly what she was doing.
The phrase “mala uva” puts me in mind of “sour grapes” in English, though it means being spiteful about something you can’t have. It’s a sort of particularly loathsome envy.
I get your joke though, if “spoiled milk” is a bad attitude, it’s a pretty funny joke. 
I think the Republicans are dining on mala uva and washing it down with mala leche.
Oh no, we English speakers absolutely have that mindset too - it’s just that the English language is pretty famous for swiping words from other languages when an already-existing English word doesn’t quite fit. The emotion/feeling is definitely there, so off we go to rifle some other language’s pockets for a suitable candidate.

It is quite subjective, but I think gloat could be placed between schadenfreude and Häme, closer to Häme, just deserts closer to schadenfreude, and sadism would be on another line, forming an angle, starting close to Häme.
At some point people have to start noticing that all the social-issue wedge politics is just camouflage for the grift, right?
